easytarget replied to Admiral Keth's topic in Combat Mission - Scenario Talk
i've just visited the site and was wondering about the same thing as the above post - i want to play and review cmbo battles best played against the AI -
Scenario depot is sending an SOS
easytarget replied to Folbec's topic in Combat Mission - Scenario Talk
this strikes me as a thread worthy of a bump -
wouldn't think you'd have any problems with that config
-
i think you can fix this by not using MAPI - there should be an option for not using it - as i recall that's what i did when i ran into this error
-
Can someone help me find this?
easytarget replied to Kellysheroes's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
so they aren't at the depot? -
i believe the answer everyone is looking for in this thread is: drumroll please 42 angels can in fact dance on the head of a pin thank you, thank you... i'll be here all week
-
the follow up morale would be, when making a game, ignoring half the market of your potential customers who use ATI cards is probably a bad idea regardless the reason

Where are my Fog Graphics
easytarget replied to Colonel J Lee's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
anyone else reading this thread about to buy a new system would do themselves a huge favor if they held off for a few months PCI Express is just around the corner and replaces the AGP slot if you can hold off a few months you'll benefit from being on the front end of new video card technology and avoid paying for the last of the old technology -
ATI Catalyst 4.2 available
easytarget replied to Schrullenhaft's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
i don't have issues with menus, tabbing in and out, or dust or anything else for that matter i just don't get fog (which as been true for some time now) this is a dell 3.2ghz, gig of ram, XP, ati 9800pro vid i've never had any of the many different problems brought up in this forum on this machine or my notebook (in the case of the notebook we're talking nvidia go chipset - main problem there being typical lack of performance video wise - although the latest gen of notebooks are finally coming out with upgradeable vid cards - so the days of not using a notebook for CM may finally come to an end) -
ATI Catalyst 4.2 available

i've been ruinng them since the day they released haven't noticed much difference in terms of speed or compatibility guess i should be happy we didn't lose any ground -
New mamber silly questions....
easytarget replied to Dave the Sculptor's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
i'd be interested in hearing how this works out -
pretty strange i've run all the CM products on dell desktops (3 different ones with nvidia and ati vid cards) and on 2 different dell notebooks (different vid on each of them as well) and never encountered any problems in fact, pretty much the first thing i do when booting one up is remove the vid driver and load the latest one from nvidia/ati no issues whatsoever in CM or any other game for that matter by default i've always worked under the assumption that any driver loaded by the mfg is going to be outdated, whether it be vid card, sound card, or whatever and immediately load the latest driver straight from the mfg of the part

no problem at all - glad to help since it just so happened that i had upgraded hardware recently i had a pretty good idea of how much, or how little, impact it has specifically on CM i can't say that i'm disappointed since in my case the upgrade was for other games which have in fact been positively affected i think in your case you're making the right call - while i know all too well the desire to upgrade, i think it's also more fun to do it when you get the most bang for your buck - and in the case of CM, that's going to happen ultimately with the new engine - at which point the new hardware will no doubt get to actually show off its abilities
-
i've run CM on p4 2ghz and on a brand new p4 3ghz w/ 800 fsb etc i don't honestly see a lot of difference in CM between the two btw, the 2ghz model was using an overclocked nvidia ti200 and the 3ghz is running an ati 9800pro while this would tend to suggest a huge performance increase, given the processor speed, the video card differences, and the FSB (plus faster RAM), it really hasn't made that much of a difference in CM if CM is all you're worried about, i wouldn't consider the upgrade you're considering worth the cost and trouble i upgraded to a faster machine for games other than CM - specifically D3 and HL2 - and in the case of a current game i'm enjoying immensely, price of persia, the graphics and processor capabilities of the new machine are put to full use and i have the ability to run it 1600x1200 wtih everything turned all the way up - that would not of been possible with the older machine - so in my case it was worth it - in your case, i just don't think it is - unless of course you have the hardware bug and just can't shake it - in which case i'd follow the above advice and consider a vid card change before going with the new MB (assuming you've got a vid card below a 4600 or 9700pro - if you've got either of these or above, i wouldn't even do that upgrade)

CMAK-Very choppy graphics.
easytarget replied to Code Talker's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
check your RAM again, if it really is 128mb that's probably at least one of your problems XP barely runs under that low an overhead and celeron for processing power in CM is far from ideal - it'll work in cmbo, but i've got my doubts about its viability in cmbb and cmak did you see stuttering and slowness in cmbb with this set up? and i'm not familiar with the graphics, is that integrated? that'd be another source of slowness if it is it may be time for some new hardware -
have you considered shared irq's among hardware components that aren't playing nice with each other?

HELP - Need NOtebook Video Card Advice quick!
easytarget replied to TankDawg's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
just don't expect to get anything resembling decent performance in any recent fps game and in all liklihood some stutter at the very least in cmbb and/or cmak my advice, don't buy a notebook as your primary game playing machine [ December 26, 2003, 11:13 PM: Message edited by: easytarget ] -
..CMAK running a lot slower than CMBB..
easytarget replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
I'd recommend waiting till PCI Express is included. It's the next thing coming out that will make a real performance difference. And in all liklihood, a big difference. For more about what this means see: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1087 -
not only do i still have cmbo loaded, i have cmbose loaded as well and about 5 pbem's going as well
-
hope you remembered to take some of the cmbb respones with a grain of salt afer all, you did post your question in the cmbb forum what did you expect these guys to say
-
if you want to play humans, i'd go with CMAK inevitably everyone gravitates towards the latest game so you have the most opponents to pick up games with on the latest one
-
might i suggest a program to help simplify the process for you: PBEM Helper http://www.sci.fi/~fuerte/pbem.htm
