    Hehe, I was hoping to make burnt ground as a flavor object, but they just don't really work very well because of the alpha transparency sucking big time for FOs. So I was making burnt textures for ground tiles, kind of have them working, but they're on a bit of a back burner for now. Difficulty was finding appropriate tiles for the variety of likely scenarios, I chose ploughed ground for towns and cities since it's unlikely to be needed but there was some random appearance of them that I needed to look at.
    But Harry are you thinking of burnt vehicles? All of JM's excellent new models are blank canvases that we could scorch, but it would take some time to do. I'd have a go at some, but am just too busy and was unwell for the last week or so, have to make up some time and help get Nigel's Berlin over the line.

    I have LukeFF on my ignore list for 10 years or so I think. My comment was aimed at Cassio Lima studios. They get part of my money to make vehicle models as I understand it. Something calling themselves a "studio" should have some better QA I would think. In other posts I have carefully stated how I appreciate the "regular bubbas" beta testers and the difficult job they have. But the bottomline is if issues are spotted by beta testers but somehow do not get corrected. We often hear from beta testers, "yes, we saw that and reported it" -- but somehow it gets back in the game? Sprockets do not turn, guns slew in odd ways, legs stick out, gun blast comes from the wall of the bunker, etc. The bunker gun blast was like that for several titles over ten years until a non-beta forumite looked into it and fixed it. 
    Attack the person reporting the issues or trying to discuss it doesn't help solve the issue. If this forum seems to get hot headed, imagine how the greater steam community might view and comment on a game where sprockets don't turn or the gun blast comes out of a wall? I don't play CM on steam.

    As are pretty much every one else on this forum...That's not the problem...The problem is that we have close to nothing to buy !
    The BFC release rate has been far from impressive during the last decade or so. Take WW2 eastern front for example. This is a theatre that easily could feature 8-10 basegames/modules.
    The first eastern front game (CMRT) was released back in 2014 i belive. Almost 9 years ago. During these 9 years ONE additional module has been released. Currently we don't even have minor nations included in the timeframe depicted in these games. 
    There is a lot still left to do to come even close to cover the eastern front in CM2...A task that BFC seems to be far from capable of achiving on their own...What could possibly be wrong with exploring the possibility of recruting some 'sub contracter' that could help with improving the current release rate..?
    Apart from the eastern front there are many other possible theatres of war that would fit perfectly as a CM game...Very few of these will ever be made if BFC decides to go it alone...

    go see that other thread where you mentioned the skirts and Lucky said he saw TWO different named skirt files. skirt and skirts with an S. maybe that solves it! 🙂

    Nothing is ever easy that will be worthwhile!
    I am getting an install error for miniconda "Failed to Create Menus"...so let me go and see how to resolve that. 
    EDIT: OK, I had Windows 7 on the PC my son built me for my 50th birthday. Almost 58 so it is an old system! 🙂
    I had to go to the archives for a version that might work for me. I picked one that seemed to STILL be python 3.* but a few years old.
    It installed with no warnings. I went to the command prompt for the first time ever in my life and it says I have a python environment.
    What an accomplishment for tonight! I think I will call it a day and this week I try to actually get the CMAutoEditor to run...

    Just a question and a little help for me.
    Real project will starting March April !
    I don't play too much CM for the time so I don't have any dead soldiers on my screen.
    Can I ask if somebody can make a simple screenshot, of theirs dead soldiers (with a view from the top) ?
    The 3d soldiers models that we can download on the net are without textures and not free,
    so with "originals" death from the game, I could make it in 2d or 3d myself.
    Like the model that I present in my CMRT FO's Pk2 pack.
    Thus, this could be beneficial  for everybody's that want to added dead on the battlefield.

    small tent! Unless you want a SdKfz carport. The tents entry shouldn´t be higher than a standing soldier model and usually is even (much) smaller. But maybe also depends on a particular nations type, IDK.

    A perfect example would be DCS world from Eagle dynamics. They are doing exactelly that and because of that have been able to expand their game world many times over. Simply by allowing 'outside' designers to help develop new maps and new flyable aircrafts. 
    And as it happens...DCS world is not a fantasy space invaders game.

    Absolutely, I was sure we could do that in CMx1 games, a strange retrograde step to not have the facility in CMx2.
    But yes, so often the eyes miss it when panning around for good images.

    Agree, definitely. Since BFC offered much more FO slots but don´t let them show up. Their 3D editing guys could surely´ve put lots more stuff in there, selecting from stock games assortments like we do. Guess they like keeping us modders busy so they can work on Blitzkrieg CW module and release it ASAP. 😜

    Allowing outsiders to help BFC with their...less than stellar...release rate of new products does not neccesarely have to mean that those outside products would be riddicolous fantasy games...
    Surely BFC could demand to have a 'quality check' option before releasing any outside projects in the Comnat Mission name. Ones these outside teams considders their products ready...BFC will have a look at them and if they meet the desired standards add a simple code to the files...
    Without this code these 'modules' will not be playable within the CM game engine....
    Something like that ought to be possible...There are many, many possible scenarios for future modules out there and without any outside help to lend BFC a helping hand we will most certainly never see them as BFCs productivity...atleast for non-military during the last 5-8 years or something have been downright pityful...

    Yet in CMBS T-90s are left without front armour since the last patch 8+ months ago. If the game was easier to mod, maybe the community could pick up on some of Battlefront's slack, and that would do more for the game's "integrity" than avoiding silly mods. Maybe we could get the Porsche Kingtiger back in CMBN, 32 months after it disappeared, or correct some of the very silly point values in quickbattle.
     
    Combat Mission has more to worry about than its "soul".

    In this case the design decision is "prevent users from modifying software", which would include user created fixes for these problems. Anyone who has ever played a Paradox grand strategy game is aware of the concept of user created "patch" mods, because Paradox can often drag its feet for months and months on simple typos in scripts that break features.

    I VERY highly doubt anyone in this community wants to play Panther fires 100 rounds a minute.
    What people want is content, and theyre sick of paying $60 for a half recycled game.

    Ah yes, I remember. This is the kind of thing that makes scenarios much more playable IMHO, having a terrain that is natural and reminiscent of something remembered or something seen. Basing scenarios on real topographical information makes a massive difference to this, and having something like your script to do a lot of the heavy lifting is a great advantage.
