    +1
In addition to scalable UI, have also longed for a revamped ACQUIRE routine that allows units to swap weapons and ammo with adjacent units (with limitations of course); the ability of being able to order the AI to move a main weapons a few inches so it can attain LOS and shoot at what the 3rd loader can see and shoot at; one mouse click ability to set 180 degree arcs (as in CM1) etc etc.
It's the UI that really needs TLC so that players can waste less time on figuring out how to do certain things using the game interface (eg making multiple mouse clicks when one could do), and spend that time on the more fun decisions re tactics & strategy.

One has to keep em at max distance.  At least 300m, preferably 500m+.
Move SLOW (ie crawl) the last few meters to the vantage point you want them to spot from.
Many have asked that CM2 eventually feature an "Ambush" feature for snipers and AT teams in which they would wait, spot, shoot and after shooting immediately displace to another location/waypoint chosen by the player.

Ah.... You mean in the game.   (I couldn't see why they would have any more defensive capability than a regular halftrack in RL.)

That is completely understandable.  All us fans here do is throw out comments and suggestions with the full knowledge that most may not be implementable for the reasons stated.
However, the hope is that with CM3...

"BTW snipers are excellent spotters - you don't have to get within firing range - the fact they have scopes and binos is their key strength I think."
Yes, I forgot to mention that.
"if the enemy spot a marked unit they get points..."
Thanks for mentioning that.  After playing CM2 since it first came out, I did not know that the game features this!!  Amazing.  (However, am not aware of any scenarios or campaign missions where the object is merely to observe and spot as opposed to kill.)

Haven't seen this mentioned in a while.  So here goes:
Hope that the next version gives us the ability to alter the UI size.  On a 30" 2760 x 1600 monitor I have to resize the game to 1920x1200 or lower just to read the text.  Soon UHD/4K monitors will become more widely used.   Shame to have to degrade the image just to read.

"...wonder if they're planning in matching vehicles in each release identically, i.e no US Army trucks until the British Module and no Syrian Truck or Shilka until the NATO module."
It would still be worth the $ to buy the modules.  However, it would be great to get everything in one bundle and pay one price - $100+ or whatever.  It's getting old the way games have been dribbled out bit by bit so one is bored/apathetic by the time the 3rd module is released.

Maybe a KICKSTARTER effort to fund an automated response to the "Why is **** so expensive?" questions that repeatedly come up?

Try using a movement waypoint to have the unit with LOS move to the "target". Then target fire with the desired unit at the waypoint. Then don't forget to remove the movement order. (I use SLOW as it is not hard to forget to cancel movement and at least SLOW usually is not fatal.)

It's a good point.  In CM2 it's very common to have the AI unexpectedly surrender before one has the chance to execute the final stages of one's brilliantly planned attack.

It's very frustrating akin to "coitus interruptus".

What still puzzles me is why BF did away with the easy click 180 degree arc of CM1.  If you play with armor, one needs to constantly have the turret facing one direction while the vehicle moves in another direction.  Currently, it's a major PITA to have to do 180 degree arcs in order to achieve this.

Erwin got a reaction from LukeFF in Question about ISIS's tactics
Just got back from dinner with ME specialist who lived there. Basically said that Iraq road to Baghdad is a bunch of small villages that were easily intimidated by killings/beheadings. Took Mosul cos Iraqi army disintegrated. Maintains that ISIS is still only about 30K. The real question is how could such a relatively well-trained and well funded army suddenly appear. Didn't get a good answer on that except initially funded by Oman.

Fascinating to read about Schilling.  I recall he bought one of my favorite cardboard wargame companies "The Gamers" and after he bought the AH rights I thought he would be focusing on MMP and hardcore wargames.

Sounds similar to Tom Clancy's Red Storm Entertainment.  That started wanting to do wargames and next thing they're trying to do fantasy stuff.

When I were a lad you'd see folks who were very successful in one area assuming they could do anything they wanted.  But, in those days it was often movies they wanted to get into.  Now it's MMO's.

A truly cautionary tale.  Am glad that BF hasn't been lured into any similar hubris.

Erwin got a reaction from LukeFF in Firing grenade launchers from buildings, line of sight issue
An certain this issue was discussed at great length in the WW2 CM2 games about why (some) MG's either took forever to set up in buildings or never could fire out of a window.  The reason was the same as I gave here earlier...  that at least some support weapons couldn't fire out of a window cos they were too low.

Am pretty sure that applied to the 50 cal for example - and in recent games I have yet to be able to have a 50 cal deploy to fire out of a window.

Regarding other support weapons fifing out of windows... Was that a bug that has been fixed?

Erwin got a reaction from Odin in Cant play campaigns
Yes, having to deal with the consequences of your actions/successes/failures in one battle continue to the next battle(s) is what makes CM such a great game.

That's one of the reasons that it is vital for BF to put more focus on Campaigns that use/exploit all the features that their game engine allows - branching, penalizing excessive friendly casualties, destruction of "valuable" buildings, core units, as well as using up too much ammo etc etc.

After CMSF was patched to its current (excellent) iteration, the campaigns that were created for CMSF by volunteer players became increasingly sophisticated, and many were quite brilliant.  As new CM2 titles were released it seems like the campaigns have unfortunately become increasingly cookie cutter, simplistic and rather boring.

It's understandable that campaigns have been neglected since the work involved is tremendous - several man-months to create a good campaign.  That's not sustainable by volunteers.  I am very happy to hear that BF is planning Campaign modules to sell.  That may be more important than continually creating new CM2 products.

Erwin got a reaction from Wiggum15 in New campaign content?
It's rather unhelpful when someone expresses an opinion and the discussion immediately veers off into attacking the person because of the words he used rather than considering the content of his post.

I agree that the campaigns are very weak (and seeming to get weaker) compared to the ones we had in previous releases.  CM2 allows for a great deal of sophistication in campaigns what with branching, being penalized for using too much ammo or losing too many men and materiel or damaging buildings etc.  What we're seeing now (in all the recent CM2 releases) are campaigns where (usually) little or none of that matters anymore.

I suspect that the vast majority of customers play vs the AI.  Campaigns are the best way to experience CM2.  And also, this is an entertainment product with wonderful verisimilitude.  But, customers need content to play the game.
