  1. Hey these are really much appreciated Marco... I will have to go back and see if I already use the Scipio mods. Maybe I'll just reinstall everything fresh into my Z just to be sure - as I tend to mix and match. I recall asking if you could improve the "call for fire support" buttons also (esp for CMBN) - I forget what they look like for CMSF and CMA. I find Juju's to be too dark and strange looking. I think your small arms, vehicles and aircraft look better. So, any chance? (Pleeeease.)
  2. Can you connect an iPad to a larger monitor or TV? (I find it almost impossible to enjoy CM on my 15" laptop now that I have 24" and 30" screens, and can even connect it to widescreen TV's.) And yes, I was convinced it was an April Fool's joke - given the age and interests of the average Apple user. Am I the only one who worries this could be the beginning of the end for "realistic" wargames from BF? The big money as we know is in much more superficial faster moving games - the sort of games that appeal to the Apple demographic.
  3. Rationalization 183/a-34: The act of firing the 20mm slightly altered the position of the gun itself, so altho' everyone in the 250/9 could see the Stuart, the gun was now unable to get LOF to it. "Quit bitchin' and learn to love the system!"
  4. At the risk of being a bit off-topic, I wish our wonderful modders would note how FADED the camo fabric is in those WW2 pics. 90% of the time, camo uniforms and headgear look way too new and colorful.
  5. This form of scouting is what causes the controversy re time limits in WEGO. If you're running scouts forwards, you really want them to HIDE at the end of their movement. (Otherwise, my experience is that that is where they tend to get shot.) But then, that means you need to wait another minute to UNHIDE, look around, and then run to the next "safe-ish" spot to HIDE etc. 15 minutes disappears very quickly just to scout a hundred meters. I find this "run and spot" technique tends to be more effective than HUNT. HUNT is even slower since you still have to stop and look around for at least 20 secs every 20-30 meters. And also, I find when they HUNT, they are more easily spotted and shot, than the RUN and HIDE tactic. But, run and NO HIDE can be equally fatal.
  6. Thanks for the pronunciation lessons, Stoex. I was half expecting a violent argument to erupt over whether you were correct regardless that you are a German speaker since so many seem convinced of their absolute correctness regardless of actual knowledge lol.
  7. Lovely-looking village map. That reminds me... are there any urban CMBN scenarios available?
  8. Those are good designer notes, Mark. But, it would be helpful to have more info BEFORE we d/l the scenario as it's a "Royal Pain" to d/l something we don't want.
  9. Vanilla simply means default. Vein's mods make these FX look more "realistic" and exciting as in the movies. Whether they are actually realistic is up to the viewer.
  10. Sorry patboy, have no personal knowledge of that. My Dad died a while back. All I recall was that they were crazy fighters more into "fighting with honor" rather than winning economically. And they really hated the Germans. Hence them taking Cassino with horrible losses, being the highest scoring fighter squadron (303?) in BOB etc... http://www.kongregate.com/games/ChannelFour/battle-of-britain-303-squadron And here is the game(!): http://www.kongregate.com/games/ChannelFour/battle-of-britain-303-squadron
  11. Haven't noticed that problem. But, I have noticed how just about every vehicle in CMBN explodes and burns. I always thought that happened not that often. Most of the time, the unit wold just stop dead... and other tankers would keep shooting at it just in case. I wonder if CM1 was more accurate in this respect, as few vehicular explosions occurred. There was even a CM1 mod to increase the percentage of explosions cos everyone liked them so much.
  12. The ideal would be to have other formations operated by the AI while you can focus on a platoon or so which I think is the max one can handle in RT unless one is pausing every few seconds. The lat 90's Panzer Elite SE was a terrific game - (probably still competitive) and operated like that. The reason it didn't become a huge success is that it required a (for then) very powerful computer and was buggy as hell. And the other neat thing about PE was that you could occupy tank crew positions as well.
  13. The only way I have found is to virtually demolish the building and kill/suppress all occupants with heavy fire first.
  14. Ok, new version: Norrmally I nag modders about bright label/symbols on their uniforms and helmets. But, since my dad was Polish I know how stark staring mad they all were - acting like they were fighting in the 19th century, and it's quite likely they'd go into battle with bullseyes on their heads. So, well done on the historical accuracy patboy!
  15. Clark: To stay sane while playing CM you have to make "rationalization" your friend. In this case, the rationalization is that as far as HQ is concerned the tank is fine until stops acknowledging radio checks. Hence the delay in reporting it as destroyed.
  16. I musta got these from CMMODS a while ago as I love using em. Great job Juju.
  17. Mord: I thank Allah that I have you to ask re loading bmp's, and now this new highly complex software...
  18. I really like your new take on the faces! Almost Clint Eastwood-ish.

  20. For what it's worth when in an ambush situation, or if approaching a possible firing position vs a known enemy tank, I always use a tight covered arc... and it seems to work in that my unit seems to spot and shoot first. It may only be a small increase in ability to spot, but over many such opportunities and games, I now find it's rare for my armor to get killed first.
  21. I am thinking simply of the loading pictures we have in the game. I rarely, if ever, see any insignia, rank or helmet icons etc.
  22. Well, we at least know why new modules take so much time to be developed lol. Great stuff BF. Who knew you guys had a sense of humor? ():
  23. Phew... Reminds me to go out and get a new BU HD. My old BU failed a few weeks ago...
  24. Wink: Despite the seeming attractions of historical accuracy, I would suggest that you do allow some replacements etc to make your campaign fun and playable without restarting. There is nothing worse that having to replay even one mission just to have enuff forces to continue. In CMSF's ROAD TO DINAS (xnt campaign btw) I recall getting halfway thru before realizing that I had no way to continue due to errors in the early missions, and had to restart the whole thing. Replaying missions is just awful when you know what will happen. And you have a good point re us oldtimer CM1 players not liking early ceasefires. What puzzles me is how you did so well with ONLY the best armor. I thought I had inflicted significant losses on the Allies, but it's true I did lose some infantry (not a lot). I thought my armor did ok. Maybe it was the inf losses and the one PzIV lost that caused it to end up as a draw? I find the way CM2 calculates the victory level to be very unpredictable/unstable. By doing ceasefires at various stages of another scenario I found one can go from a loss to a Total Victory with very few extra enemy units panicked/KIA. It is not a gradual calculation like it was in CM1.
