My favorite is "3". The tank and BG sky is most dramatic and the text style was best. However, the text could still be a bit more historical/cyrillic. Maybe make it 3D-ish - like the way the Russians write on their memorials & coins (if you know what I mean?).

In the next module for CMBS perhaps?

"...if you're looking for an example of a niche company..." It's hard to understand why companies like Paradox are being used as examples that BF should find it easy to duplicate. Paradox Interactive is not a little niche company like BF. It can afford staff to do all the things requested: On May 31, 2016, trading in Paradox Interactive commenced on Nasdaq First North under the symbol PDX.[1] The initial price offering was 33 SEK (3.96 USD)[6] valuing the company at 3,485 million SEK (420 million USD).

Great news stories: Lockheed Upbeat Despite F-35 Losing Dogfight To Red Baron And I really liked the t-shirt! Anyone else like reading Private Eye in the UK? But... these online stories are way funnier - like The Onion. -

Spotted in the CMSF manual, what happened to this?

ARMA used to be on disk. Can one not just buy a copy? Am not a fan of STEAM or anything that requires me to load extra online-required software on my clean machine. -
Words to stay alive by. (Most) players want to enjoy themselves and not have a horrible experience playing a game. IED's work well when it's either obvious where they may be located (eg chokepoints etc) or the player has been warned re their deployment (eg: to avoid a booby-trapped area). At worst, designers should ensure that the player has sufficient men so that he can survive losing a squad or two to IED's and still accomplish the mission "satisfactorily" - ie have a good game experience.

Now am really interested. The ARMA I remember years ago was awful for single-player. Is there a recommended site where to get the ARMA game mods and scenarios and campaigns (similar to CMMODS etc.)? (Does one d/l or buy disk??) Am assuming that re the first post in this thread by Vinnart the "One Life Squad" game is only RT multiplayer. Is that correct? -

Wow. I hadn't seen ARMA for many years. Amazing how the state of the art has progressed. Am I correct however, that this is online multiplayer and not much good solitaire vs AI? (If it's good vs AI, I am sold.) -
+1 Taking oneself (and life) too seriously leads to elderlyness and death. A definite correlation.

Very informative article. Basically we're fighting a death cult. And how does one do that? -

Looks very good. The god's eye view was the only odd aspect as knowing where everyone is including enemy in real time seemed a bit gamey. But, what a fun game. -
In games one has to deal with abstractions. But, I forgot to mention what the others noted above - best method when one can't realistically find the triggerman is use smoke. If the triggerman can't see the IED, he can't blow it.
-
The trick is not to pepper the location of a suspected IED, but to kill the triggerman - ie: deduce where he may be hiding and blast those locations.
-
That is interesting. While CMSF generally had a major objective of reducing friendly casualties to a minimum. My experience with CMBS is that it is by far the most "lethal" environment - far more lethal than WW2. After the minimal casualties of CMSF, CMBS can be quite depressing to play if it reflects RL results. Perhaps individual player's styles of play make a big difference.

Brilliant... Thank you...

Saw you had a bunch of mods new on CMMODS. All new or are they reposts of older mods??

I'd buy an updated CMA as well. The game is a wonderful complete change of pace and era. Given the enthusiasm for CMSF2, there seems to be a market for reduxes.

I have a feeling that was one of the things that appealed for adding them. Many of were appealing for French hooker units in CMBN. So there is hope then...? -
