  1. its not that hard nelly im sure we can walk you through setting up a battle for PBEM for the record, terminology being used. H2H=head to head(human v human) H2HH = a program developed by some of the players to assist in the file management ,used in conjunction with; Dropbox= a web based file sharing application to replace the email system. H2HH + Dropbox = automatic file placement and file sending, once set up all you have to do is launch game and load the file and play.
  2. Clubs are available to join, most of us are in one or two RT games are rare mate,i enjoy a few small RT battles, but, the majority of people play turn based via email.(dropbox and H2HH make this automatic once set up) its the only way to fly and probably a better way to learn the game initially as u can rewind the action.
  3. yea ,no substitute for playing human opponents. it'll will teach you lessons very quickly. i wouldnt be too critical on gameplay yet anyway,u say 2 weeks of experience in game?just scratching the surface mate. some of us have been playing this game for years and still get smashed. you need to rack up a 100 games or so to get used to the quirks and perks of successful battles.
  4. tough one, nelly in the old days we had a chat room at CMHQ,which always had guys wanting a game online at almost any time of day/night/zone. ive yet to find a substitute that actually has any players interested in RT. i say join a couple of CM clubs and have a dozen PBEM going, should feel like RT then:) a few people ask me how i can have so many games going at once? i dont find it difficult at all,in fact i reckon it hones one's skills alot sharper.
  5. so when is the next one due to start?
  6. good news steve i have it happen quite often,i kinda get used to it,but, some tweaking might be nice.
  7. the only negative comment ,if you can call it that,i sort of agree with is the outdated graphics. of course it doesnt stop me playing at all,i mean, what else is there that even comes close. i see our old mate is the first to write up a longwinded rant about poor ol BFC.still funny after all these years.some people just cant let go,man:)
  8. as a regular QB player over at BoB i've all but given up on CM1 style defensive setups in QBs AT guns for me,just arent worth the points, unless the map is very deep/long then maybe. but you cant rely on them to do their job.better to spend points on mobile assets imho. i enjoy my CM and continue to play regardless of the annoyances super improved MG effectiveness and Identification of units was an excellent upgrade over the earlier model. certainly would like to see formation options for squads.line, column, wedge would be enough for me. spotting and C2 is still a gamble alot of the time.i cant count how many times my perfectly placed TD,cant see the armor crossing it LOS in good conditions, then,on the other hand, and in a current game,my little PZIII blunders straight into the LOS of an M10 at 200 meters or less, the M10 doesnt spot me flank on ,i turn and KO the poor sod after the second shot, granted the M10 was buttoned but so was i,it didnt react at all. i put it down to the luck of the gods,or the roll of the dice. WEGO in network play is a must,i cant understand this omission at all,i suggest it was just too hard. however with the advent of Dropbox and H2HH its a minor gripe now. being able to select nationality and/or branch in pbem without asking the initiating player to do it for you.this was one of the things i liked in CM1,you could pick your forces and not know what your opponent chose until the game start proper. looking forward to MG but really need an eastern front fix soon:)
  9. quite a few clubs around to join including the one i've been in for over a decade http://webandofbrothers.de/index.htm. now back on topic im certainly keen for a multiplayer system overhaul.i dont have the time to fumble about with the current CM1 style, its been very unreliable for me,just getting the correct details is chaos, however, using CM1 itself presents no problems on the same PC. needless to say i dont bother anymore. a lobby would be nice ,dedicated server options etc a modern system with all the bells and whistles please but if RT is the only option in later releases, its pointless, unless turn based is supported.
  10. i made it to the 13 second mark, then killed myself.
  11. yea,i find the maps a little dull, objective wise. so,i am in the process of modifying alot of them to suit better for QB's and the like i have about 10 or so done at present, then maybe we can combine our modified maps for one package. i've also made a few of my own to add.
  12. cant help with the graphics bug, maybe try some different drivers? im sure there is at least 1x M4A3 Rhino in that scenario, which can go through hedges the AI aint the brightest, play a human instead Cheers
  13. in general i reckon its pretty even steven. the players have more input into the result imo, some maps can nullify the defense somewhat and vice verse. i generally have preview enabled,so its a mind game really, which is what i love most about the QB. i think fortifications need some more consideration on their values, bit too dear imo. trenches and sandbags are mainly decoys for my mind, but,on the right map they can be of use,but id rather mines or just extra troops instead. i can live(just) with the fortifications as they are. however,my biggest whinge is AT guns, everyone knows the complaints about these,so i wont bother rehashing.but,it would be a game changer if they were more dangerous. im getting close to 300 games played so far,and my interest isnt waining yet. alot of these battles are attack/defend,and i can handle myself from both sides generally speaking. i havent tried a probe from memory, which i shall do shortly, for me the standard *attack* seems fairly conclusive for a good fight. regardless,a good opponent on a good map,is gonna be a good game, who ever wins.
  14. the model escapes me at the moment, but, the Tiger with the cheaper rarity(standard) has, according to the manual, inferior armour quality compared to the other. i dont use AT guns much with their current modeling, but, when i do,i have defeated tigers at similar ranges with the 57mm current game i've got 3 x 50cal teams firing at one around the 200-400m range, killed the commander twice(?)damaged its optics(guess) and main gun,as it hasnt fired a shot. eventually, over the course of a few turns,it is out of the fight and must be close to bailing:) its pretty to watch:)
  15. look in the end,all i was asking for is, as the receiving player,i would like the choice of selecting Luftwaffe without asking my opponent to do it for me
  16. well you cant tell me that SS,Heer, and fallschirmjäger didnt ever fight together in normandy or italy,in the same manor that allied troops would've aswell. i reckon its a clanger,if its not an oversight:) i mean you can do it in the editor with an understanding opponent to make a QB with the above, but, thats not the point now is it?
  17. of course i meant human pick:) it would be nice to just have *unrestricted* as a force type like the previous CM. its probably an oversight and is too hard to alter now,is my guess?
  18. maybe been spieled before, but, setting up a standard QB pbem, the receiving player cant access some formation types unless its set by the creator? i always liked the suspense of not knowing what force type you may run into (ala CM1) as it stands now,i have to ask the creator for certain formation/nationality etc, giving away alot of fruit for the mind. BFC fix or do sumfink:) or maybe someones gonna tell me this is actually a feature? seriously, whats the story? Regards S
  19. i assume you have force size set at tiny and not just map size at tiny?
  20. wandering machine gun crew *feature* is still apparent.just had it happen in a QB im playing. painful t'was it too, needed that gun to deploy and apply fire superiority to area of concern. the battle is lost,my life is ruined:)
  21. im afraid i agree,i love BFC but the DRM and their TCP/IP hook up is a drag man.my PC is constantly evolving,i've found a few workarounds for HDMI and Ram changes, but it still catches me out at times. an overhaul would be appreciated, sometime in the future
  22. for whats its worth, stick with normandy, get the CW module for the extra goodies, then of course you will have to fork out again for market garden, which as far as i know,is the next module for CMBN. and i highly recommend playing some PBEM games with someone, the game commands you fight a human opponent.what you got to lose?
  23. yea,i would of pre ordered like i have for all the others, but, there was no DL option only, and the jump to 27 dollareedoo's for postage, was a tad excessive for me.whats the story there?
