  1. G,day 1.hard to say, personaly if it was me,CMBN and its add ons,as i like the normandy theatre.however Red thunder is almost out,so maybe the eastern front is worth the wait.the games are all the same game play wise. 2.can be real time, but the majority play wego.youtube would probably be best for some better ideas on how it works.nothing like COH or MOW,no hit points.simulated real combat. 3. as real as it gets within reason and can be very micro intensive, once you start to master the concept, you'll be glad it is. welcome to CM,you wont find anything close to this game,if ww2 is your thing? you wont be disappointed. edit.i'd like to add,the game really shines when you play another human opponent.get a few games under your belt and find a CM club to join and start playing humans, its the only way to fly.
  2. it appears the site that had that massive 1/6th scale train and german column is no longer around,a real shame i could only find a couple of pictures that dont do it justice on google search onesixthcollectors.co.uk or something doesnt seem to exist anymore.
  3. yes ,mike ive seen the train station diorama before,it was/is incredible. the amount of models in it was astonishing. i'll see if i can dig it up again. my favourite in the posted site,is the Jagdpanzer IV with the real foilage background,i had to look twice as it looked almost like the real thing ,crew and all. anyway, ive just ordered a harder and steenbeck airbrush from europe, far to expensive to buy here in oz,base price is 500 bucks, half that from germany, including postage. ive had a few other airbrushes, but, the time has come to go for some quality tools. a friend of mine, who lurks around the forums here,is the local rep for vallejo paints,so im in the good books, and get em at cost. best paints ive used so far.
  4. guys,i found this site on FB as im a scale modeller ,i thought i'd share it some absolutely class work going on here https://www.facebook.com/pages/Material-Clasificado/348933305188660
  5. BBer is the abreviation for us blood bowl players sorry, try again:)
  6. its just a problem with animations for my mind so i tend to ignore it. but i agree it looks a bit odd at times i also would like to see at some point angling of armor improved. most tank manuals/training assume you angle the armor front for best protection, clearly stated as *meal time* in the tiger operators manual i have. obviously this is a minor issue and may or may not be achievable in the programming.i dont see it mentioned too often in the forums,so i thought id bring it up. i think some sort of lock position using the face command may suffice?
  7. G,day mate Plenty of clubs around that you can join that have large player bases whom generally play PBEMs.
  8. i would suggest there are no good guys. just a lot of old men and chest puffing, sending kids who dont know any better, off to do their dirty work.
  9. i remember seeing CMBO in a local PC mag here in Adelaide, whilst i was playing panzer general 3D,i think there was just one picture and a small sentence or two about the game in the article.i believe there was a demo listed in the article with an address, after playing the demo i immediately rang my wargamming freak mates and we all placed our orders i can still remember trying to figure out how to order it from BTS over the internetz,as it was all very new to me back then. it arrived within a few weeks and within a few more weeks i was in the chat rooms at CMHQ and eventually joined my first CM club(dogs of war, which was the forerunner of WeBoB,which im still a member of.) 10 years on and im still involved, maybe one day i may even volunteer myself for active service. Life changing event for sure, one im quite thankful for, though i doubt my wife would agree. too bad for her:)
  10. as you can add non steam games to their interface,i guess it doesnt matter whether its for sale there or not. my main reason for using it is the interface/UI as CM has no lobby, matchmaker or any other form of getting a game online, steam fills this role well. i can see who is a CM player, who is logged on and who is actively looking for a game. i also can use the screenshot features, which have free hosting of any screenies i care to take, videos can also be linked to the interface. i get various PMs via steam about these screenshots ,asking what game it is. if its a choice of NO lobby or steams version, its a no brainer for me. my only real concern is the clunky TCP/IP hookup system, which is very hard for average players to work out and can be unreliable ,listing of multiple IPs in the game menu,is confusing for most.i would love to see this overhauled in the future to help people actually play the game instead of fighting routers to make a connection.
  11. there is already a big CM following on steam,im a member of 3 groups, and, the game isnt even available to purchase through steam.
  12. keep up the good fight mate i'm certainly with you,i think a lot of players spend more time on the forum than actually playing the game,if their of the opinion its all apples? and speaking of game,in my opinion AT guns just aren't worth the risk in any competetive game i play. i dont play the AI only humans. ive tried to give the AT guns a good shake,in all forms the game allows. i love AT guns, but,i cant stand the way they are represented at the moment, had a beautiful defense QB with baneman awhile back,a defenders dream his advancing troops were able to spot my concealed AT gun emplacements too easily. i selected an airborne force and wanted to use their available assets and not cherry pick a more suitable force. in short they didnt fire a shot the entire game.they are clumsy, slow, too hard to position with any reliability, take to long to move and setup, and get spotted far to easy at range. why anyone would take an AT gun over an SP/TD is beyond me i dont care if BFC fix them or not.i just refuse to waste valuable points on them. they are crap, sorry. and just to make sure,i tried it again with the latest patch against another BoBer,sadly same result, total disapointment. apart from that,im sweet:) edit, just to specify an issue ive got. 57mm AT gun at around 800m from the enemy approach,in a reasonably thick forest, set one action square back in,behind a sandbag wall, right? around turn 3 or 4 a HMG42,opens up on the hidden gun and suppresses it until its blown to kingdom come by a tank of some discription a few turns later. i couldnt even tell where the MG fire was coming from either, even though i had the AT HQ team on overwatch in the same area, approx. bloody maddening. apples? i think not.
  13. buttoned up tight, under lots of small arms fire,as it came around the building to get at my troops, ran right over the same action spot,a lone fella,as stated, took it out. the crew bailed and a few seconds later the destroyed icon came up. i'll just assume he lobbed the nades or watever he had into the engine bay, which i might add,the germans use petrol not diesel, and leak like sieves.it catches fire and burns to the ground.forcing the crew to flee the burning hulk.just as the fuel tank goes boom. seems reasonable enough to me. there was also a multitude of dead and dying fella's in and around the same area,so plenty of tank repellent tools lying around, quite reasonable, but, hardly a common event in game, thus why i enjoyed it so. won the QB for me that guy. lest we forget:) im trying it on again in another QB as Jerry this time.ran a squad with no AT weapons showing in their inventory.ran em up to the bocage, with a cromwell on the other side.within a few seconds ,cromwells on fire and crew running.this time my guys gunned the crew down, for a nice change. they had 6 grenades and used most on the tank and a couple of the crew as they fled. no infantry supporting the tank is why i was able to pull it off
  14. storm in a tea cup currently reading some exploits of german troops climbing the bocage to drop explosives on the troops on the other side. theres even a team that used poles/fence posts to push explosives through the bocage similar to a bangalore,as vehicles pass by humans are ingenious creatures when they need to be interesting that this has come up,should we assume you shouldnt be able to shoot through the bocage either? are realism facts/fiction starting to affect gameplay? moving vehicles along the bocage was bloody dangerous and in game your crazy to do it without screening the area it gave/gives the normandy defenders excellent cover concealment and ambush opportunities.the hedgehog wasnt designed for no reason. on a side note,i just finished a game where a single remaining member of a US 60mm mortar crew, with nothing but 2 grenades in his arsenal and an empty tube, close assaulted a stug as it tried to drive over him. was a great gaming moment to watch and he was awarded the silver star for his action, posthumously of course,as the crew bailed and promptly killed him:) Good show wot?
  15. from 290 onwards it would appear.posted in tech support
  16. i rarely play scenarios thesedays i do however appreciate the maps contained therein as i can easily mod them for use in QBs,my prefered method of play i spend a bit of time in the editor to create QB maps,as i quickly run out of new ones to battle my opponents on i really miss the old map generator but understand the explanations of why it wont work in CM2 still would be a handy tool even if you have to manually tweak the oddities it throws up?
  17. so far so good CMBN updated and saves converted without a hitch FPS is good, but, its always been good on my PC? draw distance appears to be improved, havent played any huge maps yet though and load times seem quite good. CMFI,is giving some inaccurate unit info text, however.(previous saved games) but i could care less about that, the 2 games i have are almost complete anyway. good job boys.thank you
  18. welcome to CM yes,an advanced strategic layer would be heaven for all of us i think there are various threads on the subject so far there are only 3rd party solutions for this. a friend of mine has an excellent system used for the IL2 series, but,i believe parsing the files is required and afaik isnt possible with the CM engine. i believe BFC have stated they dont have any intention of developing one at this stage. but would consider supporting a 3rd party option,if it was good enough. i would happily support a good 3D strategic layer for CM,maybe a kickstarter project may be an idea to raise money for a development of one, but,it would need to have all the bells and whistles that modern gamers require BFC arent a huge company and im sure they got there hand full with their current situations anyway, welcome to CM find yourself a club to join and play some human opponents, tis where the game really shines Cheers
  19. think there may be a limit to how many can fit in the bunker, try splitting a team off. demo charges are automatic, just move up to within an action square and they should blow it in time
  20. CMFI different base game altogether, with one expansion so far, gustav line CMBN,has a few add ons and up dates CW+2.0 upgrade+MG will bring you up to date
  21. thanks,i did have a quick read of the manual but didnt see it. this was actually an CMFI QB now that i double checked, which i guess makes sense anyway the teams were from 3 individual platoons,so i wasnt aware of that limitation appreciate the reply i'll do some testing now i guess
  22. again i ask, can the kzGrW 42 8 cm mortar crews share mortar rounds with other nearby teams of the same type? are there any limitations or exceptions for sharing ammo? also, can the above scavenge ammo from a knocked out or dead team?
  23. i have a question, may or may not be a bug in a recent QB H2H i have some light mortars that come attached to my fallschrimjaeger platoons which dont appear to want to share ammo? 3 teams within a tile of each other,or even on the same tile one team has lost its mortar somewhere, but isnt knocked out, just cant deploy 2nd team has only one crewmen left 3rd team has 2 crewmen not pinned or otherwise terrified team with the lost mortar has 20 odd rounds listed left team 3 has 12 rounds ammo bearers are roughly in the same area no sharing going on whatsoever? feature or bug, guys?
  24. see the link under my signature,is the one ive been with since 2001 im sure others will be along to link you to other clubs
