1. That statement is an affront to all refreshing monkeys everywhere! I'm sure you will know about CMBB's release if you continue to monitor this site.
2. If the old machine has a CD burner you could burn the directory to a CD and paste it into the new machine. Since both are network ready you can use a router, especially if you are going to have both computer share the cable modem, then just transfer the directory by enabling file sharing. Or, if you don't want/need a router you could get a null modem cable that lets you connect the two machines together without a router or hub.
3. CMBO - Battle Chest Includes the following: CMBO: Ultimate War in the West edition CMBO: Gold Edition CMBO: Elite Edition CMBO: Golden Elite Edition War in the West Edition $69.96 plus S&H Professional installation available for an additional fee.
4. CMBO loads with the CD in either my DVD-ROM or CD/RW drive, so it doesn't necessarily have to be in the lowest lettered drive, unless I am misunderstanding something.
5. What about Kettenkraftrads? (Did I spell that right?)
6. Andrew, I'd take any of your uniform mods in a CMMOS version. I know that's not your department, but, Marco, please!
7. Stop adding cool stuff!!! I am not going to be able to afford CMBB. Based on what we have been shown so far, the game is going to cost something like $1,000. BTS, please restrain yourselves!
8. I use it. I haven't installed 3.0 yet because I am waiting for more rule sets and hopefully a mega download so I don't have to download 100 files.
9. Very nice unis ya got there. Are you going to add personal equipment such as canteens, gasmasks, and haversacks?
10. I was once playing a scenario I had designed, thus I knew all the vehicles present, and a SdKfz 7/2 was misidentified as a Marder. It appeared as if the Marder's gun was at a right angle to the hull, but it was really the rotated flak cannon. Your situation may be similar.
11. As much as I love CM, I could think of better things to do on my honeymoon. However, I don't think I will have to make that choice anytime soon.
12. I don't see what the big deal is. Just let this thread settle to the second page.
13. What exactly should I be downloading, assuming I had everything that was there before today?
14. I saved the modem. I never throw anything away. I was trying to download IE5 and it was a few months ago, so it wasn't related to any recent MS problems.
15. I had the same type of card and it was acting up on me too. I turned off FSAA and the problems went away. Then I upgraded.
16. I wasn't using Windows Update since it doesn't support Win95. Access to Windows Update is one of the reasons I wanted to upgrade. I was too busy at work today to try brooktrout's suggestion, but I will as soon as I get a chance. P.S. wwb, you helped me when one of my computers was hanging during boot up. It turned out to be a fried modem, or so I thought. I took out the modem and the computer worked fine. Then I replaced it with one of those metal thingies that fills in an empty slot space on the back of the PC (what the heck are they called?), and the computer would hang again. I took it out and computer is fine again. It seems very strange to me. [ 01-16-2002: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]

17. The GForce 3s should be more than adequate for CM2. As far as fog effects, I have no idea. Look for some other posts here on the subject. I don't think ATI has any plans to add this to their cards.
18. Couldn't he just take a picture of his screen with a digital camera, take it to a photo shop and have them print it out, mail the photo to Madmatt who can then scan it and post it? Why do you guys have to make such a simple thing so complicated?
19. I have the Leadtek GeForce3 TI200 and it is great. I had a GeForce 2 before, so there is not much improvement on CMBO, but there sure is a noticeable difference on other games such as Operation Flashpoint and Medal of Honor. The card enables me to crank the graphics options all the way up. The Titanium 200 cards go for around $160 to $200. I got mine at www.newegg.com The most powerful in the GeForce 3 line is the Titanium 500, which goes for $300 to $350, but are tough to find right now. Several companies make these cards but they all use the same NVidia chips, so performance is nearly identical. The difference is the outputs (s-video, DVI) and the bundled software. It is my understanding that NVidia announces its new chips in the spring, so you might want to wait to see what happens. You will likely see a price drop on the current cards when the new ones come out. The top of the line Radeon cards are of comparable performance to the GeForce 3s, but I don't think they support fog effects.
20.
quote:
Originally posted by Zitadelle: I am not sure if there is a problem or not on the website, but when I tried to download the Churchill mod, the notification and link that I received was for Tiger's Challenger mod.

Me too.
21.
quote:
Originally posted by wwb_99: Rule #1: If it ain't broke don't fix it. WWB

I kind of agree with that. None of the machines is really having a problem. There really isn't much software installed on them besides what came pre-installed. The one problem I am having is that one machine won't let me install IE. No matter what I try the installation stops when it tries to access MS's site. I get a message along the lines of "cannot proceed with installation - not able to access the internet." The computer has a DSL connection and works fine otherwise. I even bought an IE disk thinking the whole program would be on it and it wouldn't need to access the net. Aparently even the disk just has an install program that tries to access the net. Netscape won't work with some sites and I really want IE on this computer (it's my boss' computer). I was thinking the upgrade to 98SE would solve this problem. By the way, I would purchase an upgrade version of 98SE for $89 from Staples and use it on all three systems. Hi Bill. Thanks for all the responses. [ 01-14-2002: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]

22. Three of the four computers in my office are still running Win95. Two are PII 260s and one is a PIII 300. Each has about 128MB of RAM. I am thinking of upgrading them to Win98. Is upgrading simply a matter of installing the upgrade, or will I have to reinstall all my programs and drivers? Or should I just leave well enough alone?
23. I don't know if it will help with this problem, but bump up your RAM to 256MB. 64MB is a bare minimum to run Windows. Your video card should be sufficient to play any scenario in CM without any trouble, even with hi-res mods installed.
24.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: A general rule of thumb is that the European consumer is about 2 years behind the US one in terms of buying habits and cutting edge technology.

Then how come all the infomercials on late night TV advertise products, such as cleaning solutions and knives, that Europeans have been using for years?
