  1. When you place your units while designing the scnario you will see reinforcement markers. Put those markers where you want the reinforcements to appear.
  2. I used CD Creater 4 and did a disc copy. Maybe your problem is that the crack was already there and the drive couldn't read it properly. There is no copy protection on CMBO unless it was added on later versions, but I don't think it was. You might want to try transfering the contents of the disk to your computer and then burning those files to disc.
  3. I don't think anyone would deny the benefit to the user, but the issue is the right to sell the material.
  4. Unless you have a licensing agreement with Battlefront.com and/or Big Time Software and also perhaps from the artists that created these mods (which, as far as I know, were done with BTS's permission and not for the purpose of resale) this offering would constitute a copyright violation.
  5. I'm pretty sure Battlefront will send you a replacement disc for a nominal charge. Send an e-mail to Madmatt. Also, you can make a backup copy of the CD.
  6. That camera man sure had some cajones to stand in the line of fire like that. We can only hope that someday CM will look as realistic as this actual combat footage.
  7. I had this same problem a couple of months ago. There is a thread on it here if you want to do a search. I use a program called Ad Aware that fixed the problem. When you run it, it finds all the spyware on your system and lets you delete it. It also lets you back up everything you delete in case you delete something you shouldn't have. It's amazing to see all the crap that gets through despite virus checkers and firewalls. A real tipoff that something unwelcomed is running on your system is to frequently check the programs running with ALT-CTRL-DEL. If you are familiar with what should be there you will notice when something new comes along.
  8. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by MikeyD: No! No! Not the Demo, not the screenshot, not the T-shirt... It'll be the whopping big price increase! "Combat Mission: Barbarrella to Bardot, price is now $300 per CD, includes manual with fold-out center spread."<hr></blockquote> And it only runs on Windows XXXP.
  9. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Herr Oberst: Linus?... You mean that goofy kid in the charlie Brown comics who keeps waiting for The Great Pumpkin every year? What has he got to do with any of this???<hr></blockquote> It's on ABC tonight. I think it's the first time it's not on CBS. Since we're all reminiscing, do you remember the way CBS used to introduce the Peanuts specials with the big SPECIAL rotating around the screen in vibrant color (because we didn't all have color). And every other commercial was for York Peppermint Patties.
  10. I started with Pong, but gave up on it because the mods were few and far between. Then I got an Atari 2600 when the price dropped to $50. That was my first major entertainment purchase. The kid across the street had an Intellivision, but I didn't really like it except for some wargame that featured moving subs around the globe. You had to use the keypad, which made no sense to me. If it didn't have a joystick I didn't want it. FF to Combat Mission.
  11. I don't have XP, but I read in some computer magazines that XP can be run in different modes such as 98 to emulate older versions of the OS, thereby tricking the older programs into running. So, I think it is more than just for appearances. I think XP has a "classic mode" or something like that for appearance purposes. I don't know if this would solve the XP trouble that people are having, but it couldn't hurt to try it. If the problems are driver related I don't think running under Win98 emulation is going to help.
  12. Scorcher, I live in L.A. and CM took about a week to get to me, so you can use that as an estimate, barring any delays due to current events. Download and play the demo if you haven't already.
  13. And to really save time they could distribute it directly to all the warez sites. Wouldn't have to deal with all those PITA credit card orders either. Personally, I would love to be able to download game software to save the expense on packaging and shipping. But do any game publishing companies do it this way?
  14. The batch files go in your CMBO main folder. But you might want to use CMMOS instead. I think all the batch file mods have been updated for CMMOS use and CMMOS is a lot easier to set up than the batch files.
  15. I was going to suggest that, but I didn't know if your hosting service limited bandwidth. From what Manx said, even a visit to your page takes up bandwidth even if nothing is downloaded. You could have a header saying: "Did you come here looking for porn? Well, you found it! Welcome to the world of Grogporn!!! Please provide your Adult Checker password or sign up for an account. For a low cosit it not only gives you access to modsluts.com, but also to hundreds of other sites!"
  16. There are a few things you can do that would surely get him here, but I don't think he would appreciate it. Happy Birthday MadMatt! [ 10-26-2001: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]</p>
  17. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Manx: Who says i going to CMHQ? And even if i was, it certainly wouldn't be "mine". <hr></blockquote> I think I saw it on the CNN crawler this morning. I could be mistaken. If, hypothetically, you, hypotheticlly, did, hypothetically, work for CMHQ, hypothetically, we could call it TMM's CMHQ, which would stand for Ted, Manx, and MadMatt's CMHQ (hypothetically). It would still be popularly referred to as CMHQ. Pascal, you may want to add the CM before modsluts if you want to keep the hit count low.
  18. Fire from a sharpshooter will almost always button up a vehicle with one shot, and can do it at long range as well. This extremely important against the AI since the AI never unbuttons a vehicle once it is buttoned. It is obviously less effective against a human opponent, but even buttoning a tank for one turn can give your own armor ar AT weapons a better chance. I don't know how often a sharpshooter will shock a crew, but in my experience it is about 10% of the time. If you do use sharpshooters don't let them get too close to the fighting as they are useless up close.
  19. I think modsluts.com is a great name, but Pascal probably won't be hosting too many mods based on the space he has available. On the other hand, if he uses that space to quickly host new mods before other site such as Manx's CMHQ can get them hosted, then perhaps modsluts.com is a very appropriate name.
