I like the scale of the game, but there should be an Advanced Game version to make it a better simulation. Also the North Africa portion of the board is too narrow. This game is not even as deep as the original Third Reich released as a board game in 1975.

I would like to see an Advanced Game that offers more sophistication such as: 1) unit stacking; 2) armor units that can exploit holes in the enemy line.

I thought that my soundcard might be too old, so I decided to upgrade to a newer Audigy soundcard. Do you think that this might solve the problem? PS: This is the same problem that I've had before, except that CMBO used to freeze instead of stutter. Thanks.

I have a Soundblaster Live! Value soundcard and get lots of sputtering sound loops. At some random points in the scenario, the sound will stutter and repeat itself much like Max Headroom used to skip/sputter his speech. The game used to lock up somewhat often. Since I upgraded to a new motherboard and 1.6 Ghz CPU, the lockups don't happen but I get stuttering instead. Any explanations or solutions? I'm running Windows 98SE. Thanks.

Thanks for answering, Schrullenhaft. I installed CMBO as a Typical install. I don't think that this is a partial install. Isn't there a Custom install that takes up more HD space that you have recommended somewhere else in this forum?

Please someone advise me on the best method to re-install CMBO while keeping my mods and the CM Mod Manager. I plan to do the full install this time. If I save my current BMP file elsewhere, will I be able to move it back into place with no trouble? I think that I can. Am I wrong? What is the best sequence for installation of the patches? My CD came as version 1.03 (I bought it in August of 2000). Thanks much.

Oops! I spoke too soon. I had a total lockup just now. Had to reboot from on/off switch.

Schrullenhaft!! I can't believe it. I may have solved my CMBO lockup problem. I have played around 100 turns with not one lockup. I decided to try one more time to install the latest Soundblaster Live! Value drivers and the problem seems fixed. I tried this fix several times before, but it never worked before. This time it worked because I finally figured out how to install the drivers correctly. Thanks for the help. Now, Gentlemen, where can I find the best Single player scenarios?

Schrullenhaft: I'm running my system with 512 megs of RAM installed. Do you think this might cause lockups? How do I run with less without physically uninstalling RAM?

I have the same problem. I can find no solution, tho I've been searching for months.

Lockups occur with Unreal Tournament and Quake II, but not with another 3D game called La Grande Armee: Austerlitz. No 2d game ever locks up. I'll try a clean install of the game with no mods. How does one do this without messing up the original installation? How does one check for a bad memory module? Thanks.

"Did you already change your video drivers ?" No, I still have the latest video driver. "Do you have anything running in the background (do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and see what is normally loaded when you boot) ?" I have minimized that. "Are you running with many mods (video and sound) ? Have you tried CM without mods to see if your lockup problem is consistent ?" I have mods installed. CMMOS and some sound mods. Do you think that this could be the problem? Thanks.
