1. My offer is still on the table for anyone interested. Double-blind PBEM, a turn a day, more on the weekends. Address is in my profile.
 2.
quote:
Does anyone know if "off-Map" artillery has the same damaging effect on hidden (Symbol showing)enemy as it does on visible enemy.

Yes, arty has the same effect on units whether in LOS or not.
quote:
Also, how about shelling an area where hidden symbol is NOT showing, but I suspect enemy is in the target area.

Works in real life, works just as well in CM. Nothing more rewarding than bombarding an area blind, then watching several smoke pillars rising up thru the trees
quote:
One other observation - I was shelling a Hidden rifle troop, a shell scored a direct hit on the symbol, after the dust cleared there was no sign of the enemy - Did I actually blow them up into tiny pieces ??

The symbol represents the last known position of an enemy unit, so they could have moved before the rounds started falling.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Jarmo: Jumbo's armour was downdgraded at one point. Turned out that the armor was blah blah blah Rexford blah hlah blah multipliers blah blah blah. And so it's now less powerful.

It still pretty powerful when you consider the amount of ammo blah blah blah JasonC blah blah blah firepower blah blah blah.
 4. Is anyone interested in trying this one out as a double-blind PBEM? E-mail me and we can work out the details. My address is in my profile. BTW, thanks Steve
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by argie: British troops used wire guided Milan missiles against Argentine infantry troops in Malvinas .

Don't you mean the Falklands?
 6.
quote:
I have never seen Gebirgsjagers.

I've been playing the full version for almost a year now, and to this day I've yet to generate a QB with GB units in it. I know they were rarely used, but then again weren't Pumas just as rare (and God knows how many times I was given one of those). Has anyone gotten a GB unit in a QB?
 7. Here's the U.S. armoured divisions web ring: http://www.737thtankbattalion.org/Webring/divisions.htm
 8. When it comes to using AFVs in city fighting I just have one word...Snoul
 9.
quote:
how long will my anti personnel mines be active or effective? Do they 'run out' after awhile?

Minefields will remain active for the duration of the game, and they never run out or become 'diluted' if multiple units run over them (IOW it doesn't matter if ten vehicles were taken out by the same minefield, it still retains the same 'strength' of a newly laid field) The only way to remove a minefield is with an Engineer unit. Pg 92 of my manual states: "Engineers with demolition charges are able to clear gaps through minefields. Simply move them within 25 meters of the minefield and wait. It takes a few minutes (turns) to clear a gap through the mines. Additionally, engineers can clear Daisy-chain mines without the use of demolition charges." Hope this helps [ 07-01-2001: Message edited by: Kingfish ]
 10. Keep in mind that the entire operation was resupplied by airborne drop, so to keep things simple they employed standard commonwealth small arms. An exotic weapon hundreds of miles behind enemy lines isn't going to do you much good if you can't get ammo.

 12. Reverse the map edges, put the German column on a tree lined road, and then string VLs along the road like bread crumbs.
 13. By reversing the map edges you create a situation where the opposing sides start off in control of the others territory. The AI will attack more aggressivly to win back its territory.

 15. Call in some heavy artillery to detonate the mines, the heavier the better. Make sure the FO has LOS so as to really concentrate the barrage. Better yet, use more than one FO. That'll really help your guys out.
 16. Wyatt, Check out Michael Reynold's "Steel inferno" and John Keegan's "the 6 armies of Normandy". Both have decent maps, and I believe Reynold's book gives a good OOB for the Polish side. E-mail me if you don't have either and I can have the info to you later on tonight, along with the PBEM turn BTW, let me know when you need a play-tester.
 17.
quote:
Look for the sheep, Mace is the landmass directly behind

So I assume it's going to be a probe scenario.
 18.
quote:
Would you consider this using excellent tactics by your opponent, or would you consider this gamey, because your opponnent is exploiting the the fact that the map is only very small and the terrain sort of allows it?

What the...?!? The attacker exploiting the map because it is small? You have a 1000pt force defending an 800m wide front, with two secure flanks to boot.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Username: Kettler's a star? Since when?

You obviously don't know the man. A very cunning and clever PBEM opponent, he e-mailed me when he found out he made the list asking me if I would like some wine. In fact, I remember him saying something like "Berli, piece of cake. 10 turns and out" or "I'm going to hand Fionn his head on a silver platter". I can't post what he said about the others (don't want to get banned, you know). John, Good luck
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Radar: Well, try zooming in on the little sign..(as for telling the mine type) and it will have a sticky exploding man or tank. Hence, AP or AT..

Radar, Which mines are you referring to? The AT mines in CM have a skull and crossbones, along with the words "Achtung Minen! Panzer!". I've yet to see one with an exploding tank. Both the regular AT mines and the Daisy chain use the same sign.
 21.
quote:
I've also seen mines from great distances. They were not daisy's. The distance was appx. 830 meters. They were spotted by a veteran Pioneer platoon HQ unit.

Just curious, how does one tell the difference between a regular AT minefield and a daisy chain once laid. AFAIK all you see is the generic mine post sticking out of the ground.
 22. A pillbox is a concrete fortification, and can have either an AT gun (75mm or 88mm) or 3 MGs. A bunker can be a dug out reinforced with logs, and is limited to one MG.
