1. Check out Franco's Op titled "We fight and die here" It depicts the battle of Domane Butgenbach in the Ardennes.

 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Fred: All those rediculous Peng or Hamster threats do not add anything to the game, and should better be redirected to the general forum.

Wrong! The peng threads keep the 'poolers...eh, pooled. You wouldn't want them escaping into the General population.
 5. The ratio of attacker to defender changes with each type. Something like 1/1 on the ME, 1.2/1 for attack and 1.5/1 for assault. Also, for ME the flags are roughly equal distance from both sides, attack has them about a third of the way into the defenders side, with assault having them about a 1/4 of the way from map edge. These are all ballpark numbers, but they should give you an idea.
 6. I bet Hiram's mailbox is overflowing with requests for ladder games
 7. Well I tried searching to point you to a recent thread, but had no luck getting it to work, so I'll tell you what I know. Regarding vehicle damage from collisions, although it would make sense to include it, you first must have some sort of collision avoidance coded into the game. Otherwise you will end up damaging your own vehicles trying to move a column down a road.
 8. I could be wrong on this, but I believe the largest gun (calibur wise) to see service was "Little David". IIRC, it was 900+ mm (914mm comes to mind) and saw limited action in Okinawa.
 9. Go here: http://www.derkessel.com/ Click on the historical battles section, go to page 4, download "Cintheaux-Totalize" and play as the Germans. IMO, an excellent scenario. [ 04-25-2001: Message edited by: Kingfish ]
 10. I just ran a little test to satisfy my curiosity, and it turns out I was wrong. Command bonuses are not tied to individual members of a HQ. You learn something new everyday
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Dave H: Please, don't do this. Next we'll get a "Mechanic" to get vehicles running again. Then it's only another step to the "Wizard" with a spell to change the weather.

Well, sounds like you won't like my idea of the brothel to improve troops morale, so'll just keep it to myself.
 12.
quote:
One sees a lot of footage of T-34s rumbling through forests knocking down trees and such.

Probably as much as you see tanks going thru walls or houses. Sure, it happened, but what TC is going to risk immobolization in the middle of a battle (especially in the middle of a pine forest, where the trees will both block the turret from traversing and conceal enemy AT teams from the now helpless tank). I think what you see in those film clips is already modeled with tanks being able to move thru scattered trees.
 13. I could have sworn I seen HQs drop a command bonus when a man gets hit, but I'm not 100% sure of this. I'm at work and unable to test this out, can someone be so kind as to run a little test to confirm this. Many thanks
 14.
quote:
I'm wondering if anyone else has thought it odd that the efficiency of HQ units in providing their combat bonuses doesn't appear to be reduced despite their own casualties.

Unless I'm mistaken, Command bonuses are tied to individual members of the HQ, so the loss of a man means a loss of a command bonus. That said, I agree with you that when HQs take casualties there should be some effect to command aside from the loss in bonuses. Perhaps a longer delay or shorter command radius. For all I know that feature could already be in the game, but haven't noticed it in the heat of battle.
 15. Just a few questions: Has anyone used this feature? If you don't know the member's number how do you contact him? Can we go back to search by member's names? Thanks for your time. BTW, I tried search but it timed out (T-1 line at work)
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Olle Petersson: Anyway, the main point was that driving a truck (or Jeep/Kübelwagen) down a road can't be gamey. Cheers Olle[/QB]

Why not?
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by aaronb: Someone (Berli?) got a perfect game against a human many moons ago in the demo Chance Encounter.[/QB]

Aaron, I think the person you are referring to is Bil (forgot his last name). IIRC, he got the win before the reinforcements arrived. Ironically, his next game was with Fionn in the sunken lane. Talk about two extremes.
 18. Looking for PBEM opponent to play either "Breakthrough at Sedan" or "Counterattack at Arras". Either side is fine with me. Also, make sure to upgrade to version 44.9 before sending me your setup.
 19. IMO, the H39 rocks! A fast and lethal killing machine they are, and great gas mileage to boot. I once had a H39 take out a pine tree with three shots (first two were richochets) from 30 meters away. Damn tree didn't know what hit him.
 20. Question: Is this Op recommended for PBEM? I tried e-mailing the designer but haven't received a response. I'd like to know before my opponent and I get too far into it.
 21. Stop it Dan! We know you've been playing with them for some time now. Just stop teasing us like that. BTW, post some pix, will ya.
