  1. Actually there are quite a few tournaments and campaigns being played at the BoB (Band of Brothers) site. And all are very unique in their way. The joining process seems to be able to weed the serious players from the not so serious which leads to a lot of great games with some talented opponents from all over the globe. Right now I’m playing on a “Random” tournament where most, not all, catagories are chosen at random. Here players are scored individually. A brief description of “Muso57's Radically Random Tourney” “Once upon a time, in a world of virtual WWII combat, an mighty BoBer bigmac644 started a tourney where everything was random. It was a legend in it’s own lunchtime, bigger than Ben Hur, like the man himself. I didn’t like everything being random so I came up with a radical idea of having a random tourney with a few set params. It ended up being representative of a simultaneous intel gathering probe/securing operation by both sides towards the same central spot on the map using a reinforced company with limited vehicular support. So here it is, folks, Muso57’s Radically Random Tourney!!” Another I’m in, “Codeword Dortmond” is a team based tournament: This is the introduction from Nelson1812’s request for players OPERATION BARBAROSSA 22ND JUNE 1941 CODEWORD DORTMUND Until the 30th May when regimental commanders received their attack orders, the German troops considered there presents as a bluff or a demonstration against the USSR, prior to the invasion of Great Britain. However, at 1300hrs, 21st June 1941 Army Group North received the codeword “Dusseldorf”, the invasion of the USSR would precede at 0345hrs on 22nd June with an artillery barrage. Army Group North advised all its units with there own codeword “Dortmund” of the forthcoming surprise attack. After referring to Leningrad as the ultimate objective of the operations… Field-marshal Leeb highlighted the first intermediate object of the Panzergruppe. That was the River Dvina 185 miles from the start of the attack. By June 26: Army Group North had captured the town of Daugavpils and secured the Dvina river-crossings. Codeword “Dortmund” will be a mini CMBB campaign consisting of 4 games covering the journey from the start of Barbarossa, 22nd June until the 26th June. As in Sealion, each game will result in the number of miles; Army Group North can proceed forward. The objective is to match or better Army Group North, the soviets is to push back the invaders from whence they came… or even further. So if your looking to keep your hand in CM while waiting for new modules to come out I highly recommend the Band of Brothers.
  2. There seems to be posts most everyday in the Beta Forum so somebody is still working on it.
  3. Good show, excellent footage. The 3D shots of the Seelow heights out things in a better perspective for me.
  4. Outdated? There are several new CMBB/CMAK tournments being started up at the Band of Brothers website. In fact there are not only tournaments but Campaigns as well. I think the games won't be outdated until CMx2 comes out.
  5. Hunter said they were moving along and there would be no more news "this year". Like the Baron said, maybe January.

    System

Now with dual cores, of which I am not that familiar, becoming more popular what would the system requirements be?
  7. I'm playing in a running tournament over at the Band of Brothers website.
  8. A big consideration on file turn over would be where in the world your opponent is.
  9. Charl, There was nothing like finishing several long hard battles and for one brief moment realizing there was a possibility that I may have a chance to taste the sweet nectars of South Africa. And then of course the Nabla adjusted scores came out and, well, that was that. Thanks for all the years of sponsorship. You will be missed. Ted
  10. This was blogged in the end of June. Not to lomg ago in the software world: Posted by: Battlefront .com 6/29/2006 I just spoke with Bruce Poon from Hunting Tank Software today about Combat Mission Campaigns. The guy is insane, you know, trying to create this monster game. His place in the CM Hall of Fame is secure already, just for being insane enough to try, and even more insane to really be determined to finish it, too After a problematic last year when a member of the core team left and therefore a serious setback to the schedule, things are moving forward very smooth these days. Many, many bug-fixes are being applied, and a few huge steps have been made in the inter-communication between the CMC application and CMBB thanks to a few additional lines of code from Charles. We now have FOs appearing and planes as well. Graphics are getting an additional boost by the addition of noone else but Marco Bergman to the team, doing his usual magic with the countless unit graphics. As we’re nearing the next milestone with big steps, expect more news soon… and perhaps I’ll convince Bruce to start a blog himself, too, eventually Moon
  11. GreenAsJade beat me to it…. The Band of Brothers is an excellent site for individual games and tournaments. There are a couple of tournaments starting soon as a matter of fact. They also have Campaign games that are both Strategic and Tactical, sort of like and early CMC type of game. You should check it out. Everyone is a serious player (though played with good humor) and will finish what they start. All new sign ups must be sponsored by an existing Brother (a simple thing) and play and finish a scenario. There is a 6 months probation period before becoming a full member. This helps weed out those who are not serious about finishing what they start. It has great forums on many topics and a chat room for setting up quick TCP/IP’s among other things. So I had to laugh when you talk about tumbleweeds. I guess you just need to know what rock to look under.
  12. I'll check out the demo, if anything to practice using the interface for when the real CM2 come out, CM2 Normandy.
  13. LoL. Fish, Just stopped in to recomend to DerBlitzer "The Blitz.org" for tournaments(http://www.theblitz.org/index.php) when I read your sig line. Steven Wright is one of the best
  14. LoL, The victors share of the spoils is definitely a good reason to keep the team to a smaller size. A wine joke..... A priest is driving down to New York from Connecticut when a State Trooper pulls him over for speeding. The Trooper smells alcohol on the priests breath and then sees an empty wine bottle on the car floor. The Trooper asks “Sir, have you been drinking?” “Just water officer.” says the priest. The Trooper says “Then why do I smell wine?” The priest looks at the bottle and says “Good Lord, he’s done it again!”
  15. Cape, Why 40 players max? Is it hard to keep track of more than that? Since there will be operational and tactical situations is it intended to have staff commanders and field commanders? (or those who maneuver the troops to a battlefield and those who will fight it)
  16. You bet! Count me in. (Thinking to myself....Hmmmm, maybe I can get on a "team" that wins the wine. God knows I doubt I'll get to taste it any other way. That's if there's wine to win of course....Hmmmmm)
  17. No there isn't. and No there isn't. I haven't been following the Shock Force thread but there was talk of complete play back possibly, maybe, just might be, in the new engine.
  18. Bannon, Is this a good scenario for play vs the AI or must be two player?
  19. Looks like the game, I think it's called "Medal of Honor". Takes place in Normandy. First person shooter where you operate with a squad. It's has a fun demo. They all remind me of the origianl Doom but with much better graphics and of course takes place during WWII.
  20. Isn't it also true that as the fewer rounds you have left the slower the rate of fire will be?
  21. I’ve just changed my video card to an ATI Radeon 9550. Now when I open CMBB all the labels are just white boxes, sometimes you can see a hint of text. Other text also can not be read, turns, scenario name, ammo count, target information all just white boxes Can anyone help?
  22. Right now it looks as though it will be done along the lines of Holiens “Luga Breakthrough” tourney. That was a multi-scenario tournament where at the end of each scenario the Allied player with the best score played the Axis player with the best score in the next scenario, the second best played the second best, etc. So after the first round if you do poorly as the Axis player you would face an Allied player who did just as poorly in the next round. Kind of evens things out.
