  1. I am looking for a good small H2H scenario from the repository or another third party. I've played the one's that came with the game and am looking for something new. Thanks!
  2. I wonder if it had something to do with being lightly armored or soft skinned.
  3. Sure I'll play if your still interested. I've only played as basic training and only a few turns as a Veteran player vs the AI. Still have to get the command structure down. I would mind something small or at most medium. If your still game drop me a line at tramos1+at+optonline.net
  4. Great info, thanks guys. I will start with the Mountbourg Campaign. I opened it up and read the briefing and, yikes, there is a lot I don't know. I better crack the books before starting and learn all about "core" forces.
  5. Yup, I meant campaigns not scenarios. I didn't realize they were all meant just for the AI. I thought maybe the canned ones, the ones that came with the game, may be meant to play either as the AI or H2H. At the Repository there is no way to distinguish between a Campaign and a Scenario (or is there?) without clicking on it to read the description so I thought I would ask before going fishing for one. Just a note: I see under the "Best rated files in the last 90 days" there are two campaigns, "Devils Descent" and "A Bridge to Close". I'll assume both are against the AI and get to setting one up. Thanks for the info Jon.
  6. Does anyone know of a campaign designed specifically for playing against the AI? I would hate to burn a good H2H campaign playing single player. Thanks in advance for any input!
  7. Well said indeed. To the boys at Battlefront.......Cheers!
  8. I wonder if it would be possible when targeting a building it could ask, as in moving in to it, Level1?, Level 2?, or just choices of what levels you can see.
  9. GaJ brought up a point in a previous thread about hiding units not "peaking" to see whats around them. I was wondering about the same thing. I had a bazooka team behind a hedgerow next to a crossroads. I check the LOS, set a covered arc, give the "Hide" command and prepare to ambush any vehicle driving by. Only I find out the next minute they can no longer see the crossroads not 20 meters away! I guess when they hide they don't peak do they. Just wondering what everyone, other than setting an ambush for an enemy within just a few meters of a units hiding spot, use the hide command for?
  10. Other than being a grog is there a way in the game that you can tell what vehicles needs how many men to man the guns?
  11. The XO It was written in another thread that for a quick battle the XO was deleted from the OB to save points. Still a rookie at the game I am trying to work out how the command and control works. What is the XO good for? Is it just fluff? Is it just to take over the battalion if the CO dies or as a spotter of artillery? In CM1, I would sometimes detach a group from the main body using a company commander, say an engineer squad, a rifle squad and a bazooka and put them on a flank or make them a special assault force. I'm guessing this can't be done in CMBN (?) And if not why not? Cannot the battalion commander say "Major I want you to take some men and knock out those mortars" or "I want you to take some men and make sure no one gets past our right flank." Or is that Hollywood talking and things like that never happened in real life? Does loosing the XO disrupt the chain of command? Here is something I googled up: Created here is a basic guide that should help FSB XOs accomplish the myriad tasks with which they are faced. First, listed verbatim, are the 12 chief of staff (XO) duties specified in Field Manual 101-5, Staff Organizations and Operations, Chapter 6 (Staff Officer Duties During Preparation for, and Execution of, Operations). Each duty is followed by some techniques that can help accomplish that duty in the brigade support area (BSA). Finally, there is a more detailed discussion of the processes of each of those techniques. Executive Officer's Duties (FM 101-5, page 6-2): 1. Informs the commander, staff, and subordinate commanders of the progress in preparation for, and execution of, the operation through periodic intelligence and operations summaries. Techniques -- Radio Net Calls, Tenant Meetings, and Battle Update Briefs. 2. Ensures the staff provides the commander updated estimates and plans for future operations. Techniques -- Battle Update Briefings, Battletracking. 3. Coordinates efforts among the staff to anticipate requirements and develop recommendations to the commander for correcting shortfalls, actual or forecasted, in resources or mission accomplishment. Techniques -- Staff Meetings, Orders Process. 4. Supervises the staff's synchronization of the operations vertically, horizontally, chronologically, and geographically. Techniques -- Orders Process. 5. Supervises the integration of risk management during the operation, identifies hazards, and recommends control measures to reduce risk. Techniques -- Risk Management Procedures. 6. Supervises information flow in and out of the staff, including the analysis and assessment of all information and submission of recommendations to the commander. Techniques -- Orders Briefs, Communications Plan, Shift-change Briefs, Internal TOC Information Flow. 7. Supervises time management by setting and adjusting time lines. Techniques -- FM 101-5, Time Line. 8. Supervises the movement of command posts. Techniques -- Movement of the BSA. 9. Ensures the continuity of staff support and communication under all circumstances. Techniques -- Communications Plan. 10. Ensures the staff gets adequate rest and is placed where they can best support the commander. Techniques -- Shift Changes, Battalion ALOC Set up, Unit Ministry Team Set up. 11. Maintains contact with the commander and keeps him informed of critical information, regardless of where the commander places himself during the operations. Techniques -- CCIR, Communications Plan, Information Flow. 12. Knows who can make "what" decisions in the absence of the commander. Techniques -- CCIR, Wakeup Criteria, Staff Roles and Responsibilities.
  12. Hey Stat, not having played a quickbattle yet myself I was wondering what you meant by "Make sure you keep all of your higher command units on map....." Do you have a choice?
  13. If you would please give it a try, I'd like to see what happens. Thanks Erwin.
  14. I wouldn't think it would be a problem on my machine. I have an HP Pavilion 9280, 6600 quad core, 9Gig Ram, ATI Radeon 4800 series vid card. Can you run two games at the same time?
  15. Is it possible to open two CMBN games at the same time? If I open CMBN and try to open another game, so I can play two PBEM's simultaneously, by double clicking on the short cut on my desktop nothing happens. Sometimes I like to be able to play against the AI or setup another game while waiting for a return email from my opponent. Right now it seems I can only have one game at a time open. And with the long loading times it's inconvenient to have to close out a game and reload another. In CM1 days I could open multiple games and PBEM a couple/several opponents at the same time. Am I doing something wrong?
  16. I noticed that an AT gun doesn't fit in a trench. But I setup in a large crater. It look like it fits. Can an AT gun get some protection from being in a large crater?
  17. Ah, I see. Perhaps the two man team I loaded on to the jeep then became "the crew" and would not abandon the vehicle until it was knocked out. (the dedicated troops that they were). A lesson learned to be more careful in sending jeeps into harms way. Womble, sounds good the RT/WEGO theory. Thanks for the replies!
  18. Why is that? How come you can drive for 15 seconds and have to wait 45 seconds until the next turn to give the dismount command. I had two guys in a jeep drive down a road come to a stop and start to receive incoming fire and just take it until they were dead. So there's no auto dismount under fire either like in CM1?
  19. Reminds me of a scene from a movie........ Pvt. Cowboy: God almighty, you guys smell like you fell into a dung heap Crapgame: Kinda makes ya homesick, don't it? Pvt. Willard: [to Pvt. Cowboy] You know it does, kinda ,don't it old buddy?
  20. Just wanted to point out one of the bonuses I found in the FRAPS program. I have multiple monitors and when I did a print screen I would capture the screen on all the monitors and had to crop out what I didn't want. FRAPS just captures the CM screen. (I load it in to Paint or Photoshop and save as a jpg.) Works great, thanks.
  21. Yes, that's what I'll do. Thanks Erik
  22. I took your suggestions and downloaded the free FRAPS software and it seems you cannot change the screen capture from bmp to jpg without being a registered user (which costs $37). Or am I missing something?
  23. Yes it's Win7 64bit. So, no screen shots for me then? Nuts
  24. Ah, right in front of me nose. I'm looking for "Turn 12" or "Turn 12 of 45" or somefink. I got to get my head out of CM1. Thanks GaJ
