Thanks, I'll pass. C-Rations were quite bad enough without trying something that could be worse.  I never saw an MRE (Yeah, I'm old), but from what I've heard they may or may not have been an improvement. Most people I've heard that hated them never had a C-Rat, so there's that.
In contrast, our mess hall was very good.

I've seen plenty of those padded style helmets, but none of them looked like the figure in the model.
I'm thinking this is him without the helmet:

 
This...is entirely possible.
I debated that and decided the head is okay with the hands, but without being able to remove the helmet from the equation, I can't be sure.

To summarize, hand-made scenarios by some of the most evil, twisted designers that ever were allowed outside of an asylum. These men take the high art of torturing grogs to a new level....I swear to god I had nightmares.

These scenarios are not balanced and in fact some cases are downright unfair!! The Nabla scoring system (outlawed in at least three countries btw) doesn't measure the players final score, it measures his very worth as compared to every other player in the tourney. I have personally seen grown men break down and weep like babes when the numbers were crunched and it was time to "come to Jesus".

What is Rumblings of War????.....the best time you will have with your clothes on....check that I am convinced some crazy bastards played naked except for warpaint. To win is to become a God among men, to lose is to be expected.

Agreed, 110%. I have been a long time subscriber and even re-bought the CMSF2 series on Steam because I want to support the team. Looking forward to the updated engine that gets tossed around from time to time. I just held off on the latest "Fire and Rubble" series till the text issue could be sorted out properly. Admittedly, wish this could be incorporated into the install, rather than playing with options or waiting for the smarter players, such as yourself, that have a fix.

Gents, you are awesome! The blurry text in this game and Black Sea, put me off to the point of not wanting to play. I purchased this one, in hopes the development team might have fixed the problem, however, to no avail. You have indeed put forth the fix I needed to succeed and dive into this newest title. Heck, might even give their WWII releases another look.

Try Red Army by Ralph Peters.  Lt Plinnikov is commanding a BRDM platoon.  He doesn't last long in the story, but it is a good description of how the asset is used in the larger picture.

Yes. This is exactly what I had in mind.

I was offered the option of making a tribute to a true original of the Combat Mission Forum:  Dan 'Berlichtigen' Brown.  'Berli', as everyone knew him.  Scenario designer, game tester, map maker, and Old One of the Peng Challenge Thread.  For young people, and for new members of this Forum, that means probably nothing.  For anyone who lived through 'Running with Heavy Machine Guns', 'Bren Tripods' and any number of other weird ass forum topics, he stomped upon the fecking terra.  He was, in fact, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso.  And you probably don't even know what that means.  
Well, I haven't known what to make of that offer.  It's been 9 months since 'Berli' died of a particularly vicious and aggressive form of leukemia (neither capitalized nor bolded).  The Peng Challenge limps on, and I give full marks to to those who have it on life support.
And now...Now I'm here because I am an Old One of the Peng Challenge Thread, and I have lived so long, and so long with all of this, that I am having to mourn friends more often than an old man should have to mourn them.
Glenn Allan, 'Stuka', Seniour Knight of the Peng Challenge Thread has died, of an extremely aggressive kidney cancer, and brain tumors.  Stuka was one of the Senior Australians of the Peng Challenge Thread, a thread that has always mocked, and embraced it's Australians.
Stuka was, for anyone reading this, probably fecking better than you.  He wasn't an old man.  He was a bloody good Australian.
I would ask, if it is possible, for the Combat Mission guys, if we could have... I don't know...it gets so stupid, trying to find the latest incarnation of the Thread of Threads...if we could have our 'own' space.  Shorn of 'whatever the current game version' is.
Go to your rest, Stuka.  You were one of the first Australians I ever abused.
