  1. Deep breath sandy....deep breath. First, just until we have time to determine if you have the most recent graphic drivers and things like that, go into Options and lower the settings. That should take care of the flickering graphics. If it doesn't then you have a more serious technical issue that has nothing to do with how playable or unplayable the game is. Next, (you're not gonna like this one) RTFM. CMSF is not the same game as CMx1. The user interface is completely different. Do not expact it to work the same way because it was not designed to. The short answer to your set up question is to select "move". If you move the unit with the set up area it will move there. If you move it outside the set up area then as soon as the game starts the unit will move there (you have essentially plotted it's first move). The set up areas are colored areas that are the same color as what is underneath your units when you get in the game.
  2. I have a small window of time to play TCP if anyone is interested. My open IM program right now is Windows IM and I can be found unsing "kpricepi@hotmail.com"
  3. 100% sure Mark. When "2 player TCP/LAN" is selected there are no other options for type of play. Becket, I LOVE TCP CM. Always have. But if it is time issue an entire CM:SF TCP game can be done in 15-20 minutes if it's set up that way or someone gets spanked too quickly. Even single player battles that are set up as 45 minute matches end after half thattime sometimes.
  4. I saw a couple of PBEM RT and WEGO TCP posts I think. PBEM is WEGO only and TCP is RT only. It will be interesting to revisit this topic a month from now.
  5. Jon it is funny looking back on the posts in that thread. Heck, I even have one in there. BFC was still Big Time Software. Username was in there. You were. PeterNZer was still just PeterNZ. I could go on and on.....
  6. To answer the question I would have said WEGO. But testing I have played realtime almost exculsively. As a matter of fact, if WEGO doesn't work I blame myself for having not tried it in such a long time (except for PBEM....more about that after the release).
  7. One of these threads happens each time and it never gets old for me.
  8. No problem at all. You are able to license the game on 2 computer. You can download it on as many as you want but when you install you can only license on 2. So yes...go ahead and download at work and install at home.
  9. That you did. Lucky bastard. I sit corrected Martin. (idea of my post was that it was a bad idea anyway)
  10. I doubt there are any copywrite issues if someone wants to create their own site where they charge for downloading scenarios. The problem is that it is unlikely someone would use it over, what I anticipate to be, a large number of free scenarios that should be available. The only way that I see anyone paying would be if the got the repuation as being the most outstanding scenarios being made. Head and shoulders above anything else. Where people say "did you download the new scenario posted at www.greatestcmsfscenarios.com? They have the most interesting designs, best AI and most balanced scenarios I've ever seen." Without that everyone will just go to The Scenario Depot and trust the user reviews. No financial and not much time investment if the download turns out to suck.
  11. Taki, I thought Paradox was the main distributor in the UK and Germany. I imagine you can order through Amazon but it looks like are other sources for you to get it sooner.
  12. I can't let this go. You people worry about a frickin war game and boot camp and I bet NONE of you know what it was like to sleep on the a street in line overnight night to be early in line for Clash tickets with only a half pint og Wild Turkey and 2 measly joints to last the whoel night. Heck, back in those days we didn't even have CDs...just scrathy well worn vinyl records...not like your candy ass MP3 players and hoity toity laptop computers.Basic training my ass. Try making out with a girl thathas THREE safety pins in her cheeks!!!!! Not so tough now are you militaryboys. And some of these chicks were fat too..but we didn't care..it was tough times and called for tough men. "Oh, they made us get up late and run while it was still dark". Crimminy, try a 3 day bender where the only color you saw was black mascara and Union Jack tee shirts.
  13. I love the Clash. No one should ever be ashamed of that. Joe Strummer (Charles rest his soul) was brilliant. Mick Jones kept the focus. Paul Simonon and Tooper Headon kept the beat. You punks have no idea what it was like to love a REAL rock band. When you get to your iPods and finally get a taste for the real thing you will wet your panties and cry to your mommys. How can you even THINK about a game like CMSF when you haven't even focused on knowing songs like "Whiteman in Hammersmith Palias" or "Stay Free" or "Clamptown". You scum will never make with this immature attitude. You fookin kids need to grow up and listen to someting that matters and put away your Kelly Clarkson and Justin Timberlake CDs.
  14. No, NoxSpartana. Long before CMBO was released this AAR of an alpha build was posted one turn at a time over a fairlylong period of time. A lot of old timers followed it closely and hung on each new "edition" that was posted. Sergei is just upset that he lost The Open Championship and has decided to post the link for some fun. It was a good a read.
  15. I am not sure if SGT has played ToWor not. If he hasn't I will be the only one who has posted so far that has played both. They do not "feel" alike in any way. The mechanics of the game are completely different in both interface and under the hood. What ToW did for me though is make it so that I almost exclusively play real time with CMSF and if you had told me that a year ago I would have told you that you were crazy. Since ToW wasn't a clickfest (at least not to me) it caused me to be frustrated while watching a one minute turn unfold and not being able to alter what my units were doing until the arbitrary turn time limit had expired. PBEM doesn’t frustrate in the same way because I'm not playing a whole battle just a turn and then email. Oh, and the icons above the units look similar. But even that similarity goes away once you start experiencing the relative spotting that CMSF has compared to ToW. And for the record I really like ToW a lot
  16. Dirtweasle, can't speak of the other testers but I am your Joe Average. No knowledge of modern warfare, no military experience and I don't spend much time designing scenarios (you will my my name on the credits of none). But I play the hell out of the game. And as I told a fellow tester recently "our job is to break it" and I've been doing as good of job of that as I can.
  17. Lt Bull, if I was Bruce I would be fairly insulted by your idea that this has all been a basement/chat room idea by a bunch of ameturs who thought they could build a game and found they are over their heads. (not as insulted as if the comment came from someone who has actually seen the software but still insulted.) Which brings me to my point. You have no idea of the complexity of this game or the ability of the people building it to make that comment. I think it would be nice if you said you were sorry. Maybe shakes hands.
  18. Sergei, I would tell you about the Betamax version but it would violate my NDA.
  19. The Betamax vs VHS situation is a valid comparison. I always heard Betamax was better but once more people purchased VHS overtime Betamax faded into oblivion. I don't see that happening with Macs but is has got to be difficult to cater to both and if you have to choose one you are gonna choose the one the greatest number of people are using. SInce I don't have a Mac I would hope that any effort to make a Mac version would be directed at the next module as opposed to a Mac version.
  20. Hey Matt. If someone creates a second player and a player2 folder can they save it in there and keep their in progress campaign files?
