  1. Sdp, hi, Stunning quality work again... always is from you . All fans of CM are fantastically lucky that it attracts the interest of those such as yourself, and a small number of others, who add greatly to pleasure of the game by your work. Masses of fun to look forward to... We are lucky to have CM... All the best, Kip.
  2. Hi, Just to further enforce what many have said above. Slow and careful is the way to learn. Slow and careful “micro-management..” is the way to learn the game. Then you can speed up later. Pay no attention to game length. If a scenario ends before you have finished... fine just play another. If you know how I would go into the editor and increase the length of scenarios then play them. I “always...” do that. Set them to two plus hours and just call a Ceasefire when you are done with a scenario. When you can master CM playing slowly and carefully you will find you can speed up play. I enjoy micro-management anyway... . All the best, Kip.
  3. Hi, I would be happy enough to see a Pacific theatre title, one of the mainstream battles in the Pacific. But a new CM title is such a huge undertaking I guess Battlefront have to be confident they will get their money back from their investment. I think Europe with Panzers is where the money is in wargames when it comes to WWII. But maybe Steve will chip in and give a view. All the best, Kip.
  4. Hi, This will be mythology... but there is no real harm in that. All nations have their myths that make them feel good about themselves. It is called being normal. But it has nothing to do with military history. It’s a modern medieval myth like King Arthur is to the Cornish. The Finns started out with better doctrine and training than the Soviets. And then as the war went on the gap closed between the two. War being a form of accelerated evolution. If a player stays in the field it closes the gap with the opponent that started with the more effective methods. This happened with the Finish Soviet portion of WWII as well. All good stuff, All the best, Kip.
  5. Hi, You can rest easy... there is an Eastern Front title coming. And more later. Battlefront have been dealing with various bottlenecks in the CM production cycle. The most obvious one being taking on a second, fulltime programmer over the last year or so. As players of CM we have not yet seen the fruits of this expansion but it is not myth. At some point the time gap between CM releases of new titles and modules will drop dramatically. I hope they do not do this... . Let me add that CM Afghanistan is a great little title, stunningly atmospheric. But I trust no one other than Battlefront to directly produce any Eastern Front title. After a wait of twelve years there is no room for mistakes and omissions. This one matters . There is lots of CM stuff to look forward to, We are lucky to have CM.... All the best, Kip.
  6. Hi, Just came across this. I too think that using CM to resolve operational games is the ultimate way to use CM. Also... I too plan on resolving most contacts at the operational level. This also leaves room for “wing-men...” units controlled entirely by the umpires to add to the realism of the operational setting. BTW... not all CM battles need be HTH... some could be AI v human player or even umpire v player. With the umpire delivering a certain type of opposition rather than trying to “win”. Umpire delivering a true simulation to the player. All very interesting stuff... All the best, Kip.
  7. Hi, I have to say that after giving AP a very long go about two years ago I reached the same conclusion as Steve, superbly atmospheric, but no matter how much I tried could not get into the game play. However, the new English language manual and the big changes added in their new winter expansion may have cracked it. The Danish reviewers certainly think so. Will probably give it another go now... always had huge potential. All the best, Kip.
  8. Hi, Goodness... that is very clever stuff.... Congratulations.... . All the best, Kip.
  9. LongLeftFlank, I know it has been said many times before but this and your previous project are fantastic pieces of work... . Greatly looking forward to it.... All the best, Kip.
  10. Sdp, Just finished a QB using all your work and QB Mountainous 002. It was a huge success, very atmospheric and a great little battle. Thanks for the work, great mod, great QB maps and scenario/AI.. All the best, Kip.
  11. Hi, I agree.... We are very lucky to have CM and that it attracts so many fine scenario and MOD designers. Thanks to all.... As it happens I am in the middle of one of sdp’s Italian QBs.... hugely good fun! All the best, Kip.
  12. Hi, Well... happily for me I agree with just about everyone here.. . Bocage is not my favourite setting, but as others have indicated very soon we will have the CW module which is not about bocage. Mostly open, rolling, summer French countryside. A good mix for all types of warfare. Also... Yes... the Eastern Front dwarfs all others both historically and in terms of its interest as a wargames or simulation setting. Good to know when we get their CMX2 will be at its full maturity in the WWII version. But.. added to the above The Bulge is my favourite Western Front setting, hugely atmospheric, and coming soon! So the future CM wise is bright . All the best, Merry Christmas, Kip.
  13. Hi, Crikey... yes amazing! It constantly amazes me just how many smart people CM seems to attract as fans. How you do what you do I have no idea . I am not one of the smart fans.... Just a fan! Congratulations... All the best, Kip.
  14. Hi, Yes... CM has no equal. Truly so good it is a form of military history... . Looking forward to a long line of great titles and games to come. We are lucky to have CM! All the best, Kip.
  15. Hi, Thanks for that... Will keep an eye on it and look forward to more... All these sources add up and help a lot. All the best, Kip.
  16. Hi, Another piece of great work. Congratulations... stunning . I am a great fan of operations, using CM for operational settings and games so certainly do appreciate the effort. Extremely generous to make your work available to all. Thanks. All the best, Kip.
  17. Hi, Yup... I agree with others... well done.... great job. All the best, Kip.
  18. Hi, I add my vote to books by Ken Tout. Great writer. All the best, Kip.
  19. Stoppel, hi, They look great. Just the job. From the pictures I have seen this does represent the way the uniforms were mixed up, but am no uniform expert... . Thanks... All the best, Kip.
  20. Hi, With CM as no doubt with other wargames different players are looking for different features. Better game play/good game play means historical accuracy to me. My interest in CM comes entirely from its historical accuracy, as a form of military history. I have never taken part in high-intensity warfare in the real world but am strongly of the view that our digital heroes tend to be too heroic, too competent rather than less so. Thus I like units to average Regular in experience and Normal in motivation. With experience levels never going over Veteran and motivation never over High. As an average within a unit. The most “crack...” units on any front I would never set to great than an average of Veteran experience and High motivation. And only that very rarely. Do remember that in WWII all units were effectively conscript. There was not the down selection you may find in some professional units today. A very competent Corps commander from WWII, Brian Horrocks, believed in every ten man rifle squad there were two leaders, seven who would follow and one who wished he was anywhere but where he actually was. But each to their own..... It’s great to have experience and motivation as different settings.. will help the realism a lot when we reach the Eastern Front. All the best, Kip.
  21. Hi, The second the above praise... truly fabulous mod. Great and glad to have it. I agree... from a historical accuracy point of view that sounds spot on. Would get my vote. All great stuff... We are lucky to have CM and such great modders... Kip.
  22. Hi, Looks great.... very impressive. Looking forward to it... Congratulations.... All the best, Kip. PS... agree with Michael on the roads... white lines look too modern... .
  23. Hi, Wow... that would be a real stunner.... Never would have even crossed my mind such things would ever be possible. Makes me wonder what else Battlefront has squirreled away as long term, but still realistic possibilities . Lots to look forward too... All the best, Kip.
  24. sdp, hi, stunning stuff... truly very impressive. Amazed at how creative some are. Mind you if I remember your username correctly you have a history of producing great works for CMX2 so none of us should be surprised... . Congratulations... All the best, Kip.
  25. Permanent, hi, Congratulations... looks outstanding, stunning stuff... . Look forward to giving it a go tomorrow.... Thanks. All the best, Kip.
