  1. Hi, All versions of CMX2, including Afghanistan are very similar. Having said that all the WWII versions and of course future versions are going to be v2.0 of the engine which as you would expect does have some improvements. CM Afghanistan is the same version of the engine as CM Shock Force. It was developed under licence by a Russian team using the CM Shock Force engine. All the best, Kip.
  2. Hi, Congratulations... . Looks great. Am a big fan of these time of year related mods. Thanks... All the best, Kip.
  3. Mjkerner, That will be great... an entire new phase of CMBN will take off for sure...!! Bulge here I come . Looking forward to the mod.. All the best, Kip.
  4. Hi, Yup... a winter warfare mod would fly off the shelf. A “cosmetic...” snow treatment plus maybe eliminating leaves on trees and that would do the job just fine. Set weather to Overcast, up the wind strength and you are there. Have already played very successfully Bulge scenarios assuming a non snowy days. With Snow mod we would have hit the jackpot. All the best, Kip.
  5. Hi, Wow... that winter mod looks great.... If there is anyone with the talent and time don’t hold back.... Publish... !! I am not the only one who would jump at the chance to fight some winter battles, Bulge for example... . All the best, Kip.
  6. Broadsword, Absolutely... that is critical to a good operational game. The operational layer should be able to be resolved entirely at the operational level if people wished to. Of course they do not, with some resolved at CM level. All the best, Kip.
  7. Hi, Have finally cracked using Panzer Campaigns as a tool in an operational layer for CM. The editor in PzCs is fantastically flexible tool. You can very quickly build three versions of the operational situation at a given time. The Master version for use by the game umpire, me.. . Then an Allied version with Axis units edited for Fog Of War to be sent round to the Allied players and then the likewise an Axis version. Battles resolved at the operational level I do using the formulas from Dupuy. Of course some battles are resolved at CM and results applied. It’s all very easy but the time consuming bit is building the battles due to the maps. How are people approaching the map building problem? Just take a stock of maps for say CMFI, if that is the setting, and edit the nearest match to the required terrain for a given battle? All good stuff... and remarkable easy to do with the editor from PzCs.. All the best, Kip. PS Agreed.... use PzC Tunisia as operational layer?
  8. Dpabrams, Great to see this out there... Congratulations.. . All the best, Kip.
  9. dpabrams, I too greatly look forward to this conversion/mod. Great work... good luck with it... . All the best, Kip.
  10. Quick add on... Broadsword, That is exactly what I have done for my own consumption. Great fun too. I do appreciate all the work you put in. All the best, Kip.
  11. Hi, Broadsword.. Agreed... but as you imply, the raw, historical material is a better story than the Italian campaign. The third in the series, out early next summer, will I am sure be great as the material he has to work with is up to Army at Dawn standards. All the best, Kip.
  12. Hi, I do have a basic AI defensive plan for the original Tunisia scenario. Will make it available as soon as possible. “Basic...” but still quite useable defensive plans are quick and easy to do. More complex plans are very time consuming. Fuser thanks for the info on the bazookas. Was not quite sure if they were actually used. All the best, Kip.
  13. Hi, Maybe Broadsword or someone else would be kind enough to help, Did US forces have bazookas in North Africa? Had they already been introduced? I notice they are in the Tunisia scenario. Thanks... All the best, Kip. PS Am very much enjoying the scenario to which I have added basic, but quite useable, AI for the US forces.
  14. Broadsword, hi, Great to see it’s now out there... Off to download... . Congratulations... All the best, Kip.
  15. Hi, Looks very nice... . Congratulations... will look forward to seeing the finished item... All the best, Kip.
  16. Broadsword, hi, Looks great... looking forward to seeing and playing the scenario , All the best, Kip.
  17. Marco, hi, Yes... you have certainly got this down to fine art... . Look forward to it.... All the best, Kip.
  18. Broadsword, hi, Thanks for the offer to test, but I do not have the time to do a proper job. Would be saying yes under false pretences just to get a look at the scenario early . All the best, Kip. PS do hope it will soon out there .
  19. Broadsword, hi, Congratulations... have just seen this. Great idea . Off to dig out my copy of Army at Dawn.... . North Africa here I come.....! All the best, Kip.
  20. Pete, This one is a stunner... You and maps seem to be a good mix for us less talented users of them . Congratulations... ! All the best, Kip.
  21. Hi, This has probably already been said, but just in case... Battlefront is not expecting all their fans to buy all their CM titles/modules in the new CMX2 format. Happily the production line is warming up, coming up to speed and relative to times past there will be an avalanche of titles and modules. Just buy the ones you want. There will be “big ticket items...” such as Normandy, Bulge and Eastern Front titles. There will also be “small ticket items... “ such as Sicily. Only some people will want all of them. “If” it is a setting you really enjoy, that takes the imagination, they are fantastic value per hour of enjoyment. But particularly given the hard times some will think “having the full set....” even though some titles will hardly be touched, is too expensive. But it can only be a good thing that we will from now on have a rapidly increasing choice. If you look at the competition we are lucky to have CM at all.... All the best, Kip.
  22. Hi, Just a quick note that may be repeating what others have posted before me. The best “War movies...” by far are Band of Brothers and The Pacific. They film the action sequences better than the full length movies and the interaction between the individuals seems far more mature and even “realistic...”. A very good example is that Band of Brothers can be described as Saving Private Ryan without the girlie, sentimental bits. I remember when I first watched SPR and came out of the cinema thinking “if only someone could make a war film without the unrealistic sentimental bits...”. Then to my huge relief Band of Brothers turned out to be just that. But each to their own.... All the best, Kip. PS. Das Boot is also great, TV seems to do these things way better than the cinema...
