  1. Battlefront.com is not called Big Time Software anymore. And in addition to asking here, "they" also told you that you can download free demos of both, and make up your own mind, of course www.battlefront.com/demos
  2. Pretty cool. Let's send a radio signal to Kepler 22b! Then we only have to wait 1200 years for the response
  3. To quote user38: Michael Emrys is absolutely correct.
  4. The dropdown menu shows you the regular price, but once you actually click on it, you will see that it costs $45 (plus S&H). The pre-ordered bundle will be made available when the GOLD expansion is released, you cannot download the base game prior to that if you pre-order the bundle. In order to get the base game now, you would have to purchase the base game separately as a download and pre-order just the GOLD expansion (and not the bundle).
  5. The chinese spammer has been dealt with No need to drag it out.
  6. Make sure you add a link to our Weblinks section! http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&Itemid=23
  7. It should be inside your game directory after installation.
  8. I know, the difference is that we are already using vB. BTW, for easier reading, you could always use new RSS feeds or the Archive, instead of viewing the main pages.
  9. PS. There is some kind of vBulletin native app for the iphone. No clue what it does or how it works, but if at all, that would be the only option we'd go for, if at all. It's not anything on the radar anytime soon, though. If you ask me, mobile devices need to adapt to the net, not the other way around.
  10. No need to repost. We're not going to install any kind of plugin.
  11. I really have to add this to the Knowledgebase I guess (or it may even be already an article there, now that I think of it), because this question comes up with every pre-order sale we do, and the answer is always the same: Pre-ordering a download (only) doesn't really make much sense. You won't be able to download it any sooner than it is released anyway. So you may just as well wait and order it once the game is out. The main reason for pre-ordering is to offer a discount to people who do want the physical goods (the pre-order saves you $10 on the "Download&Mail" delivery option, so you can think of it as free shipping), and to help us assess how much we need to print (and to give the fulfillment house an edge on processing, too). Pre-ordering a download doesn't really do anything for anybody Martin
  12. This is a so-called "false positive". It often happens when you allow your anti-virus program to "guess" (the professional term is "heuristic" scanning). In other words, there is no virus, but some code in the executable may be vaguely similar to one, and if your AV is set to act on suspicion, then it will block. You should change your AV settings to not act, but instead only prompt you for confirmation of what to do. Or you can set an exception to leave the file (which is known to not have any viruses) alone entirely. Or you can shut off "heuristic" scanning (it's useful sometimes, but VERY prone to false positives like that with ANY type of encrypted - aka protected - file). Martin
  13. The link is in our Weblinks section: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&catid=166&Itemid=23
  14. Hi guys, this is the first I hear that the patch is corrupt. Just to be clear - the NEW patch is corrupt ALSO? I recall that the previous version (1.04 or whatever it was) became corrupt after some time, but now even the new and most recent one is corrupt, too? Excalibur should be able to fix this quickly. Have any of you contacted them about it? Martin
  15. Casualty rates in % in most sources usually relate to a formation's entire allotment of personnel, including non-combat personnel. In many cases, a typical formation does not have more than 30% combat personnel in total in its ranks (everyone else is supporting the top fighting third - i.e. transport, supply, kitchen, staff etc.). Martin
  16. We don't accept bids, but if you want to buy more than 3 copies, feel free to email sales@battlefront.com or go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and click on "Submit Ticket". We do grant small discounts for orders between 3 and 10 copies (and bigger discounts for orders above 10 copies per order). Martin
  17. We only very rarely do outright sales at Battlefront.com. We did a summer sale a few years ago after launching the digital delivery platform, but that's about it. We do reduce the prices on older games eventually a little, but usually after several years only. We believe that our games are priced fairly for what you get, and that due to the replayability, expandability and scope they are offering, they are not losing value as quickly as mainstream games. You will get as many hours of enjoyment out of Global Conflict now as you would have last year. Martin
  18. Unfortunately, there is no way right now for us to support a platform-independent CM:BN (or any other game, for that matter). The platform specifics regarding downloads, licensing and activation, as well as tech support, mean that effectively, these are two entirely different games that need to be purchased separately. We do, however, offer a *small* discount if you own one and want the other, too. Go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk, click on Submit Ticket, and ask for it. For *future* releases, we're working on a platform independent system already, that would allow you to buy the game and switch between platforms.
  19. If you have a disc and it asks you for the CD to be in drive, then you have purchased before we started digital delivery (or very shortly after). We made new discs that are using the eLicense system and do not require the CD in drive some time after launching digital delivery. So yes, right now when you buy the game (download or mail, doesn't matter, you get the same thing), you do not need the CD in drive in order to play. But if you own a CD that was produced before then, well, then this doesn't automatically change out of the blue Martin
  20. I have no problem alt-tabbing out of the game and back into it in Windows XP (yes, I still use that on my PC). So whatever is wrong seems to be wrong with your particular setup or Windows install.
  21. The announcements can get kinda hidden when you do not look at the actual game forum index page very often (which many people don't, they instead look at "Today's Posts" for example). But another good place to make sure you don't miss news is to visit www.battlefront.com once in a while (you can subscribe to the newsfeed from the entire site here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_rss&feed=RSS2.0&no_html=1 ) (And there are also RSS feeds for individual games in each game's web area)
  22. I just finished watching all the episodes. It's seriously awesome and suspiciously addictive, and VERY well made. Every episode is better then the previous one. I loved the sniper duel (way to go, Butch!) and episodes 10-15 are definitely MUST SEEs! Patrick managed to capture the essence of what Combat Mission is about!
  23. We have just forwarded the 1.05 file to Excalibur, so after a little Q&A they should be able to put it up shortly. I wasn't aware that the file was corrupt until now, but either way, since 1.05 is all-inclusive, you should be able to get a working download soon. Martin
  24. Unlike most other games, Combat Mission is not artificially "balanced" in any way. We use real world data exclusively. This means that the imbalances you will find in the game mirror (or should mirror) the imbalances found in real world conflict(s).
  25. Hi Gerry, yeah, sorry, Gerry, but we cannot update the manual once printed/pressed on disc. We do release Erratas and updates to the manual with patches, and we also update the online manuals. The online CMSF manuals, including the base game manual, as you will notice, are reflecting v1.21 or something like that, for example. We didn't update the CMBN online manual but the 1.01 patch includes an errata to the manual. The reason why Nervous was left out (among a few of the other states between "OK" and "Panic") is because they are pretty self-explanatory, and there are no special game rules applying to them. Unlike the Panic or Routed states, the units still respond to commands, for example. So, "nervous" is really just what it says - the unit is nervous. Stating this in a manual seems somewhat redundant. Having said that, the errata now clarifies and acknowledges that there are states between OK and Panic, and it's definitely better this way, which is why we added it.
