  1. Shipping started on monday and the last pre-orders went out this morning I believe. So it's up to the Deutsche Post and Royal Mail now. Martin
  2. Just the disc. There is no printed manual for the module available. It says so on the order page, too. Martin
  3. We plan to open pre-orders in 1-2 weeks. Martin
  4. Not sure if intended but this is a somewhat odd suggestion, seeing as they are recovering from apparently multiple hacker attacks right now. One of the reasons we do not run a matchmaking server is because it's a resource pit to keep it running, secured and efficient. We prefer making games
  5. They are made to volunteer. But they're far from expendable. Recon troops are sent up front to get shot at but not get shot. Recon troops that get shot are only half as useful because they cannot relay much information once they're dead. The difference lies in the tactics employed. Simply waltzing forward without the use of cover, stealth, pauses for observation etc. will lead to dead recon units, while proper recon tactics will lead to very valuable recon units. Martin
  6. Go here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=search Enter "campaign" in the search field, uncheck "author", and uncheck the games you do NOT want to be included in the search. That should give you pretty good results, since even if the word "Campaign" isn't in the title, it usually will be in the description.
  7. Yup! When I wrote "Take a pair of zoom binos and try for yourself" I meant: "... unless you have an M4 standing around in your backyard ) Martin
  8. black_prince, what you describe could be taken right out of a WW2 (or even modern) field manual. Which is good, because that's exactly how CM:BN should be played. [shameless plug]Oh, and did I mention that we sell contemporary WWII manuals in the Battlefront Bookshelf? [/shameless plug]
  9. slysniper, for new players, playing slow and taking their time is the best course of action to learn how to approach recon and avoid high first contact casualties. Once you are able to do it slow, you can then learn and master how to do it faster (or how to vary your approach depending on sitution etc.) But that's definitely an advanced tactic that I wouldn't recommend to new players.
  10. Not necessarily. The turret has optics used for spotting stuff at a distance, not 30 meters away. CMBN simulates field of view and magnification, and it is entirely possible to miss something 30 m away. Take a pair of zoom binoculars and try it out for yourself
  11. If you think you are taking things slow already, but keep losing men (especially during first contact), then you are still WAY too fast. Here's a piece of advice: do everything as you do it already, but simply have all your units pause every second turn (or every 60 seconds real-time if you are playing RT). You will be surprised how much more battlefield intel you'll get (especially early on before the first contact) when you pause for a moment from time to time. Imagine real soldiers in the real world running around without pause like many of our virtual soldiers are forced to do (simply because we can)! That's not going to work well in real-life, and it puts you at a distinctive disadvantage in the game, too. Martin
  12. Because the tank crew didn't spot the gun? Just because you, the player, can see it, doesn't meant that your tank can. The gun may be in a blind spot (not unlikely, that close to it, if it's buttoned up especially). You, the player, are shown the collective info from all your units with no unit selected, and the specific info from the unit selected (if you have one selected); at least with the higher difficulty settings where relative spotting is in fact in effect.
  13. CMBN is not (yet) available anywhere else, but eventually it will be (maybe sometime near the end of this year).
  14. It could be worse. It could show the lower prices and charge you the higher ones
  15. Feel free to submit the link to our Weblinks Section: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_weblinks&Itemid=23
  16. Mac OS X 10.6 and higher is required for Normandy to work, it won't work on 10.4.11. You'll have to upgrade your OS, sorry. CMBO and pre-CMBN games do not work on OS X at all. They only work on OS 9+ Some people have made them work in Bootcamp I believe. Martin
  17. No, the prices in the dropdown merely show the unadjusted price. Once you select the product, the correct (reduced) price shows up on the product page (and in your shopping cart).
  18. Instead of CDs, I personally would recommend a USB stick. They're inexpensive these days, save a LOT of data and don't take up much room. And you do not need any special burning software, either. The setup files can be copied for backup purposes anywhere you like. In fact, we strongly recommend that people do this if they only got a Digital Download (since we do not offer infinite digital storage).
  19. The v1.10 patch for the base game, CM:BN, will be made available for free in a week or two from now (tops). It will give you the same engine improvements and bug fixes (but obviously not Commonwealth, SS or LW units to play with, and none of the new scenarios and maps).
  20. Set lower graphics options in the game. This may in fact increase your overall visual look. Then bump it up one level at a time to see what works best with your system.
  21. One of the advantages of our digital distribution process is that it isn't tied in any way to downloads or online servers or anything. People sometimes do not realize the advantage of not being tied to some network for your gaming these days anymore Setup files can be downloaded, copied, back'd up and what not as is convenient for you. Once you downloaded the setup file, and activated it, you do not need to go online ever again. As far as we are concerned, you can move to the South Pole after that and keep playing. Or Maine, for that matter . Martin
  22. And if something goes really well with a QB, it's all up to Mark for having done an awesome job on these. So please do not hesitate to also post if nothing is wrong, and you are just blown away by the quality of these QB maps! Really!
  23. Sounds like a permission issue on your system. Is this PC or Mac? Go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and click on Submit Ticket for support.
