  1. $80 is actually only about 55 Euros at today's exchange rate, and that includes download, box, manual, shipping & handling. That's absolutely in line with the average price of new major releases in Europe.
  2. Pre-orders always include "download&mail delivery". If you want "download only" you'll have to wait until we switch off the pre-order deal, and switch on regular sales. Martin PS. It's not $25 for shipping cost. It's $20 for the S&H we charge to Europe ($10 for domestic). The $5 is for the "hardgoods" component in addition to your download (it will actually be $10 after the pre-order deal ends).
  3. I can confirm that the release date will NOT be May 20. What will happen is this (it's how these things always work here at Battlefront): 1) all pre-order customers will receive an email that their downloads are enabled (make sure to whitelist sales@battlefront.com in your email program! If you entered your email incorrectly during the order process, you're screwed ) 2) one of the pre-order customers will ignore the friendly plea to NOT post on the forum that they are already downloading (this happens usually within 2 seconds after the emails go out), and will start a thread here saying something like "OMG OMG OMG I AM DOWNLOAD NOW!!!!" 3) the official release announcement will go up on the front page a couple of hours later, and the pre-order offer will be removed, and replaced with the usual "Download Only", "Mail Only" and "Download&Mail" options. The latter, btw, still include a very few Steelbooks (we may run out today, though). We're almost out (and the only reason we are not out yet is because a stock count revealed that we have received more Steelbooks than we had ordered, for no extra charge. Thank you Scanavo ) Martin
  4. japinard, first of all, you do not need to register an account to buy anything. When you purchase a game, a new account is created for you "on the fly" (without the need for CAPTCHA verification). If you keep having problems with the CAPTCHA even though you are certain that you are entering it correctly, then it could be a browser issue. If you are using IE9, then try setting it to compatibility mode.
  5. From the description on their website, PC Tools Threatfire seems to be using a lot of virtualization in their approach to protect your PC. Whenever you see something like "keyloggers", that usually means virtualization of one way or another. CMBN won't run in a virtualization environment. The whole virtualization approach can be useful, but the main problem is that many of these security programs don't shut it off when you disable the AV part of their protection. So you think that you disabled it and it's still not working, and one of these "additional" features is usually why. It's possible that if you disable that specific feature, you do not have to uninstall PC Tools Threatfire.
  6. "Run as admin" is not required for CMBN (unlike some of our older games). Unless one of you anti-virus or security programs behaves differently when running the game with elevated permissions, there will be no difference in running as admin or not running as admin.
  7. 76mm, make sure your anti-virus or security software is not blocking the game. Make sure your AV or security software is not using virtualization (e.g. Virtual Keyboard from Kaspersky). Make sure you do not run any process explorers that tend to try to inject code (such as Microsoft Process Explorer). Those are the top three things that will prevent the demo from launching.
  8. I can definitely confirm that there will be no release today. It would have been nice, agreed, and we have been shooting for a friday release for some time, but we want to take the extra days over the weekend to digest the demo first, and make sure everything is prepared just right for the release.
  9. We'Ve added this to the Knowledgebase at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk
  10. Did you try to click anyway (even if not cursor is visible). Perhaps the game launches "in the background" and you need to click to bring it up.
  11. IMO, Combat Mission really makes you appreciate and even take better notice some of the things that must have happened 65 years ago in new ways. Such as the tremendous killing power of the Shermans. We hear a lot about how GIs were afraid of the Tiger or the Panther, but I bet that your typical German Landser didn't feel much better about the approaching sound of a Sherman with that .50 cal, bow MG, co-ax and very effective HE...
  12. Do you have some kind of custom mouse cursor package installed?
  13. Yes, specifically, the Battlefront patches only work for the Battlefront version. If you bought from someplace else, then you need to apply a patch specific to that version. elicen40.dll is not found because the SFI version is not using eLicense. I am not even sure if there is a patch for the SFI version, so you will have to contact them for support, sorry.
  14. Incidentally, the Repository section just went online.
  15. Hi Kong, that's very interesting! Our demo IS secured against hackers. Part of this security means that it resists various types of code injections (some anti-virus software does that type of thing), debuggers and similar tools which could be used to crack it. We'll look into it but it is possible that Process Explorer tries to explore a little bit too much of this particular process and therefore the game shuts down. Thanks, that's a nice find! Martin
  16. I still remember when I got a new desktop (a few years ago) with Norton pre-installed. The default settings prevented me to go online on any https secured website because "it could be unsecure"; including Norton's own support website where I wanted to figure out how to remove this piece of garbage which, despite being uninstalled, still kept popping up reminders about purchasing an upgrade.
  17. No, sorry, we do not accept checks or money orders. We only accept two payment methods: Visa/Mastercard or Paypal. You could get a Visa Gift or Prepaid card and use that to purchase online, for example.
  18. Yup, I have a desktop with this OS. No problems whatsoever.
  19. I don't know what "Online Armor" is but it sounds like one of those virtualization packages. Norton and Kasperksy have one of these, too. As per the Readme and min. specs: The game (nor demo) will not work in a virtualized environment. So you will have to shut this off in order to play, or somehow exempt it. Virtualization can be used for many things but too often is used for hacking or circumventing the user license, and hence it is actively not supported.
  20. fugazy, the people in this thread have no problem launching the demo. So whatever issue you have is likely unrelated and from your description, it is impossible what may be causing it.
  21. The full version of the game comes with a print-friendly version (without the background). Martin
  22. All download counts are reset automatically before the release, so no worries. Martin
  23. Who knows. It does seem that the setup is Win7 + x64 + ATI in most cases. Martin
  24. Hi Asmodeus, yes, there appears to be a common problem here with Win7 x64 systems that we are investigating right now. It popped up briefly during testing but was considered solved, and we have to figure out why it cropped back in
  25. The Activation is not doing anything. It's just a window with some HTML code in it that works as a splash screen and exit screen. You need Internet Explorer for it to run, though (that's handling the HTML stuff).
