NefariousKoel
Hey guys, just picked up the game after waffling for a very long time. Goin' good but I'm wondering: Is there a mod that tones down the green selection circles or removes them completely? Or a hotkey option? If there's a mod, what's the name of it? I feel like I'm ordering fireflies around, quite often.
M1A1TC
If you bought the game, it should have come with a manual. A list of all hotkeys is in there
LongLeftFlank
Not a bad idea, but, say, an outline only green circle will be much harder to see inside buildings.
Mord
Washed Out Bases I did these real quick. Just stick in your z folder. If you only want to use green, just remove the red and yellow bmps. Mord.
bodkin
And if you think the balloon icons are too bright you can try my mod that tones down the brightness of the red and blue balloons so it dosen't look so much like a five year olds birthday party. It's at cmmods.com.
NefariousKoel
Thanks guys. Gonna give Mord and Bodkin's mods a shot. Sounds like just what I need.
Spindry69
Mord and Bodkin, your mods are spot on. Much more immersive. Many thanks!

c3k
Okay, stop teasing and post a screenshot! Please. Thanks, Ken
MikeyD
Some people play "eye of God" hovering high over the battlefield and need those bright circles. I don't. I'm usually down in the trenches with the grunts. Your subdued spot is a VERY good idea, something it never even dawned on me to try.
Mord
Okay, stop teasing and post a screenshot! Please. Thanks, Ken It's nothing big...just less bright. Bodkin's probably got a screeny for his over at Cmmods. Mord.
NefariousKoel
I wouldn't mind having even more opacity on those green circles, since I often play down in the dirt too. I'll toss in a screenie of them both, together. Edit: Yikes! CMSF doesn't like my screenies from the clipboard - all black.
hoolaman
Mord, nice mod. Is it possible to do it like a ring instead of a circle? If so, consider this a mod request!
Mord
Thanks. I don't know. The bmp is a solid square of green with a small pie wedge cut into it of lighter green. I think the wedge is what makes the circles blink in game. There doesn't seem to be an invisible color (AKA pink) like in CMX1 so there's no way for me to test it. I tried dark gray, like used in the soldier textures, but that just makes the circles dark gray. Mord.

Other Means
Any chance of making the circles larger? Does that work? Is there a transparent circle for de-selected units? I'd love to make those blue or sumfink.
JohnO
Why would you want them larger and also why Blue?
NefariousKoel
Dark blue wouldn't be a bad idea since it'd be darker than the neon green and likely wouldn't clash with the terrain so much. Larger, however, would be going in the opposite direction I'd prefer. I think I could get by with just a ring around the base as previously mentioned. Those big bright circles under everything really detracts from the immersiveness.
Mord
Actually a toggle bases command would be nice. I play down in the dirt too, but when I want the full experience of the moment, at least for WEGO, I de-select the unit and toggle off the icons so I can re-watch the action without any unrealistic looking stuff getting in the way. It's an alright work around but you can't do that in RT. Mord.
Other Means
Why would you want them larger and also why Blue? I'd like all bases to be shown at once to help me keep track of all troops, but you'd need a way to know which unit was selected. Every colour but blue is taken. Larger to see from further. I play about level 4 and above mainly, so all I really see are loud dots.
NefariousKoel
Toggle would be fine.
