New Age Santa
yep, I need those wacky suckas. Can anyone fill me in on the gamiest units in game and how ou use them to be "gamey" I plan on making a utteraly bizarre scenario melding all the accusations of "gameyness" into one giant..well...you know.. BTW: I am using this forum because the combat mission discussion forum went kaput
mensch
Assault Boats.. definatly Assault Boats* *don't ask.
Pascal DI FOLCO
My good day, I list them all : * SMG squads, make them mow down enemies at short range (run into them if necessary !!) * Puppchen : buy 10 of them for the price of 2 ATGs, make a barbecue with allied tanks ! * 37mmAA Flak : this thing is surprisingly mostly immune to small arms, and eat Stuarts at breakfast  Inf killer too !! * 150mm+ arty - not really "gamey", they just bury the enemy troops !! * AT Pillboxes - in a small QB there's some chance that your opponent won't have heavy AT assets...If the map is open (often !) this thing is like an indestructible immobile Panzer with MUCH ammo * Wasp !!! Again only in armor light scenarios
Leta
Don't forget the skdf 7/1 and 7/2. Almost indestructible vehicles. And the evil 20mm flak gun. Put tons of it.
Ex Bellator
Agreed! Masses of 20mm flak guns!
Wally's World
The Ostwind with its 37mm AA Flak gun. I just finished a scenario in which I had four of them and they just hammered the opposition who had only a few AT guns and one anti-tank team. Quite deadly against non-armored and lightly armored stuff. And like Pascal DI FOLCO said, it eats Stuarts.
Shipmonkey25
I've seen Ostwinds whack Chaffees. I never take Jagdtigers or King Tigers, unless I have enough points to bring an Ostwind along. They are the ultimate anti-tank destroyer weapon, they normally kill a Hellcat in one shot and a M10 or jackson in two.
Pak40
Ultimate Gamey force: 12 kubelwagons and 10 Pumas for suicide recon behind enemy lines. 3 companies of SMG squads for short range firepower 12 Puppchens for AT defense. 12 Hetzers for inexpensive mobile AT defense 10 of the Heaviest Rocket FOs available. 30 elite sharpshooters 12 King Tigers for the ultimate gameyness money can buy. All of these units fall under Hitler's new fighting force dubbed: Kamfgroup Gameybastard
New Age Santa
yes, those are all Axis forces though. I need some Allied gamey forces too...
Sergeant Saunders
My vote goes to the units that have been on the front-lines the longest. After a month or more without baths, they will be very gamey, trust me.
russellmz
hahahah good one, i wanted to do a scenario with the most USELESS units, but ppl only mentioned like 5...
Gen. Sosaboski
Useless? Yes, assault boats. Also: trucks. I find them useless, except if you've got to move big stuff far away and are not under fire. 14 inch FOs. Yeah, they're nice, but unless you design your own scenario, you never get to use them
MrSpkr
Allied units - Wasps. Churchills (overarmored bastards). And most especially, .50 mg jeeps.
kmead
The players using the computers and directing the game moves. For that matter all the parts of the Game are in fact gamey in that they are a part of a greater Game whole. OK, I will go away now, too tired and getting a bit silly... Gen-x87H
Jesus I am seeing alot of units in here considered gamey. It appears this whole thing is a game. Gen
EricM
Well, if you can figure out how to do it just have a bunch of tank crews (no armor) and have them fight it out. I think that has to be the gamest tactic. Eric
Pzman
how about the SuperPershing...gamey plus a 90mm gun, go with it.
dragonwagon
And don't forget the DAIMLER AC. , the one shot kill on the move............yucky!
Redwolf
If we speak "mismodeled" and "mismodeled to be too strong" unit, then probably the SdKfz 7/2 and 7/1. If we speak underpriced, then the .50cal on the M3A1 and M5A1 halftracks with unlimited ammo. If we say overly effective for the price and at the same time a great unit for fast-paced surpises or experienced players, then probably M8 HMC or Wasp. If we speak "makes too much of a difference in a game", the Pueppchen. [ 09-29-2001: Message edited by: redwolf ]
Cyrus Logan
considering 185 challegners were put into production and were spread out, i would say the insanely effective Challenger is underpriced, hail the rarity factor cmbb will put in make that damn thing the price of a king tiger. Stoffel
there are no gamey units in this game. only problem is there are people who try to find gamey ways to use these units instead of using them for the purpose they were made for.
Pascal DI FOLCO
quote:
Originally posted by Stoffel: there are no gamey units in this game. only problem is there are people who try to find gamey ways to use these units instead of using them for the purpose they were made for.

This is the case of Recon jeeps, but is not the case with SMGs, Puppchen, SdKfz 7/x or Hetzers... As already said they either are "too powerful" relative to their historical counterparts and/or underpriced when played in QB ... Lastly "rarity factor" is the last missing factor, allowing for hordes of Puppchen, JagdPanthers, etc.. So there are gamay units and gamey players
Stoffel
Pascal, the answer to the units you named is simple, battle parameters! choose june 44 and voila!
