  1. Save all the scenarios from CMBO, now can I just load the scenarios into my new computer's scenario file? I was wondering if downloaded scenarios added BMP or WAV files to the original files and without those the scenarios I saved won't play right. Eric
  2. OK, decided to load the disc version of my game on my new computer. It is running windows 7. Had saved the original 1.12 patch on a file I transferred to my new computer. Tried installing the patch but the opening screen of the game shows 1.02 version. Opened the program file for the game and I see all the files, then the 1.12 patch shows as an application and the CMBO file application. Do I need to move/copy the patch into the CMBO application? I don't remember it being this hard when I originally did it. Any help would be appreciated. Eric
  3. Well I have the disc version of the game. Bought it when the game first came out. Wondering if the original patches are still around or would it just be easier to buy the game as a download. Eric
  4. Will CMBO work with Windows 7? Just got a new computer and don't have room to keep my old unit that ran Windows XP. Would like to still play the game. Thanks, Eric
  5. Philippe, Thanks for the info. Found Scenario Depot 2 but apparently Proving Grounds closed it's site in 2004. I might have the wrong site, do you have the web address? Thanks, Eric
  6. After a long bout of play different first person shooter games thought I would get back into some strategy games. Started playing CMBO again and enjoying it. Went to some of my old sites to download some more scenarios and found most have disappeared. So are they any sites with scenarios for CMBO anymore? My favorite was Scenario Depot but I guess it's no more. Thanks, Eric
  7. OK I finally had time to download the demo. Tried it for a few times to see what it's like. Is there a post that explains the different symbols on your main screen, like the different areas around the tanks, what the green mike thingy means and so forth. I did not get CMBB (have no interest in the Eastern front) and have only been playing CMBO. Does the game come with a manual or tutorial? Eric
  8. I know that there are a couple of battles based on movies for CMBO (Saving Private Ryan and a Kelly's Heroes Campaign), but I was wondering if someone was planning to design a CMAK battle based on the old Humphrey Bogart movie "Sahara"? Might be interesting. Eric
  9. Finally got around to playing some CMBO on my new computer. Problem is that the movement graphics are choppy. My computer is a HP Pentium 4 2.40 GHz with a GeForce4 Mx 440 with AGP8X (driver 4.3.0.3) with a Creative SB Audigy sound card. Any idea what I need to do for smoother graphics? Wouldn't be too bad but can't see when someone shoots at my troops (but I hear them) unless I pay close attention during the replay. Eric
  10. Haven't downloaded the game yet and was wondering, are the troubles mentioned in the troubleshooting section of the demo page just problems with the demo? Would hate to get hooked on the demo version and still find the same problems with the full version. Eric
  11. Looked around on the site but couldn't find recommended requirements for the game. Maybe I just missed them, but could someone tell me. Thanks, Eric
  12. I use the ctrl-c when I start a game to make sure I know where all my units are. Sometimes during a game to make sure I am moving all of the units as well. As far as zoom, only use it in replay to see a tank kill sometimes. Eric
  13. I transfer a bunch of scenarios from my old computer to new and had a problem with a couple of them. When I unzipped 2 of them and moved them into the scenario file I got a message if I wanted to move (or was it add) a text only file. Any ideas what that might mean?. Also one of them was a scenario called Rhine on the Run. When I went to play it everything was fine during set up but when I started the scenario there was no sound. I tried the hot key for sound but no change. Any ideas? It looked like a real fun game but not real fun without sound. Thanks, Eric
  14. Just got a new computer and tried installing CMBO. I have run into some issues and need advice. The computer is an HP Pavilion A210Y series with a 2.4GHz Pentium4, 512MB DDR RAM. It has a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 video card and a Sound Blaster Audigy Card. The problems I am having are: 1- I have downloaded the 1.12 patch twice but the version on the start screen says 1.02. After I download the patch a screen comes up showing where it's to go. I press finish, it does it's thing but no update. What am I doing wrong. 2- Each time I have started up to check the patch the Direct 3X box (I think that's what it says) asks what resolution I want. Once I pick one, things seem OK. But when I start again it runs thru the same process. 3- With the higher resolutions do I need the faster MGz settings? I pick the lower ones and the movements seem choppy. If I pick the higher ones, the game takes a while to respond to and selected buttons. Thanks, Eric
  15. Final stages of getting new computer. Choices of video cards with computer are Geforce4 MX, Geforce FX5200 or ATI all in wonder cards. Which works best with CMBO and will allow fog? Also will be playing Battlefield 42 and MOHAA. Thanks, Eric
  16. Tweety, You're right. The problem is once the new computer comes in there is no where to put the old one. It would be nice to have a list so I could check the scenario depot and see which ones are still available for download. Eric
  17. Iknow it has been asked before but can not find a match when I tried searching. Need a list of battles and operations that came with orginal game. I am getting a new computer (hopefully in a month) and rather than downloading all the ones I already got (and some may not be available) I want to copy the battles I have and transfer it when I get my computer. Thanks. Eric
  18. Just started reading "An Army at Dawn" by Rick Atkinson. In the Prologue he explains about the US military plans to invade Europe in late '42 to early '43. This made me think that with CMAK coming out you could do some interesting "what ifs?" scenarios, with the US invasion taking place in '42. Might make for some interesting battles. Eric
  19. Icon Bob, Was anything resolved? Was thinking of getting rid of present computer and gettin a new one. But is XP causes problems with running CMBO then maybe I will have to find somewhere for my old one. Eric
  20. I remember when DML's kit of the Maus came out there was some discussion about wether it was used in the defense of Berlin (or was it the E-100). Eric
  21. With our old (5 years) computer hard drive almost full and some other issues my wife is talking about us getting a new computer. Tried a search but could not find a quick answer. What video card and sound card would be a good mid-range ($) to get for the best performance from CMBO (not interested in CMBB)? Not being very computer literate, I am looking for something that will allow playing right out of the box. Thanks, Eric PS If we do get one, I am also planning to get Battlefield '42, so that is a consideration. Thanks
  22. Not being a German armor fan I can not be 100% but I believe most German turrets were manually turn. Most US tank turrets were hydraulic (maybe electric) so therefore easier to turn. Eric
  23. If I remember right there was a discussion at another DG about that scene in BOB. Someone had talked with Sherman crews and found that it was common for the commander to exit the turret to use the 50. I don't know if BOB accurately portrayed that battle. As for the use of the Ma Duce I saw an interview with a tanker and he said that most crews in the older model of Sherman got rid of the 50's cause they were concern about the gun jamming the hatch if they had to exit quickly. My 2 cents. Eric
  24. If possible why not '39-43 Europe and Western Desert. You could have all those neat early tanks that just did not work out (Matilda 1 comes to mind). It probably would not be too hard to have both european terrain and desert terrain designed into the game. While Itally would be interesting there really wasn't very much armor battles (IMHO) to make it an interesting game. Eric
