John Kettler
Wow! Dust effects, multiturreted vehicles, M-16 GMC (hooray!), Bersaglieri, British desert camouflage, Ansaldo Canone da 90mm (bare steel on interior of breech block)?, palm trees, gritty desert terrain, rocks, taller eminences, etc.. I can hear blood gurgling from the veins of the modders as I type (eroded tactical markings on worn paint jobs)! The German infantry looks great, but the mortar needs help in the worst way, being too small to be an 81mm Stummel and simply wrong for a Gw 36. If possible, please give us the 3-D models so that we can reskin if needed. Antennas with pennants? Overall, the progress over CMBB graphics is breathtaking. Now, how about a Flak 18 (in sangar) firing on Matildas at Halfaya Pass? Regards, John Kettler
The Graeme
I understand the requirements will be similar to CMBB. With the latter, on my puny computer, I can only play small scenarios. I assume the dust cloud effect will use a lot of computer power, but that it can be toned down or even eliminated much like terrain effect or smoke effect? Am unlikely to be in the position to upgrade my computer in the forseeable future, but desperately want to be able to play at least small scale CMAK. So hot key control of the dust effect might well be the key to playing the game (for me, at least). Will it be adjustable?

Strontium Dog
CMAK is looking great but with all that dust I can see that a goggle mod is going to be needed for those tank crews
Madmatt
Dust and Smoke use the same technology in the game to be displayed so you can turn the effects off all together or revert to FAST and COMPATIBLE mode for it. In that mode the dust becomes these big brown blobs (like the smoke which is a white blob) and is less intensive for older systems and video cards. Smoke and Dust display is controled via the Shift-I hotkey. Madmatt
benpark
Beautiful shots. Those palm trees are amazing. The Italians in the pith helmets are so good it's freaking me out. Oooh boy...can't wait.
Fly Pusher
Nice pictures, I look forward to the game coming out. My only plea would be for a demo more accessible to beginners and people new to the CM genre. I also have a question (appologies if this has already been answered elsewhere). But will it be possible to engage two independent targets using the two cannon on the Grant M3 tank ?Will it also be possible to engage one target with both to increase the effective rate of fire ? Thanks...
Bogdan
Excellent work !! Congratulation to all the BFC's staff ! I cannot wait until the release of CMAK... Color me stupid (Hey ! I have learned another UK/US expression ! ) but would it be possible to recreate north european battlefields and DEFINITLY delete our CMBO from hardrive ? In fact, I wonder if you will dare to add a "bocage" tile (Say yes, say yes, say yes !!) Again, BRAVISSIMO

kump
Not being a fan of the Africa front, I ignored the announcement of CMAK. Boring. Now that I've seen the screen shots and read a bit on the game, I must have been on drugs. I hate it when I have to admit my stupidity and end up wanting something this badly again. Terrain looks outstanding. The colors are right on, even the grass The new doo-dads are really impressive. Those new Sherman models are the "to die for" kind. I'm looking forward to putting my advance order in. I'm very impressed that the "old" CM engine can go another round and put out such impressive visuals. Excellent job. Only CMx2 could possibly top this.
Wol
And now all we need is a retro patch for cmbb! Judging by the screen shots, the war in the desert probably began in late 1943 and was fought between the Americans and the Germans...Must be something to do with the audience

tooz
Looks great, got my credit card out and waiting... As always, we want more! Any chance on showing us demos on the OTHER combatants that will(?) make their appearance in CMAK? For example: Colonial(Italian),Indian, Free French, Ghoumier, Anzac, et al. Has BFC anounced a decision on the Greeks? Yes? NO? Consider this as one last plea for the inclusions of the Greeks.

Elmar Bijlsma
Those Crusaders you saw, are they in image 40? They look like A13s to me. They seem to have a higher turret then the Crusader, though it's hard to be sure from the image what they are. We could do with a better image. (wink wink, nudge nudge) I disagree about the ID, but you're right about it being hard to decide from the image. My reasoning is that if this is intended to be a historical picture, you would not likely see Stuarts and A13s at the same time and place. Stuarts didn't appear in battle until Operation Crusader (or thereabouts) and the A13s had been pretty much (if not completely) phased out by then. But in the desert anything is possible. BTW, in my above post I forgot to mention the Churchills. Michael
rune
Going to argue that one with you Michael. I have all sorts of OOBs from Sidi Rezegh, where the Crusader and Crusiers, along with Stuarts, were all being used at the same time. Sources include Nafziger [sidi Rezegh OOB and Volumes on the Armoured Divisions], and The Battle of Sidi Rezeg 1941 by Agar-Hamilton, and more. Now, can you guess why I have all this research, including maps done? Michael Emrys
P.S. I still think the tanks in the screenshot referred to are Crusaders. Michael
MeatEtr
So........... will the ole sand in the ass crack be simulated in CRAK(err i mean CMAK)? Perhaps like vehicles that bog down.
Nalun Ruhtra
Visually speaking, your game has come a long way since Beyond Overlord. I am glad. I am not so much into tactics as I am looking at those replays of each turn over and over from many angles, so this will be a real treat for me if Combat Mission: Afrika Korps still has the replay thing (I wish all games included a recorder). I have not played Barbarosa to Berlin yet, so pardon the query if it is unnecessary, but what I am wondering is what the soldier death animations look like these days. Are those improved on as well, or will the soldiers still just sort of lay down and take a nap no matter what hits them? It would really be nice to see some guys being knocked off their feet by mg fire or thrown through the air when an explosion gets them. Will somone let me know what to expect (of course, I will be buying the game regardless). Nicely done, by the way.

The decision was taken by BTS waaaay back in the early development days of CM to play down the gore aspects amid much wrangling among the posters to the board. It was strongly felt that what BTS was trying to do was to present a game that focussed on tactics and moved away from the pornography of violence as was often exemplified in FPS games. Sounds like what you are looking for might be slightly different though. I can't say what BFC's response to it might be. I suppose that we will all have to wait a couple of years for the engine rewrite to find out. Michael
