CMAK scenarios you want.

Recommended Posts

So what are the scenarios you would want to see in CMAK? Aside from the more obvious ones I would like to see the following make it.

The fighting for Hunt's Gap in Tunesia, it's scale and balance are just right for CM.

The fighting for Fort Capuzzo, not just because I would like to see the Beau Geste type fort. smile.gif

And one unlikely to make it with the release and I'm amazed no-one has mentioned it yet: Dieppe. How great would that be? It's so overlooked because it doesn't fit in with other campaigns/battles but I would so dig hitting the beaches with the Canadians.

I want an SAS 'Rat Patrol' scenario!

Not the American jeeps with mgs in the old TV show, the real deal - Brits in 4x4 trucks attacking far behind enemy lines. This would involve small unit actions far from armor and artillery. No doubt Crack Brits vs isolated conscript/green second eshilon troops. The scenario designer gives them an objective and you've got to see if you can pull it off.

One tricky part, how to gets the Brits to behave professionally when being controlled by the AI.

I like that movie. The Brits and Australian used captured Italian Trucks to get behind enemy lines.

Isn't that what God says to deciduous trees as winter is coming on?

:D:D

Anyway, along with the obvious ones (Tobruk, El Alamein, Monte Casino, etc.) I'm looking forward to battles connected to the breeching of the Mareth Line, the Kasserine Pass attacks and counter-attacks, and some of Patton's manuevers in Tunis and Sicily. It will be interesting to watch the green American troops acquiring experience. Some of the battles around Anzio are quite interesting, too, including some good Ranger fights.

The Italian war will give us a lot of room to practice attacks against dug in positions. Maybe we'll also see more use of airpower--the Allies should have some cool options.

Great idea.

My one hope: the battle of Assoro, if it is at all possible.

How about some raids on supply columns, first the Italians vs the Africans, then the British vs the Italians then the Germans vs the British then the Americans vs the Germans.

What a lot of traversing over the same desert!

What a chance to see the improvements in tank and gun technology!

I could see Crete and a hypothetical airborne/seaborne invasion of Malta being very interesting. As would the various fights in the Greek islands, Leros etc.

The fights in the mountains of Italy should be interesting after the slashing armoured battles in the desert.

REALLY looking forward to more Italian equipment and types of troops.

Have started to gather info for Italian scenarios and perhaps the planned but never executed German attack on Gibraltar.

And let's not forget Italy. Tiger I tanks versus 75mm gun Shermans in hilly terrain. I'm recalling the incident at Massa Lombarda just before the war ended, as told a couple years ago in the magazine AFV News. A New Zealand Sherman getting up to within 50 feet(!) of a Tiger I, emptying its entire ammo ready-rack into it and winning the duel.

There is a Dieppe Raid scenario for CMBB complete with Churchills - see the Scenario Depot and look up COMMANDO RAID RUSSIAN STYLE (IIRC)

As for CMAK, would love to see an Ortona op.

Termoli and Commachio, so we get RM Commandos with proper green hats.

The Fuka Jeep Raid, so we get jeeps with Vickers Ks.

George Ward Gunn's VC fight at Sidi Rezegh, so we get portees.

Eric Wilson's VC fight at Observation Hill, Somalia, so we get the Somaliland Camel Corps.

All the best,

John.

Lt. Col Waters/Blade Force north of Eddekhilo. IIRC it's the first American vs. German tank battle. It was given a treatment in Talonsoft's West Front (IMHO one of the best scenarios I ever played in that game... very fluid, great replay value, interesting mix of equipment on both sides). There's several paragraphs on it in Atkinson's "Army at Dawn".
