Remember the Beta AAR ? The sniper had something like a 30 casualties score. -

Vierville, indeed. -
Squads refusing to exit buildings
Thin Red Line replied to Thin Red Line's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
After ten turns of unsuccessful attempts (i tried all move orders, from slow to assault, and used multiple way points in all directions) i finally managed to get them out of the building : i ordered a nearby kubelwagen to get close to the house and gave the squad an embark order. And, miracle, it worked ! If this can help other players... -
Squads refusing to exit buildings

Yes that's quite annoying. In one scenario it is my IG ammo bearer which is stuck in the building... and the gun itself has only 3 HE shells. -
Squads refusing to exit buildings
Thin Red Line posted a topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
In two different scenarios i'm currently playing i'm facing the same problem : i order a squad (or HQ) to exit a building but they don't. They are not under fire and i don't understand why they don't follow the order (i tried fast, quick slow without success). Anyone had the same problem ? -
Reuqirements on spotters for arty
Thin Red Line replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
From one of my PBEM i can thell that if he receives too much enemy fire and gets pinned down before the barrage start to fall, the mission will be cancelled. -
I think that HT rushes on tiny maps dont match any Hitoric realitiy.

Your three best and three worst things
Thin Red Line replied to TheVulture's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
The very good The mix of incredible detail (1/1 représentation, buddy aid, ammo count up to the single round) and large scale aspect of battles. This is very unique in wargame. 1 email per turn in PBEM ! It means more battles, more fun A small thing but which i really like: mention of the unit (eg : 2/175th Inf.). Add a lot of historical flavor, much better than the generic unit name of CMx1 The room for improvement :(In the scenario editor, no possibility to turn roads than 0/45/90° directions , same goes for buildings. It makes it difficult sometimes to recreate actual french villages. But bocage is a real improvement. :(No partisans (resistance) ! Hopefully they will come with a module. Playing the game I feel like i have to learn things again from scratch after 10 years of Combat Mission... -

ye olde "In Command" lines...
Thin Red Line replied to Bartokomus's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I understand but personnaly i prefer the new vizualisation, where you directly read in the interface the complete command tree for each unit. -
ye olde "In Command" lines...
Thin Red Line replied to Bartokomus's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I like the "new" system . Much more sophisticated and far better than the lines i think. -
Sorry to ask if this has been covered berfore, but in CMSF there was a mod manager. Is it working for CMBN ? Otherwise, is there already on Mod manager for the Normandy game ?

Railroad Bridges problem
Thin Red Line replied to Thin Red Line's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Thanks for the replies. While waiting for an (unlikely) fix i have placed a pavement tile between the last railroad tile and the bridge. O course rails look slightly interrupted but at least you get rid of the "bump" visual effect, for a better overall result IMO. -
Norman highways: how many lanes?
Thin Red Line replied to LarsS's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Smaller roads, typically beetween villages, are called "routes departementales" ; their name starts with a "D" ; for instance : D8. Some of them probably were asphalt roads. In 1932 100,000km of Nationales and Departementales were already asphalted in France. So i would say a mix of paved and asphalted roads. http://www.lcpc.fr/francais/sources-d-information/hist_routes/article/lcpc-sources-d-informations-391 -
Is it possible to get a railroad and a railroad bridge lined up exactly on the same horizontal level ? It seems that whatever it try i get a little bump at both ends of the bridge. I'm under the impression that the railroad tile isn't really flat, hence the problem. Any tips ?

Quick Battle Limitations

I think you need to remove the Battalion HQ staff before you can delete the Battalion commander himself. -
I vote for no caps in threads titles.

I posted about the 60mm mortar behaviour, but i want to express my gratitude and tell that the game is really great and very atmospheric. I really like the "Busting the bocage" scenario. Well done BFC !

US 60mm mortars effectiveness
Thin Red Line replied to Thin Red Line's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It is odd indeed, especially when under fire from non HE weapon (MGs for example) they fall back as they should.
