kohlenklau
If you are interested in lending a hand in creating a CMRT Romanian Mod, please chime in here or PM me. I can approach it similar to how I breathed life into the CMRT Hungarian Mod. Even if garlic breath! It all starts with our old buddy CMBB! (I have read interesting stories here in the forums somewhere or from interviews in gaming magazines? My view is that Battlefront and CMBB were like a virgin bride who gave away all her holes on her wedding night! They learned their lesson and changed their business model and so we now have F&R module SEVEN YEARS after CMRT was released.) Lucky for us that CMBB has so much to utilize. Thank you gentlemen! Brainstorming Tasks: Can someone please get us the Romanian voice files from CMBB? Can someone please get the Romanian soldiers names file from CMBB? I think we should/can get the French Adrian helmet from CMFI R2V. Maybe JM can blender mod us an M39 helmet? Uniform recolorings and tweakings Weapons swaps Vehicle mods Intro music? Splash screens? UI Mods @Juju Are you interested? ?
kohlenklau
In my opinion, this CMRT Romanian Mod would be seen as in the Stalingrad timeframe...or Fall Blau

kohlenklau
I have the usual books (OPSREY SERIES) for trying to see what the mod should look like. Although the photos are usually all black and white and then some artist does the paintings which are subject to debate if 100% accurate on the colors or how dark for example. But the power of the internet can harness some re-enactor types or museums or uniform collections! BOTTOMLINE: WE DO OUR BEST! ...and maybe in the final product, we have multiple images 01, 02, 03, etc. we TRY to have a little variety in shading or tones to reflect different lot numbers or fading from laundering and sun exposure.
JM Stuff
The form of the helmet is really special from the Rumania army for my part I dont find really the good one on the net, or the others ones are paying, and of course I dont want to buy one ! So this is a model that I found similar, but I have to cut the head inside the helmet without the helmet hitself, cos this was a full soldier, like showing in yellow, but I dont know if I can import it later, this is the big question perhaps import it in >>> obj but not in >>>mdr ??? ...so far from me untill now if somebodys want to take part and have a better solution than let us know ! Falaise
@3j2m7 JM did you try to take the british mk3 helmet. By reversing its direction of pose on the head and by deforming it a little I think there should be a way to make a convincing Dutch-Romanian helmet. kohlenklau
That is great JM. My goal: I am getting the CMBB voice files, rank badges, flag and soldier's names. EDIT: CMBB 7000 series are the Romanians. (3k Germans, 4k Finns, 5k Hungary, 6k Italy, 8k is Soviets, 9k is Polish.) I have also found the below translation chart for the files so I can rename my 7k series wave files to MOSTLY match CMRT file naming. It is for the Italians but it doesn't matter. http://webandofbrothers.de/Italian_Translation.htm Edited March 1, 2021 by kohlenklau

BornGinger
How do you make the uniforms for this mod? Is someone using a graphics tablet to make them from scratch in Gimp or Photoshop or any other program good enough for it or do you modify a Soviet or German uniform in any of those picture editing programs? I can imagine that it could be quite difficult to do this by using the mouse. Edited March 2, 2021 by BornGinger

If I may, this picture is only to show for the time "approximately" the helmets wearing from the Romanian troops this one is a in beta phase, the the rest are original German uniforms, but soon we will have a "similar" Romanian uniform weapons and distinctions... For my part no graphic tablet but a usual mouse with a usual Gimp and sometimes a usual Paint net but with convictions and determinations to have something correct to share to an attentive community ... benpark
That helmet has far too many triangles/faces- it will slow the game down. Take a look at the UK helmet to compare the amount to target.

benpark
Just now, 3j2m7 said: Thanks @benpark I will this is why I said approximately...beta...and similar...do you think when I change it in quads will be better..if not you have to explain me more...? Thanks in advance JM It will be great, just keep the amount around the existing helmet. You could import the existing one, then adapt it around this one, then delete the high-poly one. That should make life relatively easier.

I can imagine that it could be quite difficult to do this by using the mouse. The modding I do is not so awesome. I rezexplode the brz files and find the bmp image of the target uniform. Then I use the tools to TRY and make it look like I want. Sometimes I actually paste things in and trim and tweak. I put a shoulder strap/belt over the German greatcoat to try to make Soviet greatcoats. I took the Soviet summer uniform and put lines on it to make the quilted winter uniforms. If you ever want to dip your feet in the water...GO FOR IT! Try a simple mod of a US Army divisional shoulder patch on an existing uniform. Add a modtag [ginger] and make your scenario use that same modtag. Good luck EDIT: Another suitable first mod (simple and easy) for is to add a symbol or symbols on a vehicle. Like if you write a scenario for personal use and want the vehicle coming down the road to show the proper panzer division. It is a real hoot to see it finally show up! Maybe the first time it is mirror backwards or upside down! But you learn from mistakes. It is addictive so be careful Edited March 2, 2021 by kohlenklau
BornGinger
Alrightie, then and thank you. I've been thinking about trying this out to see if I would be able to make a Finnish uniform for Red Thunder when I buy it. But as I read that the engine No. 5 might come out in Autumn this year, I'll wait til then so I buy the game already updated.

Hey Ginger, Actually, I have a CMRT Finn Mini Mod that was packed with a Finn Campaign by DragonWynn. There is a forum thread about it. Once F&R comes out, I plan to return to that Mod and see what more winterizing I can or need to do. Another modder took the ball from me and had done some more mods including some amount of winter mods in it, but his PC has a tech issue and he has to go get the hard drive to hopefully pass me his stuff. Someone can correct me if I am wrong but the engine changes do NOT impact the mods and files. Engine changes are other things like features added to our dashboard as the player or tweaks to the program code like how a soldier behaves. Bottomline is that you are welcome and encouraged and invited to pick an option: try your OWN Finn Mod or leapfrog from what I and a few others have done or some mixture. I am not the ultimate modding guru but feel free to PM me if I can help you in any way. I am happy to see you flourish! EDIT: I see now that you do not YET own CMRT. So your plan to wait could be a good plan IF THEY DO UPGRADE IT AT THAT TIME. I hope you don't wait longer... But if I buy Red Thunder today, I'll have to pay for the upgrade later on to upgrade from engine 4 to engine 5. If I'm correct that is how it has worked with other engine upgrades. So instead of paying twice I can wait and buy Red Thunder when it is sold already upgraded to engine 5. Quote So your plan to wait could be a good plan IF THEY DO UPGRADE IT AT THAT TIME. I just have to wait and see. I'm sure there will be more updates about engine 5 later in the year. Erwin
As an oldtimer here I envy you newer players as you guys get the 99% complete game, whereas us early adopters who have been playing versions of CM since 1999 have had to play through the 89%, the 93%, the 95% complete versions etc. I have gone through so many patches, upgrades and versions that am reeling with all the info one has to first forget and then learn anew. I tend to agree with BornGinger that I may well wait. Personally, I might even wait for CM3...

I have been thinking about getting Red Thunder for quite a long time but have enough of quick battles and scenarios in Final Blitzkrieg to play so waiting a bit longer won't make a lot of difference. As the scenarios I have made and uploaded, are battles which occured in Estonia, and as such on the Eastern Front, I should maybe convert them to be played in Red Thunder later on when I have bought that game.
