MikeyD
Trying to see over the crest of the hill? Just a guess, you might be at that awkward spot where there's a big difference in LOS between standing and kneeling. You see this (without foxholes) when troops are on the back side of a hill crest. They will stand to peer over.
RockinHarry
like MikeyD said. Could well have to do with last given (or self applied) face command. LOS/LOF obviously is given priority to "cover" in most cases in the game. Some my animation mod content deals with that and reverses that situation quite a bit (cover before LOS/LOF).

That's cool. I had not noticed that before. But, you are saying that the system is actually trying to get better LOS... and standing actually gives the pixeltruppen better LOS? It is not just eye candy.
MikeyD
You see this in-game. A soldier on one knee sees a target, goes prone to fire and loses the target, back up on one knee sees the target again.
Erwin
Seen em on one knee but never noticed em standing. Since one can fire when standing or kneeling, is it a bug that the soldier needs to lie down to shoot and then loses LOS so pops up again ad nauseam?
BFCElvis
I'm played countless hours of CM and have never seen that. Is this something that you're able to reproduce? If so, what steps would I need to take to duplicate it? Do you have any mods installed?
Glubokii Boy
Yeah...If the soldier actually opens fire the second time he takes a kneeling possition it is a quite nice feature but if he goes prone ones again...to shoot...and fail... Not quite as much... Edited March 16, 2020 by RepsolCBR

weapon2010
scenario is rittersprung, does it with and without mods, only does it with the foxholes on the downslope, when the foxholes are brought up to level ground they kneel as normal , no standing

Erwin
Which CM2 game is "Rittersprung" from?
com-intern
I do know that in the vanilla game if you place a trench within a ditch the men will stand in the trench to fire out of the ditch. So again this may be due to the hill? I've used the ditch trick when making scenarios as it gives the men much more protection than a standard trench. Since they get the saving throw of the trench placeable but also get much more cover as the ditch hides most of their body. Glubokii Boy
The 'ditch trenches' looks good and works well imo... The only downside is that they to some degree ruins FOW... Edited March 17, 2020 by RepsolCBR

weapon2010
so the men acted as normal in the foxholes when you started up the Rittersprung scenario i sent you?
BFCElvis
I didn't even play the battle. I opened it, found the guys standing up, moved other units into a couple of empty foxholes, saw some of them standing, took a screenshot and made a saved game (so they'd be easy to find and see) and closed the game. Never played a single turn.
