WhiteWolf65
I just read a post from the archives dating back to the infancy of Combat Mission. In a nutshell, the poster said he hid a lone German tank-hunter in a woods-line along a road and had completely forgotten about him. A column of Russian infantry strolled by his hidden position and didn't notice him. Then a Russian tank came rolling up and he destroyed it with his AT grenade (probably a Hafthohlladung). Now as I have been printing out all of these data sheets for all the World War II titles (I might have to look again at the Red Thunder TO&E), I haven't seen these listed. If they are not part of the TO&Es, I would highly recommend them being re-instated to the game. Another unit that might be cool to introduce into the Western Front battles of Combat Mission are the special German Tank Hunter teams running around in captured Bren carriers. With their speed, ability to hide almost anywhere and carrying those lethal loads of PzFaust 60 to 100 and the Panzerschrecks, that would make for some interesting cat & mouse games. Hey, I know that these were not used in great abundance by the Germans but having them would just be fun and isn't that what we are trying to accomplish here? To have fun? Till next time. **Chris** Edited June 24, 2019 by WhiteWolf65
Mord
Nothing happened to them. They are right there in the list of "specialist teams" . Mord.

Mord
10-4 brother. One difference is the grenade bundle is missing, which I would very much like to see return! Breach explosives are fine and all, but nothing is quite as intimate and sexy as a bunch of strapped together potato mashers chucked onto an engine deck! Abstractions be damned bring back the potato bundle lovin'! Mord.

Mord
Ha! Thanks. I had to hack that sh*t with a weed wacker. Last week I looked like a hedge hog gone mental. Strategic chopping and a few hair ties got the majority of the mess under control. It's amazing what your face can do when you let it run rampant for six months! Also not to forget split off AT teams from normal infantry squads.

Back in CM1 they showed the bundle. Splitting is always wise but there are actual dedicated Tank Hunter teams you can purchase too. WhiteWolf must've missed them. Mord. Mord
From sand flea to mental hedge hog, I am moving up in the world! Or you're going all soft and sentimental on me. Just remember, the bunker perimeter is mined, you come a serenading and you are gonna lose a leg. Then again I do need crayfish bait. I'll leave the sheet music on the razor wire. Mord. ah yes... now that you say, it was CMX1. Seems BFC needs another animation creator guy (or gal) then. although I´d find it sufficient to reuse one the existing animations and add the bundle instead of single grenades. Or maybe BFC thinks it wasn´t "common" anymore late war? It was common from WW1 til the very end of WW2, I can assure. Even found (metal detector) one complete on former Ruhrkessel battle area, although off course the single wooden stick was completely rotten away. No fuzes in there as well.

I've seen some hairy situations on Youtube, guys digging up old grenades and such. Anyway, yes, bring back the bundles, they look cool! Absolutely... took my dog for a walk on the beach a few years back. Threw a ball for him back towards the cliffs. Strangely, he didn't bring it back, but sat down and waited for me to go to him. When I got there I was astounded to see him sitting in between some old rockets and bombs!... Got him away from them and ran back to the camp site and got the manager to ring the bomb squad, who subsequently came out. Apparently it was a common occurrence as the area at the top of the cliffs I had been walking the dog along, was an old RAF bombing range during WWII, and after a storm, parts of the cliff face would collapse and old ordinance would end up on the beach...
Ultradave
When we lived in England, occasionally (twice I can think of not too far from where we lived) someone found unexploded WW2 sea mines on the beach (well, they WOULD be unexploded right, because an exploded mine,.... ). People did the right thing. Didn't go near it, called the local constables who immediately called the Royal Engineers. Common enough that everyone knows what to do. This was on the northwest coast on the Irish Sea.

Anyway, yes, bring back the bundles, they look cool! Mord. just today (or yesterday?) We have a nearby town of Giessen partly evacuated for some nice 2x 500lb 1x 50kg and 1 500lb bomb finds. That´ll happen all over europe for couple decades to come for sure. https://www.hessenschau.de/panorama/250-kilo-bombe-in-giessen-erfolgreich-gesprengt,bombenfund-giessen-102.html Also not too far from where I live. Long term chemical fuze bomb exploded in a field. That wasn´t a silent night for the locals. https://www.hessenschau.de/tv-sendung/bombenkrater-in-limburg,video-95122.html Regarding old ordinance, yes it´s quite a dangerous affair and I do metal detecting now for over 2 decades. Cautiousness is always advised and it´s good to know what finds can possibly expected. In germany it´s sufficient to just walk into the very next forest and dig up something WW2 easily. Particularly at last month of the war maybe several 100k of german troopers abandoned their gear right into the next ditch or woods when on the retreat or about to surrender to advancing allies (may they come from east or west) . In case or when in doubt a responsible-minded metal detectorist has always the phone number of local EOD at the ready. Mord
When I was a young and wild Halftrack Gunner (something you wouldn't understand) kickin' it for the Fatherland in France, Poland and Russia, I would've gladly smacked some mortar shells around to show'em who was the Bossenhaffen. But I am older now, more refined, I stick to leg wrestlin' gators, knife fighting tiger sharks, and having my scrotorial hair removed with a chainsaw and pliers. You know, more mature pursuits. http://community.battlefront.com/profile/39872-mord/?tab=field_core_pfield_20 Mord.
