  1. Great advice, which I've learned the hard way. Wish you'd told me this before . Currently doing this in Normandy - hiding in foxholes initially, followed by moving right next to bocage ready for the fight (I also have to credit @WimO for advice on this). The hide function is interesting for vehicles too, turning off noisy engines it seems.
  2. 2v2 is a mystery to me, but I know you have a liking for the MMP experience. Okay, well 4MP .
  3. Now that's wierd. I swear when I typed the last message the header text was black, now it's white. Anyhoo, I agree with your comment.
  4. I think if you like the 'bigger' scale of running the whole East Front (or large sections of it if you prefer), this might be for you. Also if you don't care about the old counter boardgame presentation (no criticism from me here, not sure what else you could do on that scale). As I didn't get far I assume logistics is a big factor and I love logistics, but not in 109 minutes of game play . For me the discovery very shortly afterwards of CM (years later than I now would have liked) meant that my purchase of War in the East was not money well-spent. But CM is I think more my preferred scale.
  5. Huh? Looks the same to me? Or is that blue header slightly darker, hmmm .
  6. @BFCElvis is the man to ask. Although he is busy elsewhere I'm sure he'll be along soon.
  7. Got some examples of that? I can't find any like that in a quick search (but it was quick ). EDIT: As an afterthought I'll copy @Bootie in, as he will know the answer and the reason if so. Sorry Bootie .
  8. Erm, some time later.... did you get hooked up with an opponent? Hope so. Sounds like you were thinking of Quick Battle PBEM?
  9. No worries, I probably would too. Have chosen Intel procesors for a while and Nvidia graphics. No real issues and good performance, including the Asus ROG laptop sat in front of me now. It has been great over the last couple of years.
  10. There is that. I used to play a lot of much smaller scale Talonsoft stuff (East Front etc.) but even that sometimes had 3 hour turns. Think I should re-visit WITE though. As for Sniper Elite, it's a 'little' unrealistic but great fun at times and makes a nice change every now and then. Give me a shout if you fancy a PBEM when the FB add-on comes out (or even something before).
  11. Think I'm missing something as it is my kind of thing, but... I bought it on Steam round about December 2019. I have 109 minutes played . A big reason for sure is that I started playing CM a few months later and now I do little else (with odd excursions into Sniper Elite 3 and 4 - recently completed - and now 5 is out, waiting for a sale).
  12. Yeah that's a good shout. Is there any difference to that percentage depending on who you put on the deck? You said scouts - I imagine they're the best (except perhaps for FOs but I don't think you'd want them on there) compared to other types of unit? At La Fiere in CMBN as you say, I don't have that as an option but I think they wouldn't last long anyway given the small arms fire coming in.
  13. This is a bit variable, sometimes it works well - I'm currently two-thirds of the way across La Fiere Causeway and my panzers (such as they are) have all buttoned. If I was one of the tank commanders I might have ordered reverse by now. Worse is to come .
  14. No, always black and white, even in the dark years. Different times are upon us now.
  15. I was perhaps the only one in the City Hall at that gig with hair down my back. Not a hint of anyone being bothered, which was great. The same could not be said out on the streets most of the time...
  16. Ah okay I get ya. I did slightly misunderstand, must try to read things more carefully .
  17. @Artkin I may have misunderstood your Stalingrad map work, but I thought you were adding multiple maps together? Okay maybe that's not two maps loaded at the same time, but it looked like it acheived the 'combine them into a larger one' part?
  18. No arguments from me on any of that . In particular the ability to import CM2 content to CM3 if/when it comes along is massively important. I've played a few CM1 battles in CM2 so hopefully this would be something borne in mind when developing CM3.
  19. Not sure the recent posts have much to do with the original thread? Perhaps a mis-post, but a totally new conversation about hunting seems to have been added. At the very least, I'd move that to General Discussion.
  20. @Artkin my friend, I get most of what you're saying but a telling point is that we're still playing CM (you for a lot longer than me admittedly). I did exclusively single player to start, but it's more PBEM at the moment, which has quite surprised me - I think because I was expecting the 'noob slap-down' behaviour I got in WOT and other games like Day of Defeat, but everyone (including you) has been lovely and it's a great way to learn. Could things be improved, yes of course, but I'll be playing CM for a long time with or without improvements. Also for me the current mechanics of PBEM are okay, and there are enough players here on the forum to keep me going for a long time. To me it seems you can ask a casual 'do you fancy a PBEM?' and most times the answer is yes. My disclaimer to this is that I have no idea how PBEM++ works, my bad. And as for games bought on Steam but not played, that is huge - I think I remember reading that at least a third were not even loaded up?
  21. Love it George, looks great. I might have missed you mentioning asking Douglas, that's also great.
  22. As @BFCElvis said above, CMBN is due next for Steam. And that will include PBEM+ as far as I know. So that just leaves the question of when, which I don't know. As I have CMBN already and play PBEMs with it already, it's not a big issue for me, but I hope for a release sometime soon.
  23. You have not missed anything. It was 1000 'pages' on the uber-thread, not 1000 'posts'. We're a long way past that even on pages. Things are still on the way (soon, I hope).
