  1. Yes, it should be the Germans were already experimenting with it during WW 2
  2. @Lethaface MG Bridge No 7 is such a scenario in Battle for Normandy. You can determine where the fire comes from. By listening inside the building. Which is fair, patrolling at times. Stop, Look, Listen and Smell. We can't smell on the PC, but we can do anything else. Still the C2 must be in place before the supporting units can participate. The Dutch did this with the train hijacking. Their listening devices could hear inside the train, it became a textbook example for recon. Two F104 Starfighters going through the sound barrier masked their activities.
  3. On Camera Position 9 you can select in the usual way. It is realistic you have a 2D map. Area fire once a contact icon has been generated it needs to be shared prior to that you can waste ammunition wherever you like. Modern war fare the troops have a PDA the C2 is in place then Camera Position 4 becomes available if the spotting unit has the birds eye view. Takes a while before you get used to it but for me it is more fun.
  4. Yes, also I 'unlock' my camera settings according the Key Terrain my units occupy. In this scenario it doesn't matter as we have poor visibility. A soldier out of contact camera position 1 only. Camera 2 AFV's open turret. Camera 3 upper floors of buildings Camera 4 is the Birds Eye view 9Key Terrain and when the FO has called for aircover. Camera 5-9 are maps for troops who have binoculars. It makes playing the AI more challenging and realistic. Especially Camera 4 blows the FOW even on Iron. Yes the C2 must be connected before Camera 9 can be used. Little of topic but we play it like this.
  5. That is after Christmas 1944 if I remember correctly.
  6. Reagan said “My fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” Unfortunately, it backfired.
  7. It was more a Cold War Era equipment, now they have thermal sights.
  8. @Vacilllator It would be a tremendous help if you plot A to B and you have2 or more waypoints. You can always drag them in place for a more precise adjustment. As it is a Vector adjustment in doesn't take more memory out of your system. We were addressing two issues. Terrain was in the event of calling artillery, we should assume a little knowledge where artillery is more effective. Wet terrain needs the proximity fuse so that the shells explode in the air instead of in the mud.
  9. Shells which fall in swamps, or in water. You could use common sense when calling for a mission. @Vacilllator what you think of move orders in which you can specify the number of waypoints. If you are familiar with Photoshop our function is like the pen-tool. The move tools could have a magnetic function in which they generate a waypoint according the terrain. By moving your move tool over a buildup area, it would generate a way point at the corners.
  10. Finally, we can play Battle of the Bulge according to Hollywood. M47 Pattons vs M24 Chaffee Tanks. A movie which came out at the height of the 'Cold War' and after consultation with military experts I can recall.
  11. @Armorgunner It is excellent, spotting enemy armor is rather difficult there. You must be able to read their registration number.
  12. I gather that much I never touched the huge battles much; besides, I have my little custom rules in regards FOW, but this is a foggy environment any way. Against the AI after4 or 5 turns my judgment becomes sloppy.
  13. How many turns on PBEM a day? If it is one turn each in one day, it can take 2 months. I figured that out too each company responsible for its own area.
  14. Yes, the Scenario Approach is designed to respond AI triggers which makes it playable. Otherwise, you can approach the orchard with no resistance whatsoever. Playing the AI just follow the historical approach. Thank you.
  15. That is Fritz my late Rottweiler, he deserved the Iron Cross.
  16. Has anyone played this 'Scenario'? The Operation orders are a little unclear. To make it playable I have the feeling we must follow the script. Especially the pincher movement.
  17. Abandon means leave and disable the equipment. The enemy can't capture and use the weapon, and neither can friendly forces. Crew of AFV's when they bail out of an AFV only they can remount the vehicle nobody else can. You need to test these things the manual doesn't explain everything. We can configure most tactical moves by order stacking. I like to enter buildings through windows and breach walls by driving an AFV through it. All these things are possible in RL, engineers can't lay mines, we don't have claymores. Maybe one day happy gaming. Things for you to examine. The dismount order, bail out, and abandon. Look at the tutorial's scenarios, and training roadblock scenario in CMBN.
  18. Could be the intention of the designer. Things like that happen in RL too, like getting a flat tire on the road.
  19. 8*8 is even too small for a fire team of 4. Yes 81 mm mortar shells don't even break roof tiles in the game. Soldiers can't enter houses through windows and the list goes on. Just go through the editor of which I know zilch it sums it up I can't make a better game.
  20. Somebody tested this and Helicopters only spot AFV's and other vehicles. You need to engage before they spot any other ground units. I adopted my game play accordingly.
  21. Naturally it is based on trust, you get done if you play with these rules against a seasoned PBEM player. Playing against the AI has become more challenging. Using camera 9 depends on contact with the C2. Experiment and you get more out of the game. See all my comments as my Beta experiments.
  22. FOW with a camera setting 4 is unrealistic to say the least. I play on Iron mostly against AI and Hotseat once a week. We have some rules. Camera settings according the unit. If you want camera 4 for the FO when his air support arrives and only when you select the FO. Ground units Camera Positions 1-2. HQ, or units with binoculars add Camera 5-6. I assume these units have a map. Company HQ and above Camera position 9 the other settings depend on location. Takes a while to get used to but it is a little more realistic.
  23. Yep wonder how many people will watch this.
