  1. These maps that you linked are unbelievable. I can't believe you've been hording these. Can you specify what you mean by this?
  2. A remote triggered explosion makes more sense than something like a DM-22 mine. I would be interested to know as well
  3. The most precise artillery strike I have ever seen. Two targets hit on the move. https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/vo5wzs/accurate_ukrainian_artillery_targets_two_claimed/
  4. There was absolutely no spotting/hearing contact for this, hence my upload. I wonder if its less CM phenomema and maybe something to do with the 8 second calculation timer that exists ingame. Either way wtf
  5. "deploying maneuver and fire subunits over large areas " This insists the force to map ratio will be smaller, rather than larger. Larger maps, smaller forces.
  6. I know, I feel like I've been around for a long time and not much has changed
  7. The author is arguing against that. They are saying combat will be more shoot and scoot with ad-hoc formations in a high mobility environment.
  8. My challenger 2 decided to rotate and then was killed. It was tracking something it had no audio contact on. What gives? I've seen this happen too often.
  9. You might be happy to know that the CMCW maps port over very nicely to CMBS.
  10. I believe the files are much less when compressed. Stalingrad mod is like 3gb.
  11. If you think that isnt big then try telling that to file hosters. I cant think of one place to upload 16gb all at once. (Besides a dedicated CM mod site like Bootie's... and then maybe) Either way I'd like to get my hands on the pack. Looks great.
  12. I wouldn't doubt that he could upload them separately. Storage is so cheap nowadays, theres really no reason to not provide your customers with a ton of space
  13. I would try loading the larger maps instead of playing scenarios to do benchmarks personally. And for cpu I usually just try the same scenario of a few thousand troops sitting on top of each other before/after overclocking
  14. If someone was new to the CM series this would be up their alley. It would hit a more mainstream audience better I think. Someone who is in the know will appreciate all the retexturing. The scenarios may be small but just think what it would look like if they were applied to larger maps. @NPye I'd love to get my hands on this modpack, if we can figure out a way to send anything nowadays. Maybe we can set up a ftp server.
  15. That was just an odd scenario. If it was triple the size and clear visibility then things would have played out very differently!
  16. Kind of like a scripted scenario to be used as a demonstrator? Sure I'll lend my time. Tell me how to die, sir. Jokes aside PM sent.
  17. The textures are friggen fantastic, down to the destroyed concrete floor tile you have created. I wonder how long your game takes to start with 15gb of mods? That was a big reason I cut down on them
  18. But CMBN has a ton of larger scenarios too. I agree CMBN is the best buy in terms of content. It has an insane amount of scenarios and maps of various sizes. The game even comes with quite a few master maps. I think FI had 2 masters and only a few larger maps. I always like having lots of room (Not useless farmland) to operate. I like being able to manuever and surround my defenders as the attacker. Walking forward into defenses is lame.
  19. CMFI is good if you like small scale infantry actions. The terrain is very diverse and the maps are some of the best; If you like this sort of content. Personally I view every CM title as an expansion for the rest of my games. I port the maps between games. So I play CMCW maps in CMBS for instance. I like the maps but they are just not big enough. The game also doesn't run as fast as the others, but give it a break, it was the 3rd CMx2 title. The expansion nations seem bare. But they probably didn't issue a ton of equipment. In my opinion not much was new. It was a lot of small unit action scenarios that made the game and it's expansions worth it. Also the Monte Cassino maps. As you said @Monty's Mighty Moustache, it is a very flexible title and I have used it to play North Africa more times than I have Italy. :)
  20. Try downloading everything available for CMBN or CMSF (Especially). Have fun spending all day clicking the download button, even before you get to unzipping and relocating all those files. You might even want to organize them. As Grey_Fox said, you can use scenarios in place of quick battle maps by just moving them (In the editor load the file and then save it) to the "Quick Battle Maps" folder. you want to use the editor because its faster, and you will duplicate the map files (By saving) so you can use them in both modes. I always assign groups to my troops in QB maps. I don't think AI groups (2-16) work in quick battles without doing that. You can study the AI plans for the maps you move over, and then set groups that make the most sense to that AI plan OR you can just replace the units in the scenario with ones you want and then adjust the groups again so your new troops are in the AI groups. If you aren't familiar with the editor this will be gibberish. If you knew this already then my bad CMCW came with 3 ai plans per side per map. Other titles packed in more AI plans. I recall specifically CMFI and CMFB having the most elaborate plans, but I'm not 100%. I remember seeing at the most 16 ai slots filled, but usually around 4-8.
  21. Drones will probably do most if not all of the recon in a near peer fight. All the spy satellites would probably be smashed early on.
