  1. There are a lot of jobs in the RuAF that need positions filled right now, particuarly in the West. I don't see how a military recovers from a miserable situation like this. New formations would have to be created with fresh officers at this point. Feels very 1941 to me.
  2. Wow, that was one big ass missile and one little boat. It's about time we've seen this. Harpoons should have been on the table early on.
  3. Thank you for the explanation. I read a little about Serdyukov's reforms and also how they were being reverted. What really confused me was that both Ukraine and Russia utilize the Separate brigades. Now I understand. Also, when I first saw a Russian corps on a battle map near Kherson I was a little confused. I didn't realize Russia had any. I remember seeing that they were either marine or coastal defense as you said.
  4. Is anybody here able to elaborate on the purpose of "Separate" organizations? Were these created specifically for defense? Maybe to guard a smaller region?
  5. I didnt realize Minsk was such a clown show until this thread. Big bad Belarus with its Corps strength army of T-72B and BMP-2. Yeah good luck with that Lukashenko. They will be quickly defeated unless the Russians are preparing for another strategic shift of troops back to the North (I assume by train). To move a Russian division (2 divisions per corps) to a destination: "Moving a tank or motor rifle division would necessitate the utilization of around 1,950 to 2,600 railcars, 23 which is at least three times more than what was scheduled for Zapad. Given that a typical train echelon has 57 cars, just one division would require as many as 34 to 50 trains. 24" This is going to be too slow for a surprise attack. Considering the Russians are probably low on PGM's, it's total suicide attacking Ukraine from the North IMO. UKR will outpace the Russians at redeployment every time.
  6. Our ship got hit by a stuka naval bomber... But their ship is pretty much wiped out too.
  7. at the distance of 8000m this might end up as the victor @chuckdyke....
  8. It just makes me wonder, because I would assume a ship in the sea would be the most capable against drones. I'd expect the most powerful radars, thermal imagers. But I wouldn't be surprised if Russian warships (Like Moskva) didn't have an EW package to counter drones.
  9. Lol so now Ukraine uses Bayraktar over the sea? I assume this is out of range for any ground based EW. I also assume the RF ships don't have as much of a or any drone-based EW suite.
  10. Last I saw the North was sparsely defended by the 92nd and 93rd mechanized brigades from NW to N of Kharkiv
  11. Might be the 93rd Mechanized Brigade by Kharkiv. They field Russian T-80BVMs.
  12. The point about atgms is perfectly fine. My issue with the MRAP is that it's a specialized tool that has a particular purpose. It's best strength is being able to transport troops through areas that are mined with less of chance of injury. I assume they would operate also well in a heavy shrapnel environment. Word on the street is that the MRAP has a small interior... so for the Ukraine conflict, it makes sense to use these for logistical runs if you don't mind spending a ton of diesel and time in the process. In the case of MRLS launched mines: these mraps might be an excellent solution to navigating these areas. They even seem better designed to handle asphalt than off-roading given their high center of gravity. For front line use, absolutely not. These huge hunks of steel would be spotted quickly and engaged with ease. I wouldn't want to be inside of one that's taking rounds larger than 7.62. The MRAPs seem like a lot of wasted material. In my opinion it was a total waste to invest in them beyond our activities in Afghanistan. We have such a massive fleet of them now. They're best sold off asap, the public doesn't need another "War on terror" where these vehicles might find their true purpose again. In a conventional war featuring the US, I would expect our back lines to be clear of obstructions, or at least tended to ASAP - negating the need for MRAP like Ukraine currently does. In addition, our currently fleet of logistic vehicles appear to already be up-armored and up-gunned; Lessons learned from Afghanistan I assume.
  13. Honestly I just bumped up to a gtx 3060ti and im having the best fps ive ever had in my life on this game. Bugs, sure. Performance - that's on you.
  14. Yes I have, thank you. I actually specifically used both of these references to draft up a 20th CAA Master back in February. I was originally able to find this doc, but not the other. I kind of forgot about it, not sure if I completed it. The two documents really go well together; the RAND is from 2020. I've used The Russian Way of War for anything concerning tactics, but that is kind of dated (2016 iirc). I used it to make a MRB first echelon defense on the Orsha 1 map. I will take a look at the zapad section and try to implement it... I want to go back and re-do Radzymin for 2022, and a Russian assault would be the flavor of choice. It would be nice to have every district now considering theyve all been pulled west. AFAIK the Eastern armies have been taking the brunt of it. Thanks for this!
  15. OK I've been searching the forums for a bit now. I'm looking for a specific PDF on the Modern Russian forces (2018-2021ish). It had a section (Or it might have been the whole thing) where it listed a russian division, brigade or regiment, and then it listed how many tanks and apc/ifv the unit had. This pdf made it really easy to reference what unit had T-80Us for tanks for instance. Or which units were given the 600 BMP-3 that Russia had in 2021. Edit. Found it. 16. I think maybe something like T-90AM with the modernized ERA on the turret could probably stop it somewhat. Without ERA I dont think so. Who knows about Western MBTs, and how much better they could be after ERA slapped on them too. M1A2 TUSK 2 in CMBS weighs 63 tons. I think Leopard 2A6 might be a touch over that, and Challenger 2 is definitely over that. So it wouldn't be too outlandish to assume their turret armor might be a bit better or equal on the front, and could stand a chance too. I know for a fact the Western MBTs dont penetrate each other very quickly in CMSF2. I don't understand what the "stick" part of this is. As far as I know this is my limited understanding of how apfsds works: and nothing really stood out to me when looking at blueprints. Maybe the stick is on the bottom of the rod, above where the reusable primer would be? The KF51 is supposed to be somewhat light at 59 tons despite the new gun. I wonder if they are aiming for a new approach, similar to CV90 which was designed with high operational/tactical mobility in mind.
  17. I thought the latest German rounds were supposed to be pretty good, especially for tungsten. I think I was looking at the Steel Beasts forum, so obviously information taken for what it is. I believe they had rated the DM63(?) fired from the 120mm L/55 better than the contemporary american round. I assume M892A3.
  18. Wow thats one long rod. It's going to be really difficult to stop something moving that quick. I cant see any reason why we would ever need a caliber larger than 130mm if that's the size of it.
  19. Is this a T-80U with the BVM side armor package?
  20. I can't really seem to find a definitive answer on what electro optics are but this is from BAE's website: "The CV90 is also equipped with Elbit Systems’ Iron Fist Active Protection System solution and an integrated, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ SPIKE-LR long-range anti-tank guided missile. Other significant improvements include the latest generation of sensors, Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality software to increase the CV90s multi-domain capabilities on the battlefield." That's good to hear. I never heard of Iron Fist, but it's no surprise this sort of system isn't going to be impossible to replicate. Similar to Iron Fist, I know little to nothing about SPIKE. A lightweight, hard hitting ATGM can't hurt the IFV. The 35mm gun in Dutch service is already pretty big - though of course not as big as the cv9040's gun I wonder how that will affect it's ammo loadout. I saw a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUyZIqH2XQE) where they were comparing the CV to the new Puma, and the size difference is substantial. There is also a clip @ 3:14 showing that the CV can easily fit in tunnels. I have no doubt it will fit with the new D series turret. CV90 seems like a Bradley that was squished into a platform that's wider and lower - akin to a BMP 1/2; but with modern sensors. I really do feel like that's the way to go. It's proven to take multiple armaments in various configurations too. I love it so much. I only wish it was in a newer, sleeker title like CMBS. In other news, Rhinemetall released a new MBT today, the KF51. It appears to be a leopard 2A7 turret on the leopard 3 hull.
  21. It appears 93rd Mechanized Brigade uses captured T-80BVMs in the fight. I'm surprised they kept the kit and it wasn't set back to be redistributed. I guess the 93rd would know how to use it better than most though..
  22. Too true. I feel like a tool to solve this would be simple in design.
  23. I would argue mraps are only useful until your opponent gains access to guided man portable AT weapons similar to Javelin and Nlaw.
  24. I spent a week with a cv9030 driver from Norway. It honestly seems like one of the most capable ifvs
  25. They just slapped a couple kg lead to each
