  1. just wondering if it is possible if BF admins can create another announcement/sticky thread where work like this can be put into. It would be a shame to see it drop out of sight as more posts are put up and I think they would be missing out on a great opportunity of advertisement for the game. I know there may well be legality issues but it is a thought. Same can be said for some of the truly outstanding AAR's that are done here, I know there is a search function but it's not that great and to have all the real quality work in one place for each game would be a win win for everyone. (just a random thought that popped into my head while I'm waiting for the clock to hit 5 at work).
  2. Superbowl, isn't that the game the yanks try to call football. Such sacrilege.
  3. I must admit i have thoroughly enjoyed following along with this debate, for one i have learned alot. I have no intention to join the overall debate because there are numerous members here who have been debating the issue who are massively more qualified than me. However i would like to point out one little tid bit. THIS. In a shooting war, even one that is 'contained', if there ever has been one, veiled threats in regard to nuclear deterrents are not VEILED. That would be akin to opening pandoras box. The limited objective of the Ukraine, may to Putin be worth the loss of the Black Sea fleet and his main submarine force but to start tossing around the word nuclear arms would be a massive military and political miss-step, one that would probably cost him his head and I get the feeling that it wouldn't be the west doing the cutting.
  4. no no no, we must see the British, I mean it's not as if I haven't asked them very nicely on numerous occasions for this, I even said pretty please. Haha.
  5. I have found that playing CMBS is helping me become better at the WW2 titles. I actually bought CMBS as my first title in this game series after watching a few YouTube videos. When I saw it being played out I thought yes, this is the game I've been looking for, no more stupid tank/heli rushes, here's looking at you red dragon. Although I do love that game for.its simple joy and explosions. I do love explosions. However I bought it, loaded it up and HATED it. Yes absolutely hated it. I got hammered from the get go by unseen Russian forces from every direction, so I thought bugger I've bought a donkey and I left it alone for months. Then I came across this forum and TFGM, did a bit of reading and obviously found out that you could play the game in WEGO. Well that changed everything and it all fell into place, you could take the time to scrutinise, place your men, plan your moves without it being just click, click. Now I LOVE it, being able.to integrate all your weapon systems into a big set piece battle of epic proportions is just beautiful. It is by far the best depiction of modern warfare in a computer game. I also like the fact that infantry when used properly are no longer just meatshields. There's a big T90 blocking a route thinking he's all bad ass, get your 2 man jav team into a nice position and bye bye tankers. I've been going through all the scenarios and haven't even got the Russian ones yet. The game presses my buttons.
  6. but please, pretty please, add the british and ill buy that for 2 dollars.
  7. As my advance rumbles on with my American troops coming more to the fore a russian defensive position stands in my way. "Hey Ivan you hear that" "Nope" Poor Ivan and the rest of his squad dont even get to hear the distant whine of the F-16's engines going full throttle as it evacs on Winchester.
  8. it us the bear and the eagle campaign mission 3 rolling thunder. Massive apologies, especially to Dragonwyn, this is actually his campaign scenario which can be downloaded in the mod section. It's actually been a while since I played Black Sea and have only just loaded this bad boy up over the last week to finish it. Awesome campaign up to now but you will need a good rig to play it as some of the maps are big. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am and a massive thanks to Dragonwyn for creating it.
  9. (in a very poor Polish accent) Phew, that was some fight, time for a reorg lads and some tea i think. Oh f***ing dear Mass casualties from what looks like a thousand pounder from a russian CAS. Bugger. Bollocks to this lads thats enough for me today, time to hot foot it back to the rear and tell them ive sprained my ankle. Unfortunately that was a pretty much intact platoon, (the one from the pics in previous post above with the russian body in the foreground) that had just done a very good assault on the fixed russian emplacements. Damn shame. Anyway, forwards pixel truppen do not mourn your brothers because your sure to follow them with this crazy cigar chomping idiot in command.
  10. it the 3rd mission in the US stock campaign. Can't remover the name of the actual mission off the top of my head though.
  11. Just because this took me by surprise So I order my troop forward to get a bit of overwatch going ready for the next bound and bloody hell theres a dug in APC and my tanks cant depress far enough down to kill it fortunately he shifted his position a bit and the tank on the left blew it apart and just to make REALLY sure the tank on the right shot it as well and a couple of very shell shocked russians throw up their hands in surrender
  12. The Poles and Ukranians overrun the left and center positions with minimal losses. One russian lives to tell the tale
  13. Just a few screenies from my Rolling Thunder campaign showing my heavy base of fire and infantry assault. Attacking the Russians first MLR. My Base of fire, overwatching my advancing infantry in the distance. and to the left my Heavy Support base of fire The pixel fodder pepper pot forward
  14. An argument.like this can go round and y round til everyone's head is spinning. The simple truth is that the BF devs/owners created CM many years ago and they have progressively improved, added and released more standalone games and.modules. Now I would imagine that was a lot of hard work. So with a game series that is still evolving, improving and has many battlefield still yet unexplored why would they hand over the keys to modders, FOR.FREE. I could understand if the game was abandonware and the original owners were just digging their heals in and saying no, like Eugene games with Red Dragon, there's a game that seriously needs modded. This game series is very much alive and well and 8n my opinion in very capable hands. You have to bear in mind that this isn't just a game sees to the devs here, yes it pays bills and stuff but it's also a passion. You don't see many games forums where the devs come in and answer within a day or two or even a few hours. Now do you understand why they won't open the game up to modders. To them it's not just a game with dollars.signs attached "cough" 'Rome 2'. (I never said that).
  15. now if he would jusjust release FB he would have happy happy existing customers lol. Shudup and take my money.
  16. But if he had taken the BEAST out everyone would have hailed it as a master stroke. Oh so easy for fate to lend a hand. Oh and a sneaky panther hiding and just waiting to eat American armour.
  17. yep found it, the battle of cologne. https://youtu.be/NBI9d0-IfEM Panther kills sherman then pershing takes out the panther, awesome footage.
  18. Isn't there a video somewhere of a pershing taking out a Panther?
  19. I would say that with 2 of those beasts on the field that it means he has no other substantial armour, but with those 2 sturmtigers it might be irrelevant. What a nasty surprise. Awesome work can't wait for the next installment.
  20. Unfortunately I could never find a version of this with English subtitles.
  21. Have to say when I played the myth of invincibility scenario 3 ofy panthers died to lower glacis hits on pretty flat terrain.
  22. As far as I can tell from JonS''s post there will be ONE large barea that cam be used for modding, not the whole battle pack. As for Kiemes post I wholeheartedly agree with the dangers of payed for 'mods'. Bit this is where the complications arise.
  23. $10, hmmmmm, that = £6.76 pounds sterling. 1 packet of cigarettes in the Uk costs £7.65. Cant see a problem with the price tag. Memebers of this community who are now going to get payed to do maps/campaigns with the support of BF, well that means frequency of releases will go up and more pixel-truppen deaths for me. The modders for want of a better word have increased their own workloads and coupled that to timescales and all the pressures that brings so why shouldnt they get a monetary reward for that, we do live mostly in capitalist nations. However this doesnt mean that people should relax on their laurels and not protect 'mods' in their own right. As mentioned above when Steam tried to receive financial gain from modders work for themselves, that is when it is bang out of order and steam got a good slap from its own customers for that. Always a fine line between what is/should be free modding and when a third party is being a bit naughty. Just my 2 cents.
