  1. Starting a new QB with Budbacker on FB and one of my biggest problems when buying troops is not being able to preview my troop selection on the map. I like seeing my units laid out before me, it gives me a better appreciation of their make up and strengths and weaknesses, rather than trying to visualise it in my head. If you can already do this then i apologise and SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME HOW. LOL. So my wish is for Troop Preview screen on map for QB and also being able to have saved OB's. Just thought i would slip that one in their.
  2. Im hoping i might fair better on my left flanking movement. I have taken out the Priests on the high ground and the ones lower in the valley. Its the AT guns that have me worried, Im going to take a few minutes to see if i can pin point more positions while my inf. are getting into position then it will be go,go. Im also going to offer up my Ktigers as targets for his ATs just to keep him busy. So if the timing works and everyone jumps off at the right times i reckon ive got a 60-40 chance of making it into the town intact. Then ive got try and knife fight my way through the town. All or nothing now. Ill let you know how i get on, theres a high chance it may be screenies of lots of burning Hanomags lol.
  3. Yes i get the distinct feeling that im meant to fail here also. My KTigers dont have a scratch yet but ive been very conservative with them mainly because as you said they can take a beating but their sub-systems cant. I have a plan but whether it will work or not is another matter. I have my FO and Pioneer platoon over on the hill to the left where i killed the Priests from so im hoping i can suppress his AT with mortar fire and distract them with my Ktigers, then rush those pioneers down into the town where there is that curve in the road, plus send my main inf force forward on to the next obj. Not sure if i will have enough assets to suppress properly but its the only way i can see to break into the town quickly enough. War is hell and the poor bloody inf are going to catch it again.
  4. The mission lifeline is one tough SOB. I have 37 mins left on the clock, I've taken out 6 Priests but I've only managed to take the first objective. My force is largEly intact but trying to screen away from that hilltop position just eats in to the time. A yoke else having kittens over this one.
  5. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this was intentional, ie using greenhorns to do the assault landings on the beaches. This was because veterans are good at keeping themselves alive because they new better, as in not taking big risks, going to ground, using cover etc. However this is not what was needed for that type of assault hence the use of green divisions. This choice cost more lives but it got the job done. The hard choices of being a commander. That being said even the green horns had gone through pretty extensive basic training and lessons learned in battle are hard and unforgiving but they are learned fast.
  6. Just about to start Lifeline and it does look like a tall order.
  7. I lost a x1 panther killed, x3 panthers with various states of damage, x1 Pz lV killed and a few hanomags blown to bits. I have 1 full company of fallshirmjagers intact, the rest of my infantry Companies are in tatters. Poor bloody infantry. Reading about the campaign and the horrible terrain is one thing but playing it on combat mission really gives you a feel of how horrendous it must have been. It seems your not only fighting the yanks but the terrain as well.
  8. Staumont is a bitch. I just got a total victory but at the cost of 100 dead and 98 wounded.
  9. Moving like that is SOP. When your in the vicinity of fast moving metal objects, ie bullets etc, never, ever, ever, ever, ever skyline yourself. That's how you die quick. I know it's been said before but CM's infantry movement is quite strict and linear in some ways, ie not moving tactically. That clip above for example to do that in game it would have to be a 'quick' or 'move' order up to the hedgerow then a 'slow' command ie snail b***dy pace back in to quick or move. Now in the video that little obstacle slowed those lads down not a jot and yet they were still moving tactically. I have no idea how much work would be involved in making infantry movement more dynamic or even if it would fit BF's criteria of effort over reward but it is irksome at times not seeing infantry doing basic tactical movement over and around obstacles.
  10. Exactly this. This is butt hurt. My most recent one. Battle of Staumont about an hour in, my far right flank are trying to break in to the building's but my poor fallshirmjagers are having a torrid time. So my tactical reserve, the 13th company get their orders, fast move over to the right, increase my volume of fire, panthers, hmg''s the works, and run right upto the buildings. Works like a dream, my troops debuss and lo and behold a pesky 60mm mortar man drops a round right in the middle of a squad. Multiple casualties. There was gnashing of teeth and I can honestly say a girly whimper escaped my lips. But that's one of the reasons why I love these games. You can execute a manoeuvre perfectly and a random act from a lonely pixel trupp can mess up your whole day.
  11. I would say that in game it's probably the recovery rate that is wrong, they take ages to recover when in reality you will recover in a minute or 2. However I would say this is done for balancing reasons otherwise you could just crawl every where.
  12. Speaking from experience, with a full combat load out, belt buckle crawling and leoperad crawling are ball busters plain and simple. Being uber fit does help but only for a little while. After crawling a relatively short distance you WILL be trying to suck air into your tortured lungs from every orifice you possess and more than likely swearing profusely at who or whatever is forcing you to endure this torture.
  13. Looking well forward to trying this when I get home. Kudos to everyone involved and all the hard work put in by everyone.
  14. Watched a YouTube video of Black Sea about 10 months ago and have never looked back, even to the detriment of most of my other games. I now have BS, BN AND RT probably the best money I've spent on games since TW Rome.
  15. Re. Hollywood, one of the best I've seen and I literally couldn't believe what I was seeing was in the film red tails when one ofor the Tuskagee airman dives on a German destroyer and shoots the hell out of it with his 6 .50 cal, not once but twice and flies away without a scratch and leaving the destroyer a burning pile of junk. Never laughed so hard. Hollywood I salute you.
  16. You lucky baaaaarstards. Another 19 days to go out in the middle of the north Sea on a lump of steel.
  17. CM:FB demo released, check. Me heading to see the folks in newcastle for the weekend, check. CM:FB full release in the next week or so, check. Me heading off to the rigs for three weeks on Tuesday,CHECK. ME NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY ANY FB UNTIL THE END OF APRIL, CHECK. Arrgggggghhhhhhhhh. . Real Life's timing sucks.
  18. Demo soon full game in a couple of weeks, excellent timing cause it's millionaires weekend on Friday.
  19. Your doing it wrong. Turn based play 'tick' lots of button presses 'tick' comfy seat 'maybe' glass of whiskey over ice 'sounds like not' (if your under 18 discount that last one) seriously though, battles do take hours to complete and I think part of enjoying this game series is enjoying that planning time and the slow game play. Don't think of it as a race bit a nice leisurely cruise on a boat.
  20. I must admit I would very much like a more detailed arty tab. Light medium heavy emergency just doesn't really cut it for me. I would like to have control of exactly how many rounds I'm expending, whether it be a FFE or a rate. Ie a rate 2 would be 2 rounds a minute and a rate 12 would be 12 rounds a minute. This then gives the player more flexibility on how he plans his fire missions. I'm actually quite surprised that BF have never updated this before.
  21. Read all this and decided to get a certain Tom clancy game that just came out, to while away a bit of time. I hate anticipation so this will take my mind of BF. Working offshore has advantages, everyone at work/school during the day so I have time to play. And the wife wonders why DIY takes so long.
  22. A massive thanks from me to Dragonwynn for taking the time and sorting this problem for me. Now I can get back to smashing the Russians with the dark magic of my M1s and Bradleys. Muhahahaha.
  23. After I posted this the light bulb came on, its been a long day lol, and i sent a PM to Dragonwynn.
