  1. I noticed CMSF1 is gone from the store. I have only the base game. Will the game and the modules come back at some point, or will you be able to buy CMSF2 directly (not as an upgrade) also?
  2. What we really need is more memes to make the wait more bearable. Remember that time we had to wait for the patch for 4.0? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
  3. I agree, facts are a pain in the arse. One of the facts, that incidentally also is a pain the arse, is that is has been 17 months since 4.0 was released, and still no patch.
  4. As far as I know there are quite a bit of exploits that allows you to discover the location of unspotted units. With stereo audio or better you can determine where any shooting unit is down to the tile, be they far away on-map mortar teams, or just a pesky machine gun whose position have not been determined yet. There are no clear way to solve it. You could play the sound from a generic location / direction, but that would hamper immersion. Another variant, is that you can see anti-tank weaponry from unknown shooters during the last 10-50 meters. You can use this to do "battlefield forensics" do determine the shooters likely location. It is my understanding that most people either, (A) have gentlemen's rules not to use abuse that knowledge, or (B) accepts that's how it is any information you gather, no matter the source, is yours to use. Personally I lean towards A.
  5. This problem still exists. Beyond ~150m you get single shots from Brens and Bars. In fact you get 0 practical firepower from an American or British rifle section beyond 200m, unless you manually area fire, since then everybody, except the Bren/Bar does not fire at all. An exception is if the targets are running upright, then the rifles might fire a couple shots. I have a test range setup, and the total fire output from a British rifle squad, without manual target order, against an enemy squad not moving, is around 3-10 rounds per minute, only fired from the Bren/Bar.
  6. All but one of the experience/training levels are "absolute" values. However, Green is relative: Green: draftees with little training and some combat experience or reservists with some training and no combat experience. Green can also represent professional soldiers whose training is substandard in comparison to another force. So I assume that's why a significant proportion of "typical" Russian forces are Green when going up against US, because the now professional Russian army is surely a bit above "draftees with little training and some combat experience or reservists with some training and no combat experience." - I mean they are neither draftees nor reservists - so the only reason they are Green is their training must be considered substandard to US? How to adjust then when you go up against a mix force of US and UKR?
  7. It might be a bit more widespread Though a few commonalities stand out: It seems the origin date of the crashes is something that happened around February. There might crashes for different reasons, but it seems at least one kind of error is Nvidia/Geforce graphics cards. Even if it is related to Geforce graphic cards, it does not mean for sure that Nvidia made a bad driver, although that could be one reason - OpenGL is not given the majority of the attention by graphic cards providers. Maybe Combat Mission is interacting with the OpenGL in inappropriate manners, that before was beforehand working, but driver updates assumes no such behaviour. Maybe Windows changed (broke) something recently - many with the problem are reporting using Windows 10, though not all. Regardless, the end result is the same; CMFI crashes. I can also say plenty of other games do not crash. So regardless of fault, it might fall to Battlefront to fix/workaround the issue.
  8. About amd64, that just refers to the CPU instruction set. Since everyone on Windows (gaming at least) are running 64 bit, all are using amd64 instruction set. But unlike you I have an Intel CPU. I know about the non-responsiveness. However, some of those do not recover, and those are the ones in my log.
  9. I have a several CMFI errors recently that matches the with nvoglv32.dll . I am guessing that stands for NVidia OpenGL (something v32). Faulting application name: CM Fortress Italy.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x58d2bf4d Faulting module name: nvoglv32.dll, version: 23.21.13.9077, time stamp: 0x5a67b418 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x009fc348 Faulting process id: 0x63c Faulting application start time: 0x01d3c78959ecb8a5 Faulting application path: C:\Games\Combat Mission Fortress Italy\CM Fortress Italy.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_7a39871618b19f06\nvoglv32.dll Report Id: a5d9e6d0-4c25-41ea-ba08-43bea800abaa Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: For both CMFI and CMBS I have quite a regular list of events related to application hangs / stopped interacting. Here is one: The program CM Black Sea.exe version 0.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel. Process ID: 2b20 Start Time: 01d3c2d0c2bf27d7 Termination Time: 3 Application Path: C:\Games\Combat Mission Black Sea\CM Black Sea.exe Report Id: 3150dc87-7df8-47f6-885d-1e110ab73cb8 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Though the root cause could be the same for both, especially if the reason is interaction with drivers.
  10. Maybe your crashes are related to these other ones, and A commonality seems to be Windows 10 and Geforce graphic cards.
  11. Another one. This time in TCP/IP Turn based multiplayer in CMFI. Again at exactly 27min mark. Believe I was pressing ready, my opponent was still planning.
  12. Just had it again... this time 27m20s in middle of a turn. Yesterday it was on the 19th minute turn. Quite frustrating.
  13. Think I have the same. Recently bough CMFI+GL and have crashes roughly same amount of time into a game. It does not happen with CMBS.
  14. I put a MMG team up and it had a bit short of 2000 rounds of .30cal M2. I noticed its total ammo available was >6k. There was another MMG team next and I moved it away and it dropped to >5k. An ordinary rifle squad was also near. I sent that away and it dropped from >5k to >1k. The rifle squad is listed as having 1280 rounds. I tried assaulting the squad away from the MMG team. Each time 2/3 guys went too far it dropped by 1k. So what's the deal? Do each infantry team from a rifle squad carry around 1000+ rounds each? Btw, I a save game CMFI+GL QB with engine version 4.0 if needed.
  15. Did find this weird trick. If you ALT-TAB into the game, and PrnScr, it will capture how the game screen was when you entered. So maybe, if you could make it ALT-TAB, out, and then back again, then capture the screen with PIL.ImageGrab?
  16. If you can use a Windows screenshot, then can can get the game into windowed mode. Then even ordinary PrnSc would work.
  17. What commander needs points for buddy aid? Bahh.. Isn't the current reward for saving your pixeltruppens life enough: that you get to sleep just a tiny bit better at night?
  18. Yes, this is sorely needed. But I believe it has been said, it will not come before the next generation (not iteration) of Combat Mission. So we are probably looking at 5+ years.
  19. Hehe, when I saw the title, I was confused for a moment as to whether Burns was a verb or a noun.
  20. The force ratios are different from the typical 3-to1. But you are also playing against an AI (i'm assuming). The AI might have some extremely specific reactions, but it can never adapt its defense in the same manner as a human player. So once you cracked a critical part of the defense, and don't make any major mistakes, you have typically cracked it all. From my understanding (amongst others from reading FM, particularly US), the force ratio is only a planning aid, to determine whether a COA is feasible. It does not necessarily follow that the execution of any plan developed based on the COA will be derived and use the force ratio so rigidly. But let me asks you: you have destroyed the better part of an "unreinforced" MRC; how much have you lost so far? And how is your Stryker platoon reinforced?
  21. Most anti virus services you can submit files for white listing online. Sometimes there is just one page for both false positive and negatives. For example: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB229 or https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission
  22. Maybe it is time to move to imgur. Free account, with unlimited number of uploads (if you don't create account your are limited to 50 per ip per hour). Each non-animated image may be up to 20MB in size.
  23. I agree that it is possible to spot infantry behind the tank via the cupola - but that should be with their eyes, not their ears.
