Many people have a very inaccurate idea about who the "insurgents" were. Most were NOT poorly trained "citizen fighters." Most were highly-experienced Warriors from the surrounding Arab countries (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and such), and Hezbolla, Chechnia, and Afganistan. They were there strictly to kill Americans, and to die as martyrs. In fact most were former well-trained Iraqis soldiers from the Army and the Republican Guard. One of the biggest reasons for the high U.S. casualty rate, was because of the U.S. "Rules of Engagement (ROE)" such as avoiding collateral damage to the non-combatant populations, and unnecessary destruction of property. The U.S. Soldiers and Marines actually value human life. The "Insurgents" did not. The "Insurgents" didn't care who they killed or what they destroyed to get at the U.S. Soldiers and Marines. If the U.S. Lost 700, how many did the "Insurgents" lose, and did it change the outcome of that operation? Look at it as exactly the same situation as fighting the Japanese during WWII; no regard for human life, and willing to die to for their cause.

If you already own CMSF1,  go to the Upgrades button on the BFC main screen. Select CMSF2. You'll be presented with selections for all combinations to upgrade your CMSF1 to CMSF2. Just the base game, base game with a module, or Big Bundle. You go to the games button on the main page to buy modules you don't already have. Those are not discounted. Just remember, go to UPGRADES for what you already own, and GAMES for what you don't own yet.

Well then, it looks like it's time for the Bradley's, and Abrams to reduce the complex to rubble. After you reduce the buildings to rubble with the Abrams and Bradley's, call in a 120mm mission with all tubes on maximum with personnel rounds. That should clear out the survivors in the rubble.

Welcome aboard Rafterman, and Merry Christmas.
When I started the CMSF1, it was just with the base game on PC because it wasn't ported to the Mac. As soon as BFC released Marines for PC, I snatched it up. I bought the "Big Bundle" when they released CMSF1 for the Mac.
if you intend to continue playing CMSF2 for a long time, I recommend that you purchase the "Big Bundle" that doesn't include the base game since you already have that. If I may make a suggestion, download the Demo. That way you can play each of the supplied missions that relate to each of the modules, and determine which of the three modules you like the best. Don't be misled by both the Stryker formations and the Marines being U.S. Forces, the formation, and most of the vehicles are very different. For example, a Stryker squad is nine soldiers; a Marine squad is 12 or 13 Marines. Their rifles are different, and with the exception of basically just the HMMV, most all of their vehicles are different also. Marine AAVs are amphibious, and Javs and heavy weapons are at the Company or Battallion level.
Now some here on the forum might suggest that I might be a bit biased (0369 is a USMC military occupational specialty code (MOS) for Infantry, Small Unit Leader), I would suggest that unless you have a hankering for a specific nation, and you can afford only one module at a time, that you pick up the Marines module as the play style is very different from the Stryker Infantry.
My two cents, I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever module you chose.

This program works for unpacking the Task Force Thunder and Semper Fi Syria campaigns. It will not work with the other campaigns because they are not on the v3 or v4 standard. However when the other campaigns are brought up to date for SF2, this program will be able to unpack them then.

Well, let's look at it this way; is this complex an assigned objective, or are the Fanatic Red's in the complex preventing you from taking your objectives? If no to both, then ask yourself why you are risking your pixeltruppen to take a complex that provides no benefit to the outcome of the mission. I don't know what the Red objectives are, but I suspect they relate to slowing you down, while inflicting the maximum number of casualties possible. What better way to do that than to entice you into a meat grinder like this? Maybe you can just bypass the complex. That's what I'm thinking of doing, but of course, when playing human opponents, you can never be certain how they will disposition troops, or what ground they will designate as important.

Want a real treat? Try playing it as an H2H on PBEM as I am. My opponent, with whom I've been playing PBEM H2H since he introduced me to CMBB close to 20-years ago, chose the scenario and the sides. An AI is a piece of cake compaired to a human mind.
Assuming you are playing Blue, my advice is don't rush it! You have what, 90 or 120 minutes to complete it. Dismount your pixeltruppen, and advance them forward using cover and concealment, and fire and maneuver. There's absolutely no reason for "Hey diddle diddle, right up the middle." Put your vehicles in hull down in overwatch positions. You WILL LOSE SOME! Just make sure that all your vehicles have a combined good LOS to most, if not all of the town so you can take out immediately, any enemy units that pose a threat. Keep them in overwatch until you can safely move them up. Don't forget that your engineers have demo charges. Use them to breach outer walls and buildings. Most of all, TAKE IT SLOW!

It all depends on the location, if there isn't any place on the map I can, safely, hide my supply vehicles during the setup phase, then, I'll order every Tom, Dick and Harry, in the unit, to vacuum up as many light, anti-tank, rockets, 40 mm HE/HEDP rounds, 7.62mm (If I have embedded mg's in my squads), 56mm ammo, regardless of rank.
Even, the poor s.o.b's who drew "Driver Detail", that day, all came out of boot camp with the MOS of a basic infantryman, get issued additional ammo and a fighting position to keep them from being added to the friendly casualty rate penalty.
All this, extra, micro-logistical, supply-management, because, right out of the starting gate, all available eyes are scanning the horizon to engage any light skinned vehicles with an accompanying glowing icon, above it, or, a "Whack-A-Mole" head sticking out of it. Then, "KaBoom", there goes all your extra ammo.

What I generally do, is to assess what I have, do I have any vehicles from which I can resupply, can I safely position my "resupply" vehicles near my men for "easy" resupply, etc. if I can't do that, I usually take extra ammo, especially for the "high high rate of fire" weapons, and all the AT stuff I can, especially if I'm in a defensive position where I don't have to move and suffer encumbrances from weight. Don't forget that your units will use motar rounds from a vehicle before their own internal supply if it is close enough to the mortar team, and your other units should automatically resupply from any vehicle that's close enough to them.
You really need to plan your logistics just as carefully as your tactics.

Don't let the OP's experiences put you off on PayPal. PayPal has a number of different options. For example, I have mine set to a credit card as default, but if I'm buying from a company that uses a different currency, then I use a direct bank draft to avoid the "Currency Conversion Fee" that credit card companies use to rip us off. I've never noticed the e-check option though.

a friend of mine was a cannon cocker in Vietnam. He told me they’d get a fire mission to fire a star burst at a specific location. He’d turn to his gun crew and say, “We’ll, looks like Recon’s lost again!”
We in the military are like a family; we might fight among ourselves, but if someone from outside the family jumps one of our brothers, the rest of us will “Read them from the book!”

Vet 0369 got a reaction from Bil Hardenberger in Javelins
Thank you for the vote of confidence Sir, but we didn't have Javalins when I was in. We were just getting the TOW, and showing the Manufacturer and the Army that we could do everything they were telling us that we couldn't. For example, they said we couldn't fire a TOW from a moving vehicle, so we mounted a TOW launcher on a jeep and hit the target while the jeep was moving. They said we couldn't  change targets in flight, or cross two TOWs in flight, so we did. Moral of the story; never tell the Marines they can't do something, they'll do it just to spite you.
Funny story about TOWs. One drill weekend in 1976 or 77, we went up to Ft. Riley, KS to live fire our 60mm mortars. We had to check fire and stand down on the range when an Army APC pulled up on the line, and the bleachers filled up with Army Officers, including a General Officer, for a demonstration. We watched great interest (none of us had ever seen a TOW) as a crew attempted to fire a TOW. WOOSH, BANG, the TOW slammed into the ground about 50 yds out. It must not have traveled far enough to arm the warhead, or it had a dummy, cause there was no explosion. The crew reloaded the launcher, and went back inside the APC. WOOSH, BANG! Same thing, same result. We were starting to chuckle at that point cause we saw the General climb down from the bleachers and enter the APC; we all know that nothing is funnier than another's discomfort, and those poor soldiers were about to get a real butt whooping from the General. After a little while, the General exits the APC, walks into the bleachers, and says "F$&king thing will work now!" Yes we were close enough to hear him. A few minutes later, WOOSH, BANG ; same spot. Our Weapons Platoon Commander, a Captain, says "F$&King thing will work now!" We were roaring, andthe General heard him, but was so embarrassed that he just left. Afterwards, our Skipper called over the Lt. commanding the crew, cause we felt sorry for him and the whooping we knew he was going to get later from his C.O. He had never seen an M2 mortar, so we let him fire a Final Protective Fire (30 rounds down the tube in 60 seconds). From the look on his face, he had just had an orgasm, and we had a friend for life, which is a good thing when you have to use someone else's facilities to train.
I have to assume that Javs are in the company or Battalion Weapons platoons because they are heavy weapons. For example, the Ma Duce .50'cal. and 81mm mortars are at Battalion level as were the Dragons that the Jav replaces. The Marines have the 5.56mm squad machine gun now, but the heavier 7.62mm gun that replaces the M-60 might be part of the Company weapons platoon as are the 60mm mortars. I haven't kept up with those changes for decades. Company or Battalion can better employ mortars, Javalins, and medium and heavy machine guns tactically than a rifle platoon can, but a platoon is still reinforced with them as the situation dictates.

I also have IL-2 (with all the addons and preorders) and Rise of flight on Steam, but I bought most on the developer's web sites during sales. I would rather pay a little more to make sure the developers get all of the money for the content. I too have DCS with everything except a couple of aircraft, but I bought everything from ED for the same reason stated above. Plus, after the licensing changes, new purchases for DCS on Steam can't be used on the ED DCS version, just the Steam version. I understand the cost factors. When my wife left her job to devote full time to raising our son, we lost 60% of our combined income. So, for 25 years before we retired, we were a one-income family. Want some real fun? First flight in a Gazelle, in VR!😖
