  1. It would be nice feature to be able to blow up the bridges with demo charges. Especially if you could manually trigger the charges so that they detonate right in the moment where an enemy unit crosses the bridge.
  2. Yes, there is a specific sight on the tank for it. The tank vs. tank simulation Steel Armor - Blaze Of War simulates the advantages and disadvantages of such early night vision devices very well.
  3. TRPs are great for traps. To bad we dont have them in Shock Force wich is the game i am currently mostly playing.
Translation: it is about drinking and smoking weed and then driving around in a Panzer.
  5. You could use WinRar to pack the whole mod into smaller parts of a size of your choice and then upload it part by part (and make sure the names of your uploads are reasonably chosen so people know wich part is wich). IIRC the Euroscape mod (wich is HUGE) is packed that way.
  6. I remember that not so long a ago you openly admited and defended national socialism as your ideology of choice and you also insisted on using racial slurs. That got you banned for a while. Basically your way of thinking is an insult to many people that is even worse than beeing called an idiot. And posting a photo of you wearing an SS camouflage jacket while holding an AK in your hands, along with a line that in this context implys a threat, doesnt make you seem more reasonably. But anyways, this thread is the most perfect example for why there is a rule in this forum that prohibits politicals discussions. Apparently such discussion have a significant tendency to turn into a flamewar, not matter what age the discussing partys are. EDIT: I personally would rather live in the US than in Russia for obivious reasons. But, that beeing said, the US also wouldnt me my number one home of choice. Austria, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Finnland, Sweden, Canada or France score higher on my list of countries of wich i believe that i would enjoy living there most. And just out of interest: is that AK fully automatic or semi automatic?
  7. No, that is BS. Your post is completely free of anything that could be considered a rational thought.
  8. Well a couple of tanks + a single sniper team is a mixed force . Too bad we cant choose the proportions by wich the AI mixes AFVs and infantry.
  9. The TURMS-T has better obersvation equipment and better protection against HEAT warheads IIRC. The new fancy ATGM (IIRC it is the AT-11 sniper) that the T-90 is equipped with is fired from the barrel of the 125mm main gun of the tank, so you cant see anything on the Syrian models because there is nothing supposed to be there. In CMSF the T-90 also has a slightly better protection against HEAT warheads than the TURMS-T IIRC. I think it is an infrared spotlight. Early infra red night vision systems were all active, they needed the the target to be illuminated in order to function properly. One of the downbsides of such systems, while beeing invisible to the human eye, is that they are easily spotted by other IR capable systems. Modern NV systems are either passive IR systems or they are image intensifiers. It is there to make HEAT warheads coming from the front-left or front-right side explode prematurely, thus decreasing their armour piercing effect.
  10. "Kapitulieren? Sie nie!" -"Surrendering? Not them!" I think that is what baron actually meant.
  11. Ha! Never. Neither the US nor Russia are going to risk an open conflict. Syria just isnt that important for neither of the two.
  12. There are never enough scenarios. It is great that you are making a scenario based on the Syrian civil war, it is a CMSF background i am very interested in too. And btw nice Shlika textures
  13. Does anyone want to test this scenario Red vs. Blue AI? I am already having 2 ongoing H2H test games, so it would be helpful if somebody could give it a try vs. AI.
  14. Here is the link to LLFs scenario: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=2525 And great you found the Base 46 scenario, hope you like it. If you do, you might also want to check out the other Syrian Civil War scenario i am currently working on, it is also going to be playable H2H: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=111001
  15. In theory this makes sense. IRL each crewmember would have a sector assigned for observation. The driver for example observes and reports contacts from 10-12 o clock, radio/hull gunner observes & reports from 12 to 14 o clock, the gunner observes in the direction the turret is facing (or anywhere else if he has a rotating periscope too) and the TC observes where he thinks that it might be a good idea. So if the crew is reduced to 3 (hull gunner/driver/gunner) and and the turrent is turned to 12 o clock, it is absolutely correct if the tank is blind to his rear because simply no one is able to look in that direction if the gunner keeps sitting in his seat next to the cannon. If all 5 crewmebers are alive, then it is absolutely plausible that the TC spots something that is sneaking up behind the tank. Interesting results, however. This implies that tank spotting is more complex than i thought and that there are actually virtual eyes looking through periscopes. Very cool, very cool. The problem in this discussion is IMO that the crew attention isnt focusing on the direction where the fire is coming from if they are engaging with the enemy. As it was shown in the opening post, the TC still observes to the rear even if the tank is involved in a firefight to his front. That is the problem, not that fully crewed tanks in general have the ability to spot targets to their rear. I am sure BFC is able to fix this.
  16. I believe (well, or lets say i guess) that in CM that there is a certain propability expressed in % for each direction that defines how likely it is that a TC spots something coming from that direction (things like distance and camouflagte are factored in too, of course, but are irrelevant for this discussion). That makes it possible that sometimes a TC spots a target that is in a position relative to the tank where it would be unlikely that the tank would spot it IRL. There are no virtual "eyes" looking through the persicopes. IIRC someone somtime even tested how tank spotting works. I dont have the link right now, but IIRC the result was that there is always a certain probabilty a tank spots something behind him, independent of what the tank is doing - although it is much more likely that targets to the front are spotted, of course.
  17. umlaut, why dont you post your scenario here: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/categories/cm-bn-scenario-map-workshop.320/ Usually CMBN scenarios find volunteers for testing them quite quick there. Map looks great btw.
  18. This one was an interesting experience for me H2H: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=106751
  19. Check out the Euroscape mod at the Repository. Maybe that has got what you are looking for.
  20. Very cool, kohleklau. I recently started to make a Sept. 43 CMFI scenario but once those winter mods are up at the Repository i am definately going to try and make something January/Februrary 1945-ish. Maybe a part of the batttle of Hürtgenwald, but i ll have to do some further research if that is a good background. I would really like to do something that takes place in the final days of the 3rd Reich, that is a kinda an apocalyptical background IMO.
  21. kohlenklau, did you upload all your awesome winter mods to the Repository yet? I am sure there are more people who like doing winter 44-45 scenarios.
  22. On a side note, do you think i am going to get banned if i open another video thread? Surely i would state in the opening post that political issues and conspiracy theorys are not to be disucssed, only the military aspects of the conflict. I really liked the video thread and it inspired me to do 3 scenarios based on the Syrian Civil War, so i find it to be kind of a pity that it got closed. Anyways, here are my 2 cents on the economical situation in Syria: the civil war is the worst thing that could have happened to Syrias economy. The best thing for Syria (from an economical point of view) would be if there was peace from tomorrow on and a stable, intact government was rebuilding the country, independent of said governments political ideology. IMO basically what a large scale, violent internal conflict does to any countrys economy is putting it on a stand-still, at best. In the worst case the economy breaks down completely after a couple of years (many african country serve as prove for that, take Somalia, for example). I think that this is part of the rebels long term strategy, BTW. Assad wont be able to maintain his expansive high-tech war machines without an intact economy for more than a couple of years of constant fighting. The rebels, on the other hand, can replace their personell losses quite easy, and they do not rely on expansive & maintenance-intesive weapon systems so much. Additionally, the decreasing quality of life of the syrian people that goes hand in hand with Syrias cumulatively failing economy is going to increase the rebels ability to find new recruits among the unemployed and frustrated. So in the end, the predictable economical breakdown of Syria is going to ultimately lead to a rebel victory on the battlefield. Prove for the prediction of said breakdown can be seen in Syria recently asking Russia for a credit of several billions. But that beeing said, i am not an expert on neither finances nor economy, so dont take my prediction of a rebel victory based on Syrias failing economy to seriously.
