  1. LOL the degree of detail in CMSF is astonishing.
  2. What about this one for the Eastern Front game?
  3. Just finished playing this scenario vs. Schmoly War with me as the SAA. It is very complex and realistic IMO, it played just like some of the scenes i saw on liveleak. The map is also very well done.
  4. You mean like an ad-hoc pro-BDSM demonstration?
  5. lets all lock each other togather and form a handcuff circle
  6. You can count me in for the next 30 minutes. Need something to do while waiting for PBEM turns. Haha. I am not sure if i want to be part of a "party" where bringing your own handcuffs is a requirement.
  7. Wtf is going on here? I think you should solve you differences like real men: on the virtual battlefield!
  8. I ve always wondered if smoking marihuana in a tank with the hatches closed improves the high.
  9. Yeah, it does. Entrance and exit holes are showen on tanks and other vehicles.
  10. That woul be great. But give me another week, briefings & objectives only exist on paper currently. Here are some more videos from inside Base 111: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkH780Ck7n8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1bsVC_bxOk 2nd video shows the AA gun positions on the northern part of the map. ...and here is a (slightly biased) video that explains the operational situation around Base 111. Red lines are the font lines.
  11. This semi-historical scenario is going to depict Al-Nusras capture of the Base of the 111th Army Regiment during December 2012 as part of the Battle of Aleppo that is currently ongoing in Syria, playable H2H or Red vs Blue AI. Map size is gonna be 2,222 x 1,993 km and i am modelling it in 1:1 scale from satelite images of actual Syrian terrain. Here is some background info: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-20666047 The IRL location on stalite images (The colours are not 100% correct in this image. I used a different image of the same area for making the map): https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&t=k&ll=36.257465632464374,36.89866645906066&z=15 Here is a video of the battle as it happened in real life, so you get an idea about what the terrain is gonna look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-EYEaEH2D4 This what the map currently looks like in the editor (probably 95% finished):
  12. Excellent find, thanks for posting. IIRC Google Maps has elevation contour lines for some areas of the world, but if it doesnt for that part you want to model, that tool is definately going to be useful.
  13. I am having the same lag in the editor. It is normal on older machines, i guess.
  14. BTW i just read that you had a tank in that scenario - in general, the best way to clear bildings is to pump them full of HE fire if you have a tank. Why risk the lifes of your infantry men by sending them in to close assault an enemy in a building when a couple of HE rounds can clear that building too? Ideally your infantry shouldnt do much more than confirm the kills the tank made when they enter the building IMO, at least in that specific situation you described. AGLs/shoulder launched missiles are also great for clearing buildings from the outside.
  15. I am doing this with the x/c zoom keys. Put your camera on the place you want to check LOS, zoom in to the waypoint of your choice, click it and check LOS.

  17. Captured Shilka duelling with SAF aircraft: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6tHwek701Q BTW here you can see a couple of rebels capture an 9K33 Osa SAM system: Here is video on Greek 9K33 Osa systems made by a news agency: Their interior looks exactely like the one we saw in the video where the rebels shot down that helicopter
  18. If you can not surpress it? Destroy it with artillery or aircraft. If it is walled off, you can destroy the walls with tank fire (a close hit will do the job). Another good tip for MOUT operations: use your tanks to create entrance points into buildings if the doors are loctated at places you dont want to go (like around that corner that is covered by a sniper, for example) Google "mouse holing" for additional info on where to blow holes into buildings. Firing on the top floor can have an effect on the lower floor, but not necessarily. Sometimes you soldiers fire is so inaccurate that they hit both floors, especially at longer rages.
  19. Interesting sounds. Better than the stock sounds IMO. Cool video too.
  20. Of these two options, the other one is more likely to be true. I am sure that the number of SAA defectors in Syria is greater than the number of US/UK instructors (wich includes the possibility that there are no US/UK instructors at all).
  21. SAA defectors probably have that practice.
  22. One time during the CMSF USMC campaign, the AI even surrendered before i touched ANY of the objectives . The AI was sitting on the forward slope and top of a hill and i just hammered them for the first 40 minutes of the battle with direct AGL/tank/Javelin fire from the distance and air support until it surrendered. Initially i just wanted to prepare the enemys positions for beeing assaulted but i was also happy with the result i got. At least none of my Marines died during that operation.
  23. IIRC these two guys saw themselves as freedom fighters, wich proves Sublimes initial statement. However you cant compare that incident though with the war Syria. That is an interesting question because most people, even in Europe, could answear that. 9/11 was a nice, warm September day over here. I was 11 and when i came home from school my mother said "Look, there is war in America." and i spent the whole afternoon watching TV. That was my pretty much my first contact with that degree of violence, i had never seen something like that before.
  24. Using smoke in order to mask otherwise unsafe movements is included in Jasons definition IMO. If you smoke an area to mask your troops movement, what you are doing is exactely what he said: isolate the portion of the battlefield you want to dominate. As far as i understood it, it is just that smoke isnt limited to the sole purpose of masking movement.
