  1. I was reluctant to get CMFI. I always found the Normandy campaign more interesting but was persuaded to buy the game anyway. It didn't take long for me to change my mind about it. It's my favourite at this point. That it covers half of 1943 is a big feature that I really appreciate, the very different terrain from CMBN is a welcome increase in map variety, that it has winter is really cool too. I believe it's also the next game due for a module so you're going to be getting more content coming while the game is still fresh in your mind.
  2. It's not often that one gets official recognition for one's hobby. I started making these comics as single page panels just for fun to express frustration at my own mistakes in CMBN in a game at The Few Good Men. To my surprise they were well received, and ended up with the assistance of Kohlenklau what became Battle for La Ferme Dupont. A second comic, then a third, followed and I found as my experience grew, the challenges did not diminish; I kept discovering new techniques, perspectives and things I wanted to try. Which brings us to Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg. This one puts me to the test - because it's meant to show just how good this game is - while still in Beta. It only gets better from here. Fortunately, I have an experienced player, IanL, to challenge me and to give suggestions and ideas to make this an even better experience.. I hope you enjoy. Comments as always are most welcome. A final word: the images are much better when seen large. Click on them as you go. You'll miss details otherwise.
  3. Brilliant! And handy for the player as we now have control and predictable behaviour. Nice, Ken!
  4. So is the difference in behaviour possibly due to different terrain between Ken and Pete's tests? Ken, did you use woods?
  5. ROUNDUP and an early invasion is thoroughly thrashed in Zuehlke's Tragedy at Dieppe. One source is not enough to base an evaluation on, but Jon is right, WW2 analysis has moved forward since the 80s and the discussion around these issues has matured from an idealized "we could have smashed them and stopped communism if only..." to a more realistic balancing of best outcomes and what is achievable with the resources available.
  6. I've seen this happen many times. I never really thought about it, because usually this was something I saw when units were bunched up and one would suddenly indicate up its pausing. I don't believe fatigue was the cause in the instances I saw it as this was often early in a battle before a lot of movement took place.
  7. OMG! Phil and I spoke via Skype just a few days ago. This is quite a shock. Get well all fast my friend!
