  1. Are you sure about that? Come to think of it the late afternoon part probably does require the editor. So there ya go you're right.
  2. Oh I see. I was wondering because I agreed with everything else you said. I only speak English so i can confidently say that you are much better at English than I am at your language.
  3. Essentially the AI plans, victory locations and setup zones for attack, assault, probe and meeting engagement are different.
  4. Counterfeit money? Kidding aside my script blocking plugin has pooched a few purchases, do you have one? Try another browser could work too.
  5. No it is the point. We want the game to, on average, reward good choices and as you say punish poor ones. Considrr Steve's thoughts earlier about the evolution of how the MG configuration evolved. If unbuttoned MG gunners were not taking casualties them why develop remote controlled MGs? Now there could be room for tweaking in the game if Steve feels like it. Perhaps a second crew member would be reluctant to follow their lost comrade and the crew instead should try to get out of the area. But who am I to say, I have not been bothered by the current behavior.
  6. The German one is a Y the US one I could not find so I used the modern upside down J. One reference I found for the Germans is here: http://www.niehorster.org/011_germany/symbols/_symbols_43.html Here is the key for my icon mod (http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=3263)
  7. LOL sorry man. There was a second assault over the same route a few hours after this one. Followed by the final assault along the US right flank. You can easily make one of those if you like.
  8. Any one tried some winder QBs yet? Hint, hint.
  9. Pretty damn good I would guess. One of the first things I did once I started working a a company with proper meeting rooms I still prefer to play at home though - less distraction and less annoyed bosses. I can only annoy one boss when I am at home
  10. Yes, that and the fact that on all the other war gaming sites I am on my name is "A Canadian Cat".
  11. I made it official: http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=3263 My tactical icon replacement is now available. Those of you who are using the version from CMBN you can keep using it there is no harm. The official version linked above is slightly smaller since it only includes icons for the US and Germany. Have fun and enjoy. Edited to add - yes that is the same preview image from CMBN. I'll update it with another one soon but for now it shows things well enough.
  12. That is BFC's stated goal - to make things better. I cannot say I noticed a difference, I would say it feels the same as CMBS and the other games.
  13. Nice work - I have been using something like these for years. Either hacked up my self (they look bad so no I am not sharing ) or from other people who have done similar things.
  14. Yes, the current hunt command is like the old move to contact command. At first I missed it too but not any more. One thing I have learned is that if you have a unit that moves forward in uncertain ground you want them to stop. You do not want them to keep going once they neutralize the contact that they made. OK what I really mean is you want to be part of the decision of if they should continue. The vast majority of the time, in my experience, that you make contact the right thing to do is stop and think about how to deal with it. Yes, but often. This is *not* something I do. Typically I use target arcs when I do not want my units to fire. In other words I use it to keep them from firing on far away targets and keep them focused on spotting and personal defence. The trouble with arcs is your units will not fire on things that are outside of the arc. Many times my perfectly setup arcs were the death of my units because something popped up just to the left or just out side and my unit ignored them - as instructed. Sigh. So arcs are used to prevent my guys from firing in the normal course of events with three exceptions: 1) immobilized tanks - it is the only way to get them to face a different way. Still I do this very carefully and usually in nearly 180 degree arcs that extend past the map. 2) moving tanks when one flank is safe and one is not certain - again nearly 180 degree arcs that extend past the map 3) AT teams or other assets I want to focus on AT work. For tanks and AT guns they get a circular arc that covers the entire map, for infantry AT teams they get a circular arc that extends to their good range - not their max range. Now all that I agree with.
  15. Well look at that - I stand corrected (from a post I made in another thread). Sigh, is that really necessary. Shakes head
  16. Sigh. Bridge bugs get fixed. Thanks @simon21 I see @ChrisND has already picked up your save. I get it bridges are frustrating because these kind of things keep popping up. It is a drag, I agree. Please keep reporting them and BFC will keep on fixing them. Perhaps some day years will go by without seeing more issues. The Stug thing is, well, not a bug as far as I can tell - to me it looks like change it and it causes other problems that are just as bad. The latest thread on the subject does not indicate that BFC thinks there is an issue. I know, you know I don't so: Set your expectations accordingly. And hate me all you want I'll keep kicking ass and taking names with my Stugs. Edited to add: well look at that BFC are going to look at it. See they don't do what I say every time
  17. I hear ya. I have a suggestion: Try QB Probes. I totally agree with you that QB meeting engagements can start to feel like a chess match all to often. Using Probe is pretty much a balanced attack defend matchup. You can still get a candy store effect I suppose but that depends more on who you play with. One of my current favourite things to do is a mirrored Probe via QB. So same map, same nationality defending or attacking, different force selection as made by the players themselves. Or the variation mismatched mirror Probes where one is in CMRT and one in CMBS, for example, you defend in one and attack in the other.
  18. So, when I test I do play H2H at least some. This time I played even more PBEM than usual thanks to having two of my regular opponents now on the test team: @Bud Backer and @Nidan1 . So here are my thoughts: A Muddy Affair - definitely fun H2H but really tough for the US so either accept that it is not an even match up and just have fun or give the more experience player the US. Action at Lanzerath Ridge - not really designed for H2H. You might like it but the German side will have a frustrating time and the US side might get board. CMBO Classic Wiltz - yeah awesome - do it. The Germans might have the harder go of it but that could just be because I got may back side handed to me in that one. Cutline to Grosshau - again awesome - do it. We are not quite done with this one but lots of fun infantry fight and a bit different than the usual fight for the objective. We started another one but did not get far before it would not load in the latest beta, or was it alpha, and we had to abandon it. Ah well it happens. It was big and we never restarted it.
  19. Did time run out at that point or did you manage to win in the end? Oops did I forget to put my name on it. Sorry about that. That is a tough slog as the Germans for sure. I probably made it a bit easier on the Germans given that people are able to get better than expected results as the Germans. The actual engagement lasted most of the day and consisted of three separate assaults. This battle represents the first one which in real life went terribly for the Germans with only a few wounded (all of whom kept fighting) US soldiers to show for it. I am glad you liked it. Oddly enough I actually had a pretty good time playing that H2H (as the US) as well - not sure how much fun my opponent had but I am sure it was challenging.
  20. Cool. Thanks for asking that I was going to but now I don't have to.
  21. Yeah, based on what they have said they have done and the Q3 2017 estimated release date I had my salt shaker ready. Hey you never know, they may have more done than they are saying. At the very least it will be interesting to watch.
  22. Welcome to the form - awesome user name BTW. You can certainly ask for opponents here - sometimes it works sometimes not. There are several dedicated sites just for that:
  23. OK so it sounds like it would be worth looking at 75mm armed ACs then to see if the TC is making the right call. The anecdotal reports from the demo seem like perhaps they are not in this case. I'll try to find some time to have a look and report back.
