z-Bee CMSF Mod Manager Released!
theFightingSeabee replied to theFightingSeabee's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
UPDATE: 1.4 will be released this weekend! Hopefully it will work well for you guys. -
To reload or not to reload
theFightingSeabee replied to rogue187's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Generally I'd say reload when you're not having fun any more. If you're playing multiplayer, it would not be advised. -
Or Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase in Spies Like Us.

Airsupport - how is it represented?
theFightingSeabee replied to Peerke's topic in Combat Mission Afghanistan
Mark, you're gonna have to wait until 2021 to see his answer. Sorry. -
Yes, Ryujin is right. You should hide them until you need them for support. Think of them as ammo boxes on tracks.

Feedback on "The Maroon Machine"
theFightingSeabee replied to afreu's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
I have not yet been able to play this one, but I can assure you that your scenarios are quite good. Yes, your AI has handed me my rear-end a few times, but still great stuff! I'll be looking forward to playing this soon. Thanks afreu! -
CMSF won't run on new 64 bit i7 system
theFightingSeabee replied to Erwin's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
It looks like that should be on your computer. -
I've always wanted that too, but have not wanted to be the one to do it. ;P

I'm all for giving glory to God and all that, but not as a war cry.

New Screenshot? (I think!)
theFightingSeabee replied to noxnoctum's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Well, having a tiny glimpse of 'the inside' allows me to see how the game is being developed. Trust me, they strive for perfection whenever possible. The real speed bumps, I think, are money and having one main programmer. The good news is that each new release since cmsf is building upon the previous one. That means that each release will be better and better. Normandy will be a better game than cmsf. As far as throwing bones, they like to throw out the tiny metacarpal type bones, leaving the femurs and pelvisis as a surprise . -
Particularly Dumb Question

Or you can do PBEM: Play By Email. Basically, you have a turn, then you email to your son, then he takes his turn and emails it to you. -
z-Bee CMSF Mod Manager Released!
theFightingSeabee replied to theFightingSeabee's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
UPDATE:: I've started working on the z-Bee mod manager again! I'm currently working on something that I think is quite cool... a key binding utility. It lets you change your key commands graphically instead of having to edit the text file, which is a little confusing at first. Version 1.4 is shaping up nicely. -
Can't run downloaded scenarios
theFightingSeabee replied to Easy 8's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
A) They may require Marines and/or Brits modules. 2) You may need to patch up to 1.21 instead of 1.08. C) It should work after that. -
That has to be one of my all time favorite quotes! I agree, but sometimes battles take days. Limiting EVERYTHING to 2 hours limited the game just a bit. That's why they gave the option of 4 hrs. The key word is "option". Some scenarios need intense time limits, while some scenarios feature large maps, ferocious battles, and half a dozen objectives! Real life day to day operations aren't always blitzkriegs. Slogs and quagmires are just another part of war. The Brits in Helmand are a good example of patience and tactics used to maximum effect. Edit: I've never actually made it to 4 hours, that's how I know it's enough!

praise for Hammertime
theFightingSeabee replied to Javolenus's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Hammertime is a great one. I haven't played it in a while, but I do remember enjoying it. Sooo... Switzerland eh? NICE. I'll go some day. -
AI and IEDs
theFightingSeabee replied to Clavicula_Nox's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Can the trigger man be too close? 10m is close to be setting off explosives. -
I am one of the guys that wanted what you want... more time. Thankfully, they increased the limit to 4 hours, which really is an eternity. Like souldierz said, just open the scenarios in the editor and edit the time. You may, however, depending on the scenario, be screwing up the intended purpose of the time limit imposed by the scenario designer. I wouldn't recommend it for probably more than half of all the scenarios in existence. Some scenarios/maps scream for more time to be able to complete a methodical, inch-by-f^ing-inch, coordinated assault. By the way, you can't (I don't think) edit the campaign scenarios. Those you have to live with. But making your way through a campaign with time limits just might make you a better commander.

I drive the Los Angeles freeways every day... I could sure use one of those! Edit:

which mods?
theFightingSeabee replied to InFireBaptize's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Sorry, I also love Pinetree's base icons. In my opinion, they do improve the game. -
which mods?
theFightingSeabee replied to InFireBaptize's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
The most important mods (for me at least) are sound mods. They can really set a more dramatic atmosphere. Also, I use the mod that takes the sun/glare away, half-height horizon mod, and a few more. You'll just have to experiment. My mod manager can help, and with a new version being worked on now, it will be easier than ever to experiment. Edit: How could I forget, Scipios mods are a must as well! -
I have a "The Green Zone" scenario from a year or so ago. Is this an improved version or one with the same name?

Game crashing
theFightingSeabee replied to CWorth's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
I have the pci-e version of the ati 4670. I downloaded the 9.12 drivers from ati/amd and it works fine. I did have the crash using the drivers that came with the card, but updating seems to have fixed the problem. Hope you get it to work!
