  1. "I quite like having tons of big boomers, thank you very much. :)" Artillery, Mortars and mines have killed more people than the plague.
  2. After the patch I had to restart a PBEM game. US attcker, medium, day, June, Map QB-127. As the US Attacker I was given the largest portion of the map to set up in, including the victory area. As the defender the German are given a sliver of the northern map edge to "defend". This is of course opposite of what the set up areas should be. My partner and I have decided to play it anyway. The US will defend and the Germans attack.
  3. Ya, I know about the opponent finder but it's a way down the board. I think if we had a sticky, right here it would be crazy popular.
  4. Look, all the players come here anyway. I have checked out the other sites, I don't want no friggin ladder, or sponser or cheeky damned software add on. BFC started this, can they just give an area for opponents wanted? You know...wanted mature opponent, here are the preferences and rules, etc, etc.
  5. Getting sponsored, a Yuku account? I don't know sounds like a lot.
  6. Does anyone have a cut and paste set of gentlemans rules for a PBEM game? Also is there a fan site for PBEM guys who can do 5-7 turns a week, more on some days? I play PBEM with one guy and he is a total mope.
  7. OK, I give. How the heck do you get the crew to fire the M2? I realize the M2 is mounted at the rear of the turret but I noted that there is no "target light" command on the M10. Obviously I had the M10 "open" during play but not once did I observe the crew fire the thing. Any ideas?
  8. Taki, You need a doctor not someone to explain ballistics and probabitlities to you.
  9. Herman, you may feel some slight discomfort but you are over 40 and this exam is necessary............"Moon River..."
  10. I miss the indicator also. I typically don't use Shreck's at more than about 125 meters and Zooks at more than 75 meters.
  11. Who reads briefings? I look at the tactical map and go.
  12. The armor is unbelievable in the game! The model detail is incredible and the skins are amazing. I think it will be awhile before any armor mod's show up. Maybe there will be mods for specific units and maybe some applied field camo but the truth is BFC has outdone the armor. These skins and models are the best I have ever scene. That usually puts modders out of work. Pete
  13. While the Marder crews saved money on air fresheners and candles; the interior didn't smell nearly as bad as the diesel, feet and ass smell of an enclosed tank. However that open fresh feeling that Herman got, with long locks of blonde hair flowing in the open top was often tragically cut short. Snipers, air bursts, grenades and shell splinters made open topped crews vulnerable. I have seen in game mortar kills with rifle grenades and HMG's. Marders are risky as are any open topped AFV. Another case of GWSS. German Weapon Superiority Syndrome.
  14. I did discover that you can run a Stuart or even an M8 through a personel minefield and suffer only track and tire damage. I didn't try to run the grunts over the same minefield afterwards to see if the mines were cleared. I could actually hear the anti personel "pop" at the tanks and armoured cars drove over them.
  15. Amen Brother, Amen! It never ends with the “How come my Panzerfaust fired by the 21st Panzer Field Kitchen missed the Sherman at 500 m?” or “My Panzergrenadier threw a rock at a Sherman at point plank range and missed!”
  16. Beware the Sherman tank crew Rage! Tank Hunter Team KIA's Sherman from less than 10meters from behind the bocage. As Sherman crew bails, secondary explosion surpresses the AT Team. Enraged tank crew pounces on AT team and mows them down. I swear the tankers had grins on their faces and fire in there eyes. It was awesome!
  17. Arnold nailing that homely maid! What's up with that?
  18. Well I would have to dig out my Paratrooper Module for ASL but I seem to recall that according to ASL, the 50mm were scattered throughout Normandy.
  19. I wonder if the German had their 50mm mortars with similiar performance as the American 60mm mortars, in CM:BN, if this conversation would even be taking place? Seems to me all those years ago when I played ASL that the German 50mm where fairly common. The standard light mortar of the German Army is the 50-mm. This is comparable in a number of ways to our 60-mm, although ours is the superior weapon on the whole, especially as to maximum range, precision, and all-around performance. Pete
  20. Dude, welcome to the adult world. Now give Mummy her credit card back and get back to your Xbox.
  21. First it's the "60mm mortar is too deadly, too accurate" it’s killing all our conscripts with their MG34 and MG42's. Second it was the Sherman tank crews assaulting across open ground and capturing objectives, which I am sure were defended by SS Superman armed to the teeth with MG's and potato mashers. Lastly, the Americans have too much artillery, "Oh the 105's have too many rounds". Everyone seems to accept the fact when a German squad, crew or weapon achieves exceptional results in combat. When it’s the poor Dogfaces who do the same, everyone cries foul. Next it will be the over penetration of the .45 ACP ammunition or the too high sustained ROF of the M1 Carbine! The accuracy and direct fire capability of the 60mm is well documented. This was a weapon where the Americans had a distinct advantage of the Germans. I have yet to witness the Banzai charges of the Sherman tank crews. I suspect if they assault a poorly defended location with a squad that is out of command and exhausted or panicked, the crew might have a fair chance at success. Now for the artillery. Remember the Americans were lavishly supplied and artillery was no exception. Lots of rounds and lots of tubes. Artillery is the God of War and the Americans historically had lots of rounds to throw down range. So if you fancy playing Herman, disperse your infantry and run when the spotting rounds show up. Have a reserve in command and good standing to mop any errant tank crews. Pete
  22. I try not to get closer than 300 meters with my 60mm snipers when doing dirty, close in direct fire. If you get spotted you get pasted! Problem is the little buggers fire all their ammo in 3 or 4 turns. I wish you could adjust the rate of fire.
  23. Same here, Windows 7 (64 bit) and twin Nvidia video cards. Runs like a charm. As a matter of fact she was custom built for CM:BN.
  24. Now that I think about it the American voices are rather bland. No soft Texas drawl, no Billy bob dialect from Alabama no nasally whiney Chicago types, WTF?
