  2. Should also be noted that I changed much of the golden yellow mud and dust to a more brown color.
  3. Greetings, Working up some units for the 11th Armored. In particular I worked some on the vanilla Cromwell Mk IV. Some weathering and slight change in hue along with decals. The gas cans were redone as well as the random tool box that shows up. Also decaled some Sherman V's and VC Firefly's.
  4. I notice you can get a trooop of British Shermans and have one unit with a Rhino just like with the US. However you can't do this with a troop of Cromwells, all 3 or 4 Cromwells have to have the Rhino. You can of course purchase a single Cromwell with a Rhino but there is the penalty.
  5. Going to add the Fail and Bail. You know the guy, he tries to pull off some 5 minute lighting assault with Cruiser’s, air support and rockets as prep then 12 guys in 3 jeeps charge to the objective.
  6. • A Rhino is able to squeeze through a gap in the bocage without widening the gap, which normally only infantry can exploit. • Heavy forest and light forest texture if the same. If a designer places heavy forest at the bocage base then the bocage in impassable to vehicles. The bocage may be blown but still vehicles may not pass. It’s often difficult to get a proper feel for the heavy or light forest hexes by merely trying to give movement orders to every action spot that is either heavy of light forest.
  7. Vehicles can wade a shallow ford only. Infantry can was a deep and shallow ford. Its in the manuel.

  11. Perhaps the driver was texting on his cell, changing a CD or a deer ran out in front of him. Or the phantom red car ran him off the road?
  12. I have made numerous interesting discoveries and would like to share these observations and theories with the group. Perhaps you have played these creatures in your PBEM experiences. I have played several of them and I have observed these interesting creatures and their behavior: • Manic/Depressive turn Guy- His enthusiasm for PBEM games is based solely on his success and failures. If he is prosperous he will send turns at an accelerated rate. If he is failing, his rate of returned turns will be diminished or cease all together. Once the turns stop coming, this animal is very challenging to locate. Some believe this creature will withdraw from the PBEM battlefield altogether or go in search of other opponents. A player’s turn production is proportionate to his success. (successful turns + perceived victory=higher rate of return). • Tiger/Panther Guy- Now this is a fascinating creature. He will forgo all military manner of combined arms and tactical doctrine. He will invest all his capitol in expensive weapons, albeit not many of them, with no supporting infantry or artillery. He struggles to cover the map with so few assets but man he looks good doing it. Ounce he loses one or two of these expensive beasts, he usually withdrawals and calls for a ceasefire. Tiger/ Panther guy seems to romanticize that his superior tanks will be assaulted by mindless hordes of inferior tanks across a 2000m billiard table. He fantasizes that his tanks blaze away at the hapless attackers and he achieves a 10:1 kill ratio, leaving the battlefield littered with dozens of Sherman’s. After all he has superior optics, armor and weaponry. Great expressions of surprise have been observed as well as the gnashing of teeth and gouging of eye sockets when this creature loses a superior weapon to an inferior one. • Elite/Crack team Guy-This animal is rare but does exist. Fueled by books and CD’s on “Sniper’s, Sniper’s and more Sniper’s) this creature cannot get enough precision shooting and surgical removal of threats at 1000m. He watches the Sniper Channel (Military Channel) and all manner of Whisper Channels (Hunting Channels). He is convinced that one man and his rifle can decapitate an enemy consistently from 500m and win a war. He is known to also possess scout, observer and AT teams with exceptional abilities. In the event that a volume of fire is needed he will resort to artillery strikes or cheap rockets, which are never as timely and accurate as imagined. Transformation Warfare in WWII will always be an impossible goal for this animal. Once his few elite weapons teams begin to suffer loses this animal will typically withdrawal to Operation Shockforce or Call of Duty. • God of War Man-As we all know artillery is the greatest killer on the battlefield. It is thought this creature believes that by peppering the map with artillery and efficient use of TRP’, he will crush his unseen enemy quickly. Should the enemy escape annulation by artillery he will typically set elaborate defenses of mines, AT guns, specialized teams and fortifications. Again if his tactics fail he will usually withdrawal. • Professional PBEM Man-Truly a rare find. This creature is well versed in combined arms warfare. His penchant for tactics is only exceeded by his ability to return PBEM turns at a reasonable rate. He is truly a worthy opponent, a man who has studied his history and tactics. His turns are usually followed with interesting email comments and notes. He shares his observations and experiences with his opponent, usually slathered with some self-deprecating humor and personal history. While personable and likable, this man is deadly. It has been noted that he does not coexist for long with all the creatures listed above. Perhaps some of you have observed these creatures and/or phenomena. If so can you confirm and/or dispute my findings?
  13. Setting paths is the players job not the TAC AI. Commanders bare the responsibility of plotting moves realistically, taking into account the specific vehicle, paths, geography, speeds and turning. If you expect the TAC AI to do this for you, you will be disappointed. The world is an imperfect place and so are PC games.
  14. Well the vehicles require some management. Waypoints have to be chosen wisely, watch your speed when turning and know if your vehicle can corner worth a darn. Avoid making turns around objects. When doing a 180 degree facing change it is best to "change facing" before proceeding in the opposite direction. Giving a vehicle facing north a movement command to travel straight south will be disasterous for example. The vehicle will pivot in a circle and it can get ugly. Time your routes when in "convoy" movement so vehicles don't bunch, use the pause command and allow at least 5 seconds between vehicles. Routes need to be specific and use many waypoints. Simply picking a couple of waypoints to cover 500 meters will lead to disaster as the vehicles struggle to pick the corrrect route. Practice.
  15. On the Cromwell IV and VII the gas cans vary and the additional toolbox also.

  17. This scenario is a pain. Forst the whole worthless foxhole thing but worse is the set up. You place your units in what seems to night time in the rain. You set your sight lines are at most 120 yards or so. The scenario starts and BINGO its daylight and suddenly you can see 400 yards. Your units are pulverized because you set your arcs too short.
  18. Very true, overall this game, it's artwork, GUI, subject matter, historical representation and playability is unrivaled. It is in my humble belief the finest game ever made.
  19. The links looked "solid" not like an alpha layer. That being said the KT should be a higher poly masterpiece for the attention the darned thing gets. Compare the road wheels of the Jagdpanther or Panther to the KT and you will see an obvious difference.
  20. The in game Porche KT does not appear to have the tread links mounted on the left side turret like those seen in the release candidate screens. When you compare the KT to the Jagpanther, well there is no comparrison. The in game KT may be an earlier low poly model. Must have slipped through.
  21. OK, I just put a 17 pounder AP round into the front lower hull of a STuG IIIG and right out its tailpipe at 178 yards. That's awesome!

  23. Really? Why don't the IC just invade North Dakota or the vast untapped oil and gas reserves in the US? C'mon man the oil greedy, military industrial complex argument is getting pretty tired. Much cheaper to develope oil sand and shale, or drill off the coast and Alaska. Better yet take Venezuela with a National Guard Battalion over the weekend. I don't blame you for your comments, you are just barfing up what you learned on campus and on CNN.
