    Or how about just saying, "not my taste but its great that you mod". I love em WOKI so keep it up! Moders are such a important part of CM and I think anyone that makes the effort and shares should be applauded even if everything is not to once personal taste.

    Yep, it's now official. You've all finally talked, whined, badgered, nagged and begged me into it. I will -at last- be updating TweakedUI v4 to be fully compatible with CM:FI (including GL). That means Italian silhouettes, branch icons, and -I haven't looked into this yet, but if at all possible- the Italian rank structure. Heck, maybe even portraits!
     
    It won't be a separate mod, but rather a complete mod pack that works for both BN and FI. That way things that are already in place in BN, but not FI, are ready from the get-go for any upcoming module that possibly includes them, as I won't guarantee quick future module updates just yet.

    Now, I won't name any names yet, but 'this guy you all know' yet again came up with this neat new concept. New to CM, that is. The entire gaming world outside of CM has been saturated with it for years. What am I talking about? Achievements! Obviously for use in campaign games only.
    Since I'm the go-to-guy for 'this person you all know' for this type of odd-job, I happily sank my modding teeth into this one.
     
    I've been playing around with the idea for an evening. It's just a bit of fun, and nothing too serious. I just thought this was too cool not to share straight away:

    rotflmao, just noticed this was tagged "sburke is a fanboy".  way too funny.  And yes I am a fanboy.  Proud of it actually cause CM is a kick a** game.

    Thanks mate but shame about the silhouettes. For what it's worth, pretty pretty pretty please. So close to unified UI across all the CM WW2 titles.

    Heh, like I said in the first post, only when I get bored.
     
    But, to be fair, the actual work in doing them is pretty minimal. And I do get a lot of requests for them, I might as well get it over with. Got a few weeks of vacation coming and I'll see what I can do.
     
     
     
    Gosh... Seems there's going to be a semi-dedicated UI mod for FI after all. Who'd have thought...

    A flavor mod, requested and brilliantly thought up by Kohlenklau. It's specifically intended for scenario designers who wish to simulate parachute drop zones on their maps. Comes in two flavors: early war white and late war olive drab.
    This mod is tagged and as is it's only usable for the Market garden module. It can basically be used in any CMx2 game by fiddling with the tag system, though.
    Available at GaJ's right now, and shortly at the repository.
     

     
    NOTE: This is not a mod in the traditional sense. It is specifically intended for scenario designers who wish to simulate drop zones on their maps. They will release it themselves as a custom companion mod along with their scenario.
    There is no point in downloading and installing this mod if you are not a scenario designer.

    Ok. They are out. And when you guys DL them and think "Hey, there are only like 950+ portraits, what took so long?" realize that this is only about half of what was created. I didn't get to the Stug brigades like I wanted either but I will. I had family visit for a week and a bit of burn out slowed the production right down. Normally I wouldn't release this just yet but I am heading out to Colorado for about a month so I figured you guys waited long enough and would be happy to use what is made.
     
    I am only gonna post these on Gaj's for now, so that when I get back and finish them I don't have to update two different sites. Maybe the Repos will be redone by then.
     
    Note: The Russians are REALLY anemic compared to the Germans but there isn't anything I can do about it unless some of you guys know of a site (maybe on the Russian internet) that has a good deal of identifiers I could use. Apparently they don't have division patches/symbols but maybe there are larger formation symbols out there?
     
    Anyway enjoy, hope you guys like them. I'll be headed out tomorrow morning, and may be able to post while I am gone—not sure if I will have access to the internet while I am there. Hopefully when I return the Bulge will be out!

    Thing is, they aren't really scouts, they're "walking point". The SL isn't going to give his expensive binos to guys who're pretty much expected to get shot and might have to be left where they fell. They're called "Scout" teams, because if you told Smith and Jones off to form a "Bait" team, they might not appreciate the glory you're offering them.
     
    In the same vein, when you have a three-team German squad, with the SL and his assistant both having MP40, if you split an Assault "A team" off, the Assistant (who stays with the B team) doesn't pass his Schmeisser over to one of the A team. Because, though there are many like it, that SMG is his.

    Thats very rude and insulting !
    What you do is basically pressure the admins to ban me...a move i think is very childish.
    Iam not the only one who posted slightly "off" topic stuff. Look at the requests for specific vehicles...
    If you hate me (for whatever reason) then put me on your ignore list and leave me alone.

     
    Oh, i already tried that with a assault rifle in my hands and a anti-tank rocket on my back...
    The point is, you cant compare real terrain with CM terrain and you cant compare real infantry movement with CM movement, especially all the "micro" movement like raising your head high enough to get LOS or similar.
    Thats why i think they need to work on this issue.
     
    The problem is that many CM maps are so small that your units will spot and "murder" the fleeing enemys anyway.
    What you suggested is kind of a "workaround" but still i think we need more AI features regarding routing and surrendering for a more realistic gameplay.

    So, i think despite the fact that many here are very rude towards me iam still behave civilized.
    If Steve does not want this discussion here he maybe can just exclude it into a "new" thread if this is possible with the forum software.

    If you want LOS from the standing position, you have to stand up. Try lying down in a field of tall grass and see how far you can see, even if you raise your head a bit. LOS doesn't work that way, and there's no reason for it to be changed just to be more "gamey". Your statement is a matter of personal opinion, not a fault with the game design.
    I personally advocated for an increased spotting ability while hiding many years ago, but was simply told, 'that's how it works'. Unlike you, I said 'okay', and left it at that.
    The problem with most of your complaints is that they have already been done to death years ago, and we're tired of rehashing the same tired old topics.
     
     
    Then don't advance down the map edges. Ever since the days of Shock Force, the A.I. has relied on the player to click the cease fire button when they feel the battle is over. There is a point where it auto-surrenders, but it's not perfect. Secure all of the stated objectives to your satisfaction, then hit cease fire. If you make every single scenario into a bitter fight to the finish, then you will run into groups of broken soldiers hiding along the map edge.
    This is not an issue with the game engine, it is an issue with how you play the game. Stop trying to murderize the A.I. in every fight, and you'll see your enjoyment of the game go up by a huge amount.
     
    Now, I would like to make an on topic point. I would like to echo the request for information as to the proposed Shock Force game engine upgrade. Is this on the back burner for the immediate future, or will work on it be done in parallel with other projects?
