Slope Effect - vehicle charts and spreadsheet

My God, that is a lot of work. -
Great resource. Thanks.

Thanks Sergei. That's a great site.

Here is a link to photos of Normandy, then and now. I found this while looking for scenario resources. Link below. http://s10cil.com/archives/1970

That's odd. On the information page for the patch it says saved games will work from 1.31 if you save them during the command phase.
-
The quick battle component, as in CMBN, is the improvement I would like to see come to CMSF. Potentially this could generate new sales of CMSF. At very least, I believe existing owners would pay a module price to add it to their cllection.

Thanks for the patch.

Yes it would be nice to have the tank templates.

Looks Great. Really nice work.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to both patches. I too am a great CMSF fan and the German campaign awaits me.

Will mods be retrieved more quickly as brz. files or is the difference negligible if they are bmps inside a folder.

There were a few ways I enjoyed using force selection in cmx1 that I now use in CMBN. It would differ depending whether I was playing another person or the AI. Playing a person I preferred a combined arms approach usually using regular quality units and now and then some vets or higher. Tanks for U.S. were 2 Shermans and 1 M10. German tanks were usually stugs. I also loved guns so 1 or 2 were always present. Small meeting engagements were my preferred scenarios and I always liked dawn with a medium overcast map. For a QB with the A.I. , like many, I gave great advantage to the computer opponent. Very enjoyable games these are.

The Carillon Nose (137th Infantry) - Campaign In Progress
z1812 replied to LongLeftFlank's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
It is an impressive project you are both undertaking. Looks great and thanks for doing it. -
Nice work. I hope you post this to the repository.

Since you have had total victories in 3 out of 4 scenarios I would suggest you continue as you are refining your approach as you go. I still am not sure of how different systems work. Especially spotting for artillery and command and control. I have found that sending out scouts is a necessary tactic. I usually give all of my troops a small target arc to be sure thet do not give away their position as they try to position themselves. This is very useful for scouts. Other than scouts the trick is to remember to cancel that arc if you presume contact is imminent. To spot for artillery I send out a scout team with a small target arc. Usually I am able to find a place that gives them LOS without their being discovered. Then I roughly follow that path with the actual spotting team. Then I plot the fire. I usually lead with infantry and follow with tanks. I don't intentionally use infantry as bait. High casualties were quite normal in Normandy. Especially during the early days. I am currently reading "Four Stars of Valor" which among other operations chronicles the situation the 505 PIR faced in Normandy. Here is a link if you are interested. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/four-stars-of-valor-phil-nordyke/1007989728 When I rack up casualties I have to remind myself that this is histrorical. I am used to lower counts from CMSF which also seems to be inline with the combat it portrays.

Squads refusing to exit buildings
z1812 replied to Thin Red Line's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I have had troops refuse to leave a building. Its only occurred once...........so far. -
Johnny I sent you a PM

I suppose if the wheat animation was made blank then the ground underneath would show the grid.
-
As far as I know, because of the crop animations the grid won't show underneath. I usually just zoom to ground level in such a situation. However a grid would be much better.
-
During Barkmann's corner a Sherman moving by a German infantry ambush position is showered with grenandes and small arms fire resulting in the crew abandoning their tank. I watched this a few times at zoom 1 and close in. Amazing action.

For me also.

I have read the posts on "panzerfausts" and on installing to version 1.30 in order to have access to the panzerfaust launchers. I have started my german campaign in 1.31. Will a saved campaign file from 1.31 work in 1.30? Thanks in advance for all replies.

At the moment I play scenarios alternately. One from CMBN and then one from CMSF. It provides a nice contrast and different challenges. Lots of fun too.
