  1. I was in a situation with an enemy Sherman just around the corner of a house in a very small village. The Sherman was buttoned. Behind the house I had a faust team in good order. Also my mortar had LOS on the tank. I decided to fire smoke and sneak my AT team through the smoke to attack the tank. I should mention that the Sherms turret was facing away from my troops at a 3 o'clock position. So all is well and good. However as the smoke cleared the AT team did not fire. The Sherman turned it's turret and eliminated my team. Any thoughts on a better strategy? In addition I have not seen an AT team fire from a house. I presume that is in consideration of the back blast.
  2. So far I have used a small force which I pick for both sides with a large map that I also choose. I always give the computer more and better forces than my own. Seems to make for interesting play. I save each turn so I can go back after to try different approaches to a problem.
  3. Great information. It will certainly help me to reach a decision about a monitor. The TV option is also quite interesting.
  4. These are great. Are they available yet?
  5. I was thinking about this thread and it would be nice to have more content available and of course to have it more quickly. What about smaller add ons? German Para set at $10? SS troops. Perhaps a utility to trade mods easily. Terrain sets etc. When there was enough different sets to constitute a complete module then they could be sold as a group. We wargamers would be happy having more to play with and BFC might enjoy a more consistent cash flow.
  6. Thanks for your reply. It looks like a 27 inch monitor for me.
  7. Is anyone using a 27 inch monitor for CMBN. If so how do you find it works for you and is it easy enough on the eyes?
  8. Years ago I wondered about Syria being the "red" choice for CMSF. Now it does not seem such a stretch.
  9. I use different ones and have made some sets from others work for my own use. So it may be pea dot one day and splinter pattern another. I have about 7 different groups including Vien's. There are never enough instances of camouflage.
  10. These look great. I will download them after work. HintJ, are you a CMBN player? If so would you consider doing mini icons for it?
  11. Theses games, in my view, are the best tactical wargames one can buy. I have no idea how many copies they sell. Hopefully it is enough to keep them all comfortable. The only Combat Mission series product I am missing is CMA which I will buy soon. I play PBEM's of different games regularly with 5 to 6 people. 2 of them are playing the demo now and judging by their comments they will soon purchase it. I know one other fellow that will buy it for sure. So I presume there are still a lot of people waiting to buy, who will, but in the future.
  12. I just noticed this today in a hotseat game. Weapons disappear from units both loaded and unloaded. Although as said above the bug seems less for those who start on foot.
  13. I re-installed 1.00 after upgrading to 1.01 so I could finish pbem games. I forgot to update the Z file with my current mods and was playing the stock game. The difference in the game's appearance was stunning. This is just to say once again. Thank you modders for doing such wonderful work. It really makes a great difference to the game.
  14. Thanks for your replies Steve. I can see where using time to move CMSF 2 ahead would be more productive for Battlefront as well as players. I am looking forward to what's being developed.
  15. My advice is to buy at least 3 Shermans and off board and on board artillery. Don't waste points on air support. Don't buy any halftracks as the map is small. Study the map well at ground level to determine the best approaches. At the unit purchase screen pay attention to the various attributes the units have. But most of all...........Have Fun!!
  16. Timing was a very important factor in the Nazi's defeat. Had Hitler listened to the majority of his General Staff and other advisors he would have waited longer to wage war. Their advice was that the earliest Germany could be well prepared for war would be 1943. Many advised waiting until 1945. Thank goodness for Hitler's impatience. As others have mentioned, the persecution, killing, and interment of vast segments in different population groups hampered German ability to harness manpower and expertise. Also as others have said. When you attack Russia you are " rolling the dice".
  17. I hope development time is shorter than that. I am not getting any younger......
