Thanks for the patch, and looking very much forward to the patch and v2 upgrade of CMBN. Oh, and Market Garden ofcourse. Good times!

accuracy/efficiency of machine gun fire
PanzerMike replied to Killkess's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Hitlers saw seems to be blunt... The MG42 had a fearsome reputation, but is not very impressive in CM. That has been my experience too. But a clip like this is a revelation. I am curious if this appaling accuracy is intentional (playability?) or a bug. -
Thanks for the info. So it will be a few months before we see the CW patch. So looking forward to Market Garden (I live near Arnhem). But ofcourse I will buy CMFI too. Just to keep me busy while waiting for the CW patch and MG :-) I applaud your decision to upgrade CMBN to v2.0. There is still a LOT of life left in CMBN. It will probably reside on my drive for the next decade :-)

Roadmap for CMBN releases
PanzerMike replied to PanzerMike's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
"We are planning on at least one patch for CMBN before Market Garden is out. In fact, I would like us to start getting one ready as soon as Italy is in the can. Steve" The patch is coming, but it seems they have not started working on it yet. -
Roadmap for CMBN releases
PanzerMike replied to PanzerMike's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Okay, so I am not the only one who could not find any confirmation on the patch in this avalanche of information. BFC, what about the patch, is it still on? -
If I understand correctly, this is what is going to happen for the CMBN family: 1) Patch (fix that King Tiger!) 2) Upgrade package to v2.0 (after CMFI is released) 3) Market Garden (which only runs on CMBN v2.0) This is it right? Sorry if this information is a already available, but right now there are so many threads I could not keep up. I am still stunned :-)

AAR: Battle for the Niscemi Highway
PanzerMike replied to ChrisND's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
We do know we are now back in 1943. And Italians are mentioned too. This is a most unexpected detour BFC is taking. We were expecting Market Garden, not Sicily 1943... The fighting for North Africa (Tunis) is not far off either this way... -
AAR: Battle for the Niscemi Highway

Exciting times are here again it seems. Yay! This is a surprise indeed. -
I feel your pain. In 4 weeks I am going to Normandy for 2 weeks for a well deserved vacation. But it just won't be the same without the patch... And I don't like mushrooms, I will settle for cidre and camembert. I know a place just behind Ohama beach were they sell the best apple cidre around. Can't wait.

"Waiting for Godot follows a pair of men who divert themselves while waiting expectantly, vainly for the patch to arrive. They claim an acquaintance will deliver it but in fact hardly know him, admitting that they would not recognize him were they to see him. To occupy the time they eat, sleep, converse, argue, sing, play games, exercise, swap hats, and contemplate suicide – anything "to hold the terrible silence at bay".

If it is an April fools joke, it is a very elaborate one. I also saw beach landings on the promo video. Not even CMBN had this. This game will be much better than CMBN, he he he. Who wants to buy my copy of CMBN? Ah, I forgot, don't own a frickin I Pad. Never mind.

Okay, so the SAS tank crews are still in, but this will be corrected in the next patch. No word yet on spotting tweaks?

Oooh, is that a flamethrowing Crocodile behind that tree on the left? Great!

We're not so old after all
PanzerMike replied to Cymru's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
39 here, but not intending to become 40. Going to count backwards from now on. Don't want to risk a mid-life crisis now, do we... -
So who here is enjoying this?
PanzerMike replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Oh, you naysayer :-) Crocs must be in (fingers crossed). -

PanzerMike replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I already enjoyed CMBN before, but I just got me a new gaming rig. It is lightning fast (it should be, this baby was expensive). I now play CMBN with all bells and whistles on maximum and it looks glorious! Everything is silky smooth. Oh boy, this game is going to provide many years of fun. A real winner! Now bring on Commonwealth will ya! I know the Crocodile flamethrower will be in, you will not dissappoint :-) Okay, I don't know, but one can hope... -
Okay, must have missed this (have not downloaded anything the fast few weeks). Hmmm, another account, sigh...

I am trying to download some stuff from the repository, as I have done numerous times before. But now I can't. I have to login or register it says. Is this new? Do I have to create another account besides my forum account to download from the repository? Entering my forum name and password does not work.

I really hope flamethrowers will be in. Not sure though. I think the Bren tripod will be in for sure. And PIAT's! Definately PIAT's! I want the spring sound when it fires. Oh yeah! -

PanzerMike replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I think CMBN is a blast. This is the stuff I could only dream of when I was a kid. I do yearn for the Commonwealth / Market Garden stuff. CMX1 was very broad in it's choice of hardware and settings. So CMBN feels a bit limited compared to that. The modules will fix this for sure. Can't wait for the Churchills (especially the Crocodile flame throwers) and Cromwells! But overall, this is friggin' great stuff from BFC! -
Dog Red, Easy Green, 1/2 Easy Red
PanzerMike replied to permanent666's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Looks really good. I have been tinkering with the section just to the left of your map on Easy Red up till WN 62. My map is 1,5 km wide and covers the section of Omaha where the American Cemetery is nowadays. I do however share the same concern as Kip: these big maps need big rigs to run on! My rig is a few years old and when I testplay with good details on, the game really slows down. The troops on the beach are really exposed and it's a real turkey shoot with tracers and explosions everywhere. It really puts a strain on my pc. -
The only thing that sorta works is nerfing the attackers. Low motivation and fitness against highly motivated defender with high fitness. Not sure I like that, kinda artificial. Giving the attackers a few tanks is a nono. My bunkers get blown up in seconds. I also do not think the problems we encounter are easily solved. Granted, Cmbn is no invasion construction kit. But...the issues with the feeble bunkers, the missing AT bunkers or gun pits and the ease with which mg's are taken out due to lack of suppression are debatable imho. Some finetuning may be required. I wish these things were moddable. I think right now Omaha is a dead end.
