  1. This puppy has been downloaded 100 times. Anybody who played it feel free to comment. It was my first shot at making a scenario. I deliberately focussed on a German defensive operation, as most scenario's deal with allied attacks. And I tried to make a map that feels 'alive'. Was it any good? Any comment is welcome!
  2. Good job on the map. Making a good map is a lot of work. Many times map are a bit to sterile. Making a map that looks 'alive' takes effort. And it is never finished, at least I am always tempted to keep tinkering with it.
  3. One thing you can do to alleviate the pain of the urban uber tanks, is to design maps that give infantry enough places to prepare an ambush within the streets of villages/towns. I have made a scenario that was published today in the repository: "In the heat of the morning". The scenario deals with a company sized attack on a village. There are tanks in support. I tried to make the village a very inhospitable place for tanks. It is my first scenario ever, so don't be too hard on me if it's not any good.
  4. Some extra info (ofcourse there is a briefing in the scenario file too): Category: Fiction Best played as: German vs AI only Scenario length: 70 min Mission type: Allied attack Date/time: 12 June 1944, 0730 hrs Weather: Hazy Temperature: Warm Wind: Light from the south Ground: Wet Map size: 800 x 624m Designed by: PanzerMike. This is the very first scenario I have made for CMBN. It was a lot of work but is was fun too. Thank you JonS for your scenario Design DAR/AAR, it was very inspirational and a great help! I put a lot of effort in the map. Urban combat in CMBN has been much discussed. There are improvements forthcoming in the Market Garden module. Meanwhile I have tried to make the village a place with lots of places for the infantry to take positions that will make life for tanks pretty hard. I will probably revisit this scenario when MG is out. Meanwhile, I hope at least some of you enjoy this scenario.
  5. From "By tank into Normandy" - Stuart Hills: "When we entered a town or village, tanks did the softening-up first by destroying all possible positions where enemy infantry might be lurking. We simply hosed down the buildings with shells and machineguns, and then called through our infantry for house-to-house clearance" Any possibility that the AI tanks can perform something like that in the near future (V3.0)?
  6. Steve is very active on the forums lately, something must be up... Ow wait: Not to worry, there are some urban centric improvements on the way for you guys very soon. Some will be in Market Garden, others will be in the not-too-distant-future Upgrade v3.0. This is wonderful news! Can we pre-order yet, he he he.
  7. A visit to to the Airborne museum at Hartenstein in Oosterbeek is 8,50 EUR. It will keep you entertained for a few hours. So I can visit the museum four times for the price of countless hours of refighting the the battle for Arnhem with the CM module. BFC, please take my money. Can we pre-order yet?
  8. Come on everybody, the mood in this thread is turning a bit sour. The imminent release of MG is something to really look forward too. I may be a bit biased though, as Arnhem is my backyard :-) If you are not interested, fine, don't buy. If you are not sure to buy, fine, wait a while until it is released and you have all the information, and then decide. If you are sure to buy (like me), fine, there is much rejoicing and feasting :-) Steve also made it clear that there are improvements/fixes/tweaks to the engine, but they will not be disclosed until MG is released. Now I don't like to wait for that kind of info, but Steve can be really cruel that way ;-) We will know soon enough anyway.
  9. Exactly :-) Take the pain like a man and get it over with!
  10. Surely you can tell me, trust me, I'll be a good boy. Really. Hi my name is PanzerMike and I am a CMaholic.
  11. It actually looks kinda Dutch on the screenshots. Good for immersion. Content wise, this module looks totally worthwhile. I am particularly looking forward to the AA weapons on the Western Front. They are cool in CMFI and I am glad they are ported to my favorite theater now. I am definately going to buy it. That said, still no word on improvements on the engine. Mind you, I am not talking major overhaul, just smaller tweaks. It has been talked about ad nauseum on the forum, but I think it is safe to say that the area of the engine that could really use some love is urban combat. The behaviour/abstraction of AT weapons and the uber spotting tanks. No word from BFC on this. Fingers crossed.
  12. Yeah, weird huh. I can see the slide shows using this URL: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=325&Itemid=558 Works for me...
  13. Hmm. Nijmegen is within scope too, so lots of Yanks with bazooka's. Oh, and some Jerry Schrecks will probably be around too :-) Nah, really hoping for some tweaks here.
  14. What slideshow? I see 9 screenshots and that's it. There is supposed to be more? Any sneak peaks under the hood Steve? Engine tweaks? Bugs fixed?
  15. Operation Market Garden details galore on the home page of BFC! Lots of new stuff. Very nice! Screenshots are impressive. I was at Hartenstein (Oosterbeek) just one hour ago, to visit the museum and walk the perimeter on the West side. What a coincidence :-) No mention of changes to the engine though. I hope some tweaking has been done to improve urban fighting!
  16. Well, perhaps some tweaking has been done in the MG module. Lots of new stuff on the homepage, but no mention of changes to the engine.
  17. I will answer the call, I am playtesting my first scenario right now. It is called: In the heat of the morning. It is company sized and plays on a 800x600m map. An American assault on a village, to be played as the defending Germans only. I put a LOT of effort in the map. I think it looks great, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder :-) When I am finished I will upload. I hope someone will get some fun out of it.
  18. Great pack, thanks for that. A real timesaver and looks superb.
  19. JonS has inspired me to create my first scenario. It is just finished, but needs playtesting. And tell you what, until 5 minutes ago I never even knew there was a special play mode for scenario testing!
  20. I aint grumbling, yet I am a happy wargamer. Now let's all shut up and give Steve our money :-)
  21. 41, live and kickin', and yes if you look at how much bang for the buck CM provides compared to wargames in the olden days.... I would pay double the price for... ow wait, BFC reads these forums too. Nothing to see here folks, move on.
  22. Considering the playtime I get out of the CM series, they are quite cheap IMHO. In fact the CM series is about the only thing I devote my precious little gaming time to. CM is great value for money and is in a league of it's own!
  23. Not wanting to be a Grammar Nazi, but the correct spelling is Nijmegen (and not Nijmwegen). Thanks for showing us how it's done.
  24. All very interesting gents, but I am craving for some real MG news. This old dog needs a bone. Woof!
